I am just sick of being overweight and all of the issues that come with it. I am 32 years old and yet I feel like my life hasn't even begun yet. I have been heavy since the age of six and I have a lot of health problems as a result of being obese. There was a period of time from 2011-2015 that I would not even leave the house for months at a time because I did not want people to see me, I just felt like a big hideous mass and I didn't even feel human anymore I was so miserable.
 
Then one day I got down on my knees and started praying hard for my life to change and shortly afterward things started changing drastically for me. One of the things that I prayed for was getting healthy and while I was initially turned down in 2012 for weight loss surgery, a wonderful new doctor expressed genuine concern for my health and well being and referred me to a weight loss surgeon in September 2015. After a close evaluation, the surgeon recommended that I get the gastric sleeve surgery and that's when this exciting journey began. I'm not going to lie it wasn't easy and I had to fight for it to happen but I believe anything worth having is worth fighting for.
 
Well here I am now taking charge of my life and ready to make the necessary changes like following my diet and exercising -just doing whatever I can to get the best yet healthiest results with the aid of my sleeve however, my family isn't totally behind me in this and I don't know anyone personally who has had weight loss surgery which is why I'm very grateful to find the support and encouragement I need from others going through the same experience on bariatricpal.
