So I finally heard it tonight!

I can't see how it's easy. You have to do that awful pre op diet, then surgery recovery, liquid foods, puréed and then solids. You might be "lucky" and get lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance, reflux, need to learn to judge how much you can eat, if you eat too quick or too much you might throw up. It's hard work! Yeah I fractured my left wrist and damaged tendons in my right. Did a good job hey Fructose intolerance means I can't handle the sugar found naturally in many foods eg wheat, fruits, veg etc just need to work out what exactly affects me by doing a special diet for a few weeks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi guys. Saw my surgeon Tuesday, he's happy with my progress. Said it sounds like I'm fructose intolerant now, which I'm not surprised about. He just wants me to start exercising which is a bit hard with a cast on one hand and tendons hurt in the other but I'm going to the gym and riding the bike there for 45 mins at level 6! Can only improve from there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm the opposite I'm smaller up top. You need to measure yourself! I did it the week after surgery, and my best friend took photos of me in my bra and knickers so I can look back and compare. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My surgeon was Adam Skidmore, so laid back and relaxed which was really good. I had my surgery 17th March, im on solids now & it's the best thing I ever did. Adam did say the first 6-8 weeks on solids is the hardest and he was right, I'm learning as I go. Some days are better then others but overall I'm stoked I got this done. I tell you what I'm loving, Real Foods Corn Thins with vegemite! Delicious! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'll go back again, knees aren't really that sore just my wrists killing me. Doc said I'm to go back on Friday if no improvement as they will then do an ultrasound to check for a fracture. Couldn't see any but she said that can be because of the swelling. Hey guys went for my first walk today since having my meds. I thought I'd do a lap of the lake, which is 1.25k, and if my legs were going well I would do a 2nd. Well I got to about the 1k mark and had a huge fall, doc sent me off for X-rays but they came back clear just a bad sprain on my wrist and bruised and grazed knees. I tell ya what, all I could think was imagine how much more it would have hurt back when I was 28kg heavier! Lol! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I haven't had a banana yet, but I do enjoy apples. And I hear you kiwijet about the coldness of the Water, the colder the better! I made my delicious fried rice last night, it's not really fried but it's yum. I cook short cut bacon, onion, red capsicum, celery, tin of peas and corn. Stir in some oyster sauce and bean shoots then I add rice at the end and stir though. Delish! And I can eat it for lunch the next day, and it doesn't have much rice, but lots of the veggies and you could use low GI rice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey I hear ya! I'm struggling big time with Water too, so I add some diet cordial to it to help me chug it down! And I really think you need to eat lunch, and 2 small Snacks if you need. It's hard, I know, but we can do this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Are you eating enough and drinking enough? And making sure half of your meal is Protein at dinner? And most importantly, only weighing yourself once a week? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sorry I meant my taste buds went because of my meds. Like I had been craving something, can't remember what it was, and I took a bite and it tasted awful haha! And I made chicken and vegetable soup, had been looking forward to it for days, and threw it up each time o tried to eat it. So I then figured well shit it won't matter what I eat cause I'm going to throw it up anyway lol. I was having my carbs for Breakfast, a piece of toast each day. I wouldn't have carbs for the rest of the day, but the book I'm following said I could have it once a day. But I've gone off toast at the moment and would like to enjoy special k Cereal again, but yeah bit hard when I'm not tolerating milk! I tried almond milk with it today, my stomach didn't rumble which was good, but I didn't enjoy it. Think I need to get the unsweetened one. I'm not having Protein shakes, my dietician wants me to try get my protein from food rather then shakes. I'm happy with my progress I'm losing 1-2kg a week which is what my surgeon wants. All up since start of December I'm down 28kg which I'm happy with. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Good morning everyone. So I've had a fortnight from hell. I had to go to hospital for meds for my MS, it's a form of chemo, and it has knocked me around significantly. My taste is out the window. I threw everything I ate up for 5 days straight. All I could tolerate was lemonade icy poles. My GP last week wanted to put me back in hospital my blood pressure was very low and I was dehydrated but we compromised. I forced myself to eat and drink even though all I wanted to do was sleep, and my GP said she didn't care what I ate, or drank, as long as it was something. So lots of lemonade icy poles and also vege mite on savoys! And I had oven baked crumbed calamari late in the week they were pretty good. Then on weekend I had pizza 2 small slices) and Black Forest torte, again a small slice. I didn't follow a proper diet last week, but I don't care, I will be back on it this week. My taste buds are starting to come back thankfully. Funny enough I still can't tolerate milk, not even lactose free milk, and I'm still having trouble eating eggs. 23. Hi guys just wondering who out there has MS and had had or going to gastric sleeve? I live in Aus, having surgery 17th March. Just wondering how the anesthetic will affect my MS, had my gallbladder out and my legs were quite wobbly Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    MS & Gastric Sleeve

Hey Jenn how did your sleeve go? I had mine 17 March. I'm currently in hospital having my 2nd year dose of Lemtrada which includes 3 days of methylpred and that ALWAYS gives me the munchies! So it's sort of hard this time, I still want to eat but I have to be so careful. My current snacking food is sakata biscuits with a bit of philly light cream cheese. Government here pays for some people too but it is a long wait and you don't get to pick your surgeon or hospital. I have MS so I wanted to choose my surgeon, the hospital part didn't worry me though. I think health fund forked out 12k for my surgery? I'm happy to fork out what I did, the long term benefits will outweigh the short term cost Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
