    UNC or Duke for surgery?

Hey! He's doing my sleeve on 6/15! Howdy there surgery buddy!
  2. I'm going to assume that since Calcet Creamy Bites are sold out everywhere, they must be amazing.

so I tried the celebrate chewies in caramel and the bariatric advantage chewies in strawberry. both very grainy in texture and left some gritty residue in my mouth that I had to rinse down with water. out of the two, the bariatric advantage was slightly less gritty. the calcet was definitely the least chalky/gritty in texture. but not sure I would it justifies the extra 25 calories a piece for them (and 5 grams of actual sugar). in the end, I figure it's medicine and not really supposed to taste good, just tolerable. so for the calcium supplement I would probably suggest the bariatric advantage chewies out of the three.

Thanks for the update! :) I tried a sample of the chocolate calcet one - it wasn't as good as a piece of chocolate, but it wasn't bad at all. It's big though, so I think I'd prefer something else. I have another sample at home (don't remember what brand) that I'll try today.

    Trouble finding vitamins?

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't have what my doctor told me I needed (no folic acid, not enough zinc/iron). I found Celebrate Vitamins, which I think will do the trick. They're just a bit on the expensive side.

    Help with choosing vitamins.

I'm in *a* May/June Sleevers group, got added today. Not sure if it's the right one?

    Help with choosing vitamins.

The plan is sleeve, unless they find something in my endoscopy (June 6th!) that would necessitate bypass.

  9. Thanks for this thread! I've been worried about this too, especially Christmas. I *LOVE* hosting my family at Christmas and cooking a huge meal for them. This year, I'll be right at 6 months post-op and have been wondering if I should cancel and have someone else host. You guys give me hope that I can still manage it, even with my new lifestyle!

Puréed Stage: what are you eating?

I'm still pre-op, so I'm only planning... but I am hoping to be able to add unflavored Protein powder to grits and eat those when I get to the pureed stage. Maybe you can do the same with your Cream of Wheat?
  11. Whoa. I just bought a Coke for lunch and put it away after two swallows. Turns out - I didn't really want it! (I'm pre-op folks)

kudos to you for putting it away. too many times in the past I've gone ahead and finished something I realized I didn't really want just because it was "there"

    Psych evaluation required?! Why?

Just one. It lasted about an hour.
  16. I give up tracking food this week. I'm at a conference and making good choices (DAY 7 WITH NO SODA!) but there's no way for me to guess what the calories are.

  17. I think that I don't care what I eat this weekend. But I'll still avoid the Coke.

  18. Am I the only one who spends way too much time drooling over all of the clothes I hope to be able to wear one day? I'm obsessing over Modcloth tonight.

I love this entire thread! I want one of everything mentioned...
  20. Have any of you ladies with PCOS found it difficult to lose weight even with the sleeve? I'm worried that my body is just not going to give up the weight because it holds onto everything so tightly.

    Prior Authorization?

You should be able to find your insurance provider's policies and coverages online so you can have that information when you call and talk to them. What insurance do you have?

    Psych evaluation required?! Why?

They also want to know that you're prepared. My psych asked me to tell her about the procedure and what they physically do (removing 70-80% of the stomach), what the nutritional focus is after surgery (protein), how the diet is structured after surgery (liquids, soft foods, full food), and what Vitamins I'll need to take. Other than that she just wanted to make sure I don't have any mental or physical issues that would preclude me from having the surgery. It's relatively painless.

    Why do people regain

I've seen the term "slider food" several times around the forum, but I don't know what it means. It makes me think of mini burgers! What is it?

Too bad there is no "program" for Coke (soda) addicts. Cold turkey is tough. You got this, though! :)
