I'm so happy, I am going to a different doctor. I have a consult on Monday 8/15/22 to discuss the sleeve to bypass and the DS.

VSG to ESG Surgery??-Why??
WOW! That's good to know. I'm definitely going to move on to find a RNY surgeon. The trueyou surgeon told me it'll get better (GERD), that's crazy. I can't trust it. I'm going to get the RNY. Thanks for the feedback!

VSG to ESG Surgery??-Why??
Absolutely. He won't budge, and I am out to find another surgeon. ?

VSG to ESG Surgery??-Why??
Yes, the IBI doctor is a bariatric surgeon and the TrueYou doctor said he's a gastrointerologist specialist. I guess I'll go back to the drawing board to find a few more bariatric surgeons and also find a GI specialist. I appreciate everyone's help and insight.

VSG to ESG Surgery??-Why??
Thank you for your response. I haven't gotten my GERD checked out for a couple of years, but I know it's getting worse. Part of the regain issue is due to binge eating disorder. I'm still getting treated for that and learning to do other things besides eating. It's been helping, but not really a lot of weight loss (3 lbs since last month), but I can't really get below 220 at all anymore. I'm on HBP meds since last Friday and managing to get it down. I'm totally self-pay for now and the surgeon can correct the gerd, but it won't cover anything dealing with bariatrics under my insurance plan. I guess his office doesn't know how to get it to clear the insurance. I have insurance it just won't cover me for surgery.

VSG to ESG Surgery??-Why??
Does this make sense? I live in Atlanta, GA and I've had two consultations for sleeve revisions. Both doctors are pushing for an ESG. To me it doesn't make sense. Sure it's less invasive and through the endoscopy route, but, I'm a little apprehensive. Neither of them said it will help GERD nor did they mention a good weight loss. An average of 15-20% weight loss is not good stats to me because it'll only give me approximately 40 lb weight loss. It seems like a quick fix that won't last long. Can anyone suggest any good Atlanta surgeons for a sleeve to bypass surgery? My google search is coming up short. There's one surgeon in Johns Creek I would like to try but it's out of reach monetarily because I'm self-pay. I'm 223, 5'4 and 5 years out of VSG. I want a revision because of GERD and weight re-gain. Any insight is helpful.

ATLANTA Surgeons
I have decided to get a revision from a sleeve to gastric bypass. My heartburn is getting worse and i'm gaining weight. I was originally sleeved in 2017. I am ready for this second chance because I have to self pay. I can't believe I have two full-time jobs and I'm still concerned about costs for this procedure. My first job won't cover the procedure and the second contracting job won't either. Since being sleeved, I never got to my goal weight. If you have any recommendations for bariatric surgeons in the Atlanta area, please let me know because my original surgeon has since retired during covid. I've found one surgeon, but he's very pricey at $24,000 and it doesn't include post-op appointments (insurance can cover), labs (insurance can cover), nutritional visits, (not covered by insurance) or supplements. Any feedback is welcomed.

Hello, any veterens around?
I’m almost a veteran. I was sleeved in 2017. Never reached my goal weight. But, I did get down to 185 or so. My advice is if you are a sweets lover or have binge eating issues, go with the gastric bypass. I didn’t listen to my first doctor and got the sleeve. I’m back up to 222 and struggling to get my weight down. My other advice is to not get off the dietary/lifestyle plan.

Hello, any veterens around?
@danita75 I wish this was possible, but I'll need to pay out of pocket and use loans most likely. I have insurance, but it doesn't cover it.

Hello, any veterens around?
I’m 5 years out and struggling! I never hit goal with the sleeve. I should have had the bypass instead. Best wishes to all in your journey.

5 months out and hungry all day
I really feel I have not done a good job managing my emotions and eating. I need help! I called my surgeon and he tells me to stick to the plan. I’m doing that, but only lost 43 lbs. anyone have tips? I’m a stress eater and so much is going on. Help me please! I wish I would’ve gotten the bypass instead of the sleeve.

Honeymoon over?
Thank you for your responses. I will keep the faith and press on. I'm also going to join my local support group.

Honeymoon over?
I'm now 3 months out and I have been stalled again for 3 weeks. I've lost 42 pounds, but I'm feeling like I won't lose anymore weight. I'm meeting my water goals, protein, and exercise goals. I still keep thinking I should've gotten the RNY. i hope I can lose another 30 pounds by my 6 month appointment in the next few months. I have pcos and I think that's the culprit. I feel lighter but no more weightless. Maybe I should go to therapy or something. Smh

Any of Dr. Macik Post Ops on here?
Yes, I took gas X until I heard there was a recall. And, then after that, I just took the pain. it wasn’t that bad for me though. Walking help losing me up because you want to just let it “pass”

Tired of the stall
You are absolutely right with your comment. I increased my calorie intake one day and did a jumping jack routine. Also, it was discouraging because All I kept thinking about is the low calories and not losing, and stressing out. Then I said to myself I need to get my mind off of this. So, as time went on, by the end of week 9, I lost 1 pound. Then the 10th week, I lost 5 lbs, and another 5 lbs, in week 11. I’m just starting my 12th week today and will increase HIIT one day a week.

Tired of the stall
That’s great! It’s funny how some people don’t have a stall at all and some have a few stalls and others have a stall every other month. But, you’re weight loss progress is great.[emoji3]

Tired of the stall
Awesome! Very encouraging![emoji4]

Tired of the stall
It’s good to be slow loser because you can keep the weight off longer. Slow and steady is best. But, Wow! Months of stalls would make me nuts. I’m glad I’m finally losing again. I seemed to think I would be the exception if the stall continues long time. Wondering how I will do in 3 more months. That’s when my 6 months will be.

Tired of the stall
Yes, you are so right. The stall is broken. [emoji16]

Restriction Gone
I have a few bites of chicken and I’ve eaten about an ounce or two of Salisbury steak. I have eaten 3 oz of salmon around week 7 and can’t stand salmon now. I can’t eat shrimp and I used to love it before surgery. It doesn’t break down well.
