I had RNY June 24th. A week after I had 9 days of cluster Migraines with aura. My surgeon assumed I was dehydrated & I was infused with a liter of saline. So far no more since the infusion! (Knock on wood) if you are continuing to get them, I don't know.

I live in Michigan but work for a company in NJ and I know they have Short Term Disability there. I know they will pay even if I don't live in the state as long as my employer is there but does anyone know if they cover Gastric Bypass? And will my employer know what type of surgery I'm having (all they know is abdominal surgery) if I file a claim??
Any insight into NJ STD would be helpful! Surgery is June 24th
Thanks!

That's one of the all time greatest post!! I'm freaking out a little myself & do glad I read that! Thanks!!When I started the 72 hour freak out, I found this post:

It reminded me why I was doing this. You can do this when you have a clear goal. And getting your weight back to normal is a worthy goal.

I think I've overloaded myself on info!! I had to take a break for a few weeks, my mind was spinning all the time! I'm just really ready for the 24th to get here--I've bought a bunch of stuff for after and only have a few more items on my list. I'm ready!! I just need the date to hurry up!!

I have told my sister & a few very close friends who will be helping with my recovery. I'll tell my parents (in their 80's) this week sometime, but I believe they will be fine with it.
I have not told my boss, he has made less than favorable comments in the past about someone else possibly getting bypass, so all he knows is I will probably need abdominal surgery in the coming months. I'm having a little bit of a hard time justifying this deception because he's really a great guy to work for, but for now I'm not telling him.
Had my surgery consult yesterday--endoscope on April 26th--hoping for a surgery date end of May/beginning of June!!
-
I had my surgery consult yesterday--as everyone has said...TONS of information!! It was a great appointment & I really like my surgeon--my PCP recommended him & said he would have him operate on himself.
He ordered a mammogram (scheduled tomorrow morning), a chest xray (I just have to go & get it done) and and endoscope...which he didn't have an opening on his schedule until April 26th...bummed about that because they can't send my file to the insurance company for approval until all my test results are in. So I'm hoping for late May/early June for a surgery date. But my surgeon is taking some time off in both May & June..ugh!!
Wish I could click my heels together & it was 3 weeks from now!!

Jen at Dr Weiner was awsome and they seem to have this long distance thing worked out with skyped office calls, even discounted hotel rates in place. Is his office far from hospital and airport? Dr Rollins in Arkansas is less money, they are checking to see how to combine everything into one flight out as they had not done so before.
@@pegrae you're thinking about coming to my state for surgery!
Too bad I'm 3 1/3 hrs north of there. Good Luck on your decision!

Just wondering if I can stay at my house alone after surgery? I have great friends to come check on me, but I really think I'll be much more comfy at my own house. (They really want me to stay with them)
Thoughts? ?

It definitely depends on what insurance company you have. I have Priority & others have told me they were approved pretty quickly. (Of course I imagine the ones who were not approved are probably not on the boards? )
Good Luck with your approval! !

I had my psych evaluation on Thursday --it was really nothing. The Dr asked me some questions for about 20 min, then I had to take the MMPI. It's a long weird True/False test. Just answer truthfully & you will be fine.My psych evaluation is on Monday. Kind of nervous cause I've never had one. Has anybody have theirs yet

Hi Roni!
I have my surgery consult April 5th, then hopefully insurance approval! ! I've done PCP, lab work, psych consult, support group meeting already, so I'm really hoping the surgeon submits me to insurance asap! Lol
I had to gain weight so that my bmi is over 50....which I thought would be easy, ironically enough, not that easy.
Welcome!!
