I have wondered the same thing. I have 3 people in my life that got the surgery but as soon as they could they started back with their old habits and gained it all back. I'm deciding to learn from their mistakes and be very vigilant with this tool cuz I have fought hard for it. Just got my approval today after 2 denials! So I'm gonna fight just as hard after the surgery

Well I'm gonna be the first man to ad their story to this topic. I'm a 53 year old man named Roy, hence the RoyBoy name. married to a 53 year old wonderful woman named Jean for 11 years now. We are the brady bunch as I had 3 girls and one boy, she had two boys for the perfect six! The family just melted together into one big happy family. All of our kids are grown with the littlest being 20, she's going back to college next semester, so she says but all the other kids have good jobs, nice homes and a wonderful family life. They have given us 12 grandchildren with two kids of our kids to go. Our number two son is getting married this winter in Riviera Maya Mexico for a warm needed vacation from cold Wisconsin and our number 3 son is doing the same next winter in Brazil! I love food and thats how I got to the place that brought me here! But love to hunt and fish with a passion and now I feel better every day so I fish even harder than I used too. LoL I've run and sold 2 companies and currently own a small trucking company with my wife working for a private college.
I'm a very thankful man for what God has given us and remember that every single day of my life!

I too used Dr Kim at Kim Bariatric Institute! He performed my gastric sleeve in 2011 and I've since lost 100+ lbs. Great office staff and wonderful aftercare! We also have a private support group for 24/7 support along your journey. In regards to the gentleman who lost his legs.....yes, a very sad story reported on TV/online....but unfortunately....not the whole story. Dr Kim was not at the hospital and a new Dr hired by KBI was there to assist/observe Dr Holden....unfortunately she chose to start the procedure on her own. Fortunately for the gentleman, Dr Holden came into the OR and saved his life!!! The other Dr is now practicing at another facility. Please, do not judge KBI by the story that has not reported all the facts. We wish you all the best with whoever you use!!

I've had many "klutz" moments. I've come to think that my center of balance is so different that my "mind's eyes" can't keep up with my weight loss.
Does that make any sense? That's the only explanation that I have. My body is so used to having a balance a large chunk of ---well ME, that now that I have less mass, I'm just flinging myself around as if I still had it. But, being lighter I am overcompensating and becoming clumsy and unbalanced (physically---well ok, maybe a wee bit mentally as well, but that's a story for a different day )
Anyway, that is my theory and I'm sticking with it!

not at goal yet. first 20lbs pretty much flew off but after that i had to work my butt off lol.
work out 3 to 5 days a week. always do cardio and then some weights. try not to eat sugar, carbs, caffeine or alcohol. i cheat a little here and there but mostly i stay on track. can't over eat cuz....well cuz i can't so that's good lol. original goal weight was 160 but now i'm thinking of going to 150 or even 140. i'm in a loose 12 right now. would like to see what it's like to be in single digit size! good luck everyone.

After 3 denials ( July '15, Jan '16 and Feb '16) and countless heartaches, my medical director overturned the decision and finally approved me today!!! The amount of joy I have is epic! PRAISE JESUS! ????

I was sleeved on 3/2 and it is slowly getting better. As stated above your insides are still swollen but you will eventually get to a better place. I have found that eating softer foods when going out also helps like pulled meats - they are easy to chew and cut to small pieces without being obvious. When I get close to my full mark I get the hiccups...just 3 or 4 hiccups and that tells me I am done . You are doing great!

it won't always be like that. as the swelling goes down, this will decrease. Hang in there and learn the signs your body will give you right before you've had too much. sometimes they are subtle. I get a drippy nose.

in fact Friday when we had a "talk" he actually told me that he loved me more when i was fat. So i told him i loved him more when he f**ked me more than twice in 8 months.....(sorry, but that's what was said) I sugar coat nothing.
I have said this to many people here and friends.... WLS changes people, not just physically, but how we view ourselves and how others view us.
We see ourselves accomplishing things we never thought we would/could have... for one, losing weight, actually liking to go the the gym, being around other people, living life....
Others see us as being selfish..... conceded, self absorbed... Only because it's not all about them anymore... its about us and what we are doing to make ourselves feel better.
I know some people here are going to say.... i haven't changed, my spouse loved me before and loves me now.... well goody goody gumdrop for you..... now get your head out the sand and be honest... WE ALL change in one way or the other.... whether it's physically or mentally.... WE ALL change.
Your husband is upset because you are doing what you need to do to get your life back on the right track. He prob. see you losing weight and gaining confidence and along with that comes the attention from others... He is afraid of losing you... be careful with him... don't let him do to you what mine did to me.... control...control... control.... Mine cancelled the gym membership because he said i was "skinny enough". What he can't handle is his insecurities.... and it told him Friday.. I'm never going back to where i was... Never .... Just to sooth his ego.

APPROVED!!!! Yes after 2 denials from insurance company my doc sent the information to the NYS External Approval DFS expedited 3 business days ago... Approved today Surgery Tomorrow .....

I work for cigna and had the sleeve on March 21. There is a reason. Call their 800 customer service # and ask the rep to call ore auth. They will tell u the exact reasons... yes they will send u a letter but they can find out fast. I'm sorry ur going thru this. The things that are required are specific and suck. But u have to follow them and the they will aoprove. I see it everyday it sucks. I. Sorry ur going thru this :*(

Being able to run and play with my daughter. Going to the zoo and actually being a it to go through the whole thing instead if finding places to rest while my husband takes her around. Being able to walk more than a block without feeling like I'm going to literally break in half. Looking forward to what life has to offer
