  1. I am getting sleeved tomorrow morning, supposed to stay 1-2 nights- depends on how well I can tolerate fluids. Anyone go home same day? I really don't want to stay at all. I work at a hospital - really don't want to sleep there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Anyone from 3/28 have a BM yet? I've been on stool softeners, walking, drinking, passing gas but nothing yet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I ended up staying the night thank goodness. Difficulty in urinating which is the norm for me and anesthesia but worst of all the gas pains. I walked, I sipped, I got drugs, and went home the next day in the evening. Still battling gas at day 5 but each day gets better. Able to drink and get Protein in for most part. 5. I was terrified to vomit too for that reason. I only had nausea one time- the nurse gave me Zofran and thank goodness it never came back. Just sip very slowly and walk a lot. I was up walking as soon as I got to my room- only way I could get the gas to be tolerable. It's right what they say about each day being a little better than the one before. Funny how your tastes change after surgery. I used to despise chicken broth but just had a 1/2 cup and it was like the best thing I've ever ate! I love getting full so easy and I'm only 4 days out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Gas pains got me on this one unlike my hysterectomy where I had none. It has required more pain meds and more walking but not intolerable. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. So glad to be home and on my way to recovering. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Going home this evening! Looking forward to sleeping in my own bed! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. So I ended up staying. Doc was okay with me going home until he found out I hadn't peed yet (happened to me under general before/kinda expected it) and I had one bout of nausea that resolved quickly with Zofran. I could have pressed the issue to leave but thought it would be better to stay for the IV fluids and nausea meds if I need them. The gas pains go from being pretty bad to almost gone- up and down. I have walked a ton. Was out walking within 5 min of arriving to my room. The nurses have started calling me "a beast" cause they said no one walks that quickly and especially with no pain pump. I don't need help to get out of bed either as the incision sites aren't that sore at all. I did manage to get down some Protein Water, Protein shake, and some plain water today too. Not as much as I hoped to but about half. Pretty proud of myself and my kick ass pain tolerance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. I'm hoping I feel well enough to encourage my doc to let me go. Nothing is more comfortable than your own bed with hubby and doggies snuggled up together. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Odd how we are all tomorrow and this is what we choose to look at before bed- LOL. As if I'm not nervous enough. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I get so many mixed responses in regards to pain. Some seem to think its a breeze and just feel sore and others are in terrible pain. I had a laprascopic surgery before and really wasn't in much pain at all. My doctor said I was tougher than most and seemed to take it better than average by far so I hope it's a good indicator that it won't be too bad. I have always thought I had a hefty pain tolerance. Broke my arm in a car accident and turned down meds in ER. I don't like narcotics - I used Motrin and ice. I hope this is similar cause if it is I'll be fine Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm in the morning too. I never take sleeping pills but I just popped one of my husbands Ambien in hopes of a few good hours. Good luck tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. So I have my preop appt later today with my surgeon. I'm wandering if I'm making the right decision because in Oct my BMI was 40 but through seeing his dietician, exercising, and making life changes my BMI is now 29. If I lose another 25 lbs I'll be at my goal BMI. My fear is gaining it back after all this hard work. Is it worth the risks involved, the pain, the dehydration? If I decline to go ahead with my 3/28 date will I regret it? So many mixed emotions. I feel so proud of myself losing 65lbs all on my own, do I need this? Anyone else have a preop scenario like this? Low BMI is it possible

My BMI is 29. I'm going to do it. The hunger that goes with dieting sucks. I eat the right foods and exercise is how I lost 65 lbs so far but I am constantly battling the gurgling and want more. It just plain sucks. If the tool is available why not do it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App What's the low BMI FB group called? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How long with Cigna

I have Cigna. It only took 3 business days. It was so quick, I had no idea it would happen that fast. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Saw my surgeon today and I am going to have it done. I have lost weight before - not this much but have done it and gained back plus some. I am hungry all the time and if I go over 1200 calories and skip running I don't lose crap. I am viligent but can't keep this up forever - my hunger pains talk and sometimes they win. He said statistically only 2.5% of people that lose weight the old fashioned way can keep it off. I am so motivated to make it this far I don't want to fail and I think this additional tool will give me that edge to maintain my healthy eating and lifestyle. He said I could be back running in 4 weeks. He said I should heal faster and recover easier than others with a higher BMI cause I have prepped myself for almost 6 months now to follow a diet and exercise plan so my head is in the game and my body is healthier. I saw my labs today that were drawn last week and they are the best I've had since my early 20's! The best news he said at the very end is no liquid preop diet for me. He said in 6 months I have already shrunk my liver and to just keep the carbs real low for the next two weeks. Surgery is March 28th. I feel so much better after talking with him and dietician again today. I am ready to do this, wish me luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. No I have never lost to goal before. I just slowly crept up from the day I got married 18 years ago until one day I said enough was enough. I wasn't sure I could even do this but I have done well. I am 37 years old, sleep apnea likely gone now, high lipids but overall healthy. I love food though and just really fear that the weight will slowly come back on like it did over the past years. For the first time in my life I've been seeing a dietician, log all my intake, and consistently exercise. I really just fear my appetite. Sometimes it's so intense. I am thinking reducing the ghrellin will help. I have insurance approval cause my BMI was high when initially seen at surgeons office. I'm enjoying trail running, but will I always enjoy it? So many unknowns and I'm so nervous. I'm a nurse so I've seen what happens when surgeries go bad too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low BMI is it possible

This post was just what I needed. I started at a BMI of 40 last Oct to now a BMI of 29 in pursuit of getting the sleeve. I saw a dietician, tracked my intake, and exercised. .. I was wandering if pursuing it being only 25lbs from a normal BMI was worth it. I battle my hunger daily and hope this will be the tool I need to finish up my remaining loss and keep it off as regaining it is my biggest fear.
