  1. I was scheduled to have surgery on Monday. But yesterday, I received my results and is diagnosed with COVID19. I am going through the proper protocol to get retested and hope for a negative soon. However, this is a chance once I am negative and restart the liquid diet, my surgery is pushed to January. If the surgery happens as planned, my insurance was going to pay for it 100% since I reached my OOP max. Now that it’s pushed back, that would mean I will have to pay for the deductible and possible coinsurance. Anyone had gone through this? What is happening now is making me change my mind about surgery after going through the process since August.

  2. I decided not to go through it. When I went to my appointment, I found out in only 15 pounds away from falling under 40. And if I hit the 40 mark, they'll need to put me on maintenance for the sake my insurance. Btw I was put in a 3-month program.

Anyway, by the time I attended my first class, I'm down to 265. That means I'll 5 pounds away from falling under the 40-BMI mark. I felt that emotionally I wasn't ready for something so extreme if I can do this on my own.

  3. My surgeon asks that you commit to 18mths post-op before attempting to conceive. However, there was a young lady 10mths post-op in our support group who was expecting. Good luck to you on both endeavors!!!

Thanks. I was weighing all the pros and cons with my husband about either trying to conceive or have the surgery. As much as we want to be parents, my health needs to come first. And if we're blessed with a kid afterwards or meant to adopt, then we'll take that step. But it all starts with a healthy mom.

  4. Ditto. I had to do the 6 month thing for insurance, too. Went to my seminar in January. Would have had the surgery in July, but it got delayed due to something more pressing (cancer -all is good now).

    Glad everything is okay now.

The main question I do I want to ask at the seminar is will having the sleeve done effect my chances of having a kid later. I'm guessing that when its all said and done next year, I'll be 35 (I'm turning 34 in May). So hopefully, it's a 3 months instead of 6 months but whatever my insurance and Doctor decides, I'll do it.
