  1. I am one month out. I can tolerate one beer just fine. Grain alcohols are a no. I love red wine but haven't tried yet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Update: crab went well! I ate about 3 snow crab legs. Butter wasn't really necessary. . Success in adding a new food. Interesting to hear that fats make you woozy. Yes- that's what happened with the bite of steak. I am scared to death to try sweets, but luckily I have no real desire to try for now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I heard the bargain ones at Walmart were delicious- and cheap! I haven't tried personally yet, but just sharing what I've seen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm also in week three and not gaining, but stalling. The advice I've seen is increase Protein (60 is on the low side for our diets) and increase Fluid. I'm not big on replacing all my refrigerator with low cal everything (mayo, cheese, etc) so I am careful when I eat actual foods. My calories increases by 100-200 in this stage because of that. I am going to add another shake or yogurt in the evenings and see if that helps. Good luck to you too. Are you exercising at all yet? I'm just walking and slow jogging to be safe now- but maybe some exercise could help move you along? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I am also a March 16 surgery person. I joined the private Spring 2016 facebook group so that I could share/compare/question my journey with others. It's great! It would be great to see you all there too and have more people post op to talk to! Request Alea Birbeck or message her to join. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. This thread makes me feel better! The only people in my life who know is my husband and my neighbor- who just happened to be in the same group nutrition class pre op as me! Not my mom. Not my college aged kids. Not my staff at work. I'd prefer not to discuss my medical issue or explain myself. I have been very public about my efforts to get healthier. And that I am doing shakes. Social events have been hard- no eating and no alcohol. That's been tough. I had a drink at two weeks out (1/2 a drink) and literally passed out. Crazy. Paid the price for that one and learned my lesson. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I'm three weeks post op, transitioning between puréed and soft foods. Tuna, flaky fish, canned chicken are all ok. This weekend is my anniversary and id love to go to a seafood restaurant. Has anyone had experience with crab? What about the butter? I had a bite of steak last week and that was a HUGE mistake. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I'll join. Surgery date was 3/16. Just entering stage 2 diet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I had the exact same problems. They kept me an extra night because of this. My temp is down, but I need to get a cuff to check my blood pressure. Scary. I don't want to add another problem. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I had mine done 3/16. I'd be happy to have a buddy. I'm new to the site though and unfamiliar with how to use all the features. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I'm day two and still in hospital. Gas pain has subsided- thank God! But now my blood pressure is up and I have a low fever. Ugh. I think I went too long without pain meds (8 hours) trying to "man up" and prove I was ok. Mistake. Also- do the breathing exercise thing as ordered. I didn't think I needed it and it hurt so I ignored. Mistake. In my efforts to rush a smooth recovery I think I actually stalled my progress . Will follow orders to the T from here forward. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Me too! Tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. March 15. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
