  1. I was scheduled to have surgery on Monday. But yesterday, I received my results and is diagnosed with COVID19. I am going through the proper protocol to get retested and hope for a negative soon. However, this is a chance once I am negative and restart the liquid diet, my surgery is pushed to January. If the surgery happens as planned, my insurance was going to pay for it 100% since I reached my OOP max. Now that it’s pushed back, that would mean I will have to pay for the deductible and possible coinsurance. Anyone had gone through this? What is happening now is making me change my mind about surgery after going through the process since August.
  2. Anyone past or present used them for surgery? I've read some posts here they make you wait 6 months before you're qualify for surgery. Just want to know you about your experiences so I can be prepared. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I decided not to go through it. When I went to my appointment, I found out in only 15 pounds away from falling under 40. And if I hit the 40 mark, they'll need to put me on maintenance for the sake my insurance. Btw I was put in a 3-month program. Anyway, by the time I attended my first class, I'm down to 265. That means I'll 5 pounds away from falling under the 40-BMI mark. I felt that emotionally I wasn't ready for something so extreme if I can do this on my own. 4. Since my appointment for my colonoscopy last month, I've lost 12 pounds. I have about 15 pounds to go before I can leave the "morbid obese" level. If my BMI drops below 40 and I don't have any underlining conditions, will that effect my qualification for surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Just had my appointment today. She said I can't go below a BMI of 40 just in case the insurance doesn't go by the starting weight. Kinda feeling discouraged because I'm now about 20 pounds away from being disqualified. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Is using a PT pre-op worth it or a waste of time? I want to build lean muscle and tone up so after surgery, the loose skin won't be as bad. I know that after surgery, I'll probably go back and continue using one until I reach my goal.

    Using a personal trainer pre-op?

I've done yoga in the past! However, instructors I've encountered barely ever modify for beginners. It also sucks when you're working out at a community center than the only classes are Zumba and PiYo. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Using a personal trainer pre-op?

Thanks for the replies. My worry is that whoever I decide on getting a PT will try to talk me out of getting surgery. I'm planning to test one out after my initial physical next week. Let see what happens.
  9. Right now I'm 285 (I'm 5'8") and my BMI is a 43. In order to leave the 40s, I'll need to be about 265. I'm just scared that by the time I go to the doctor, I'll reach that weight. But we'll see. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Thanks. I was weighing all the pros and cons with my husband about either trying to conceive or have the surgery. As much as we want to be parents, my health needs to come first. And if we're blessed with a kid afterwards or meant to adopt, then we'll take that step. But it all starts with a healthy mom. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. First post here. Yay! I am wondering from the time you attend the info session or have a physical with the bariatric doctor to actually having the surgery, how long does it take? The info session in my area is on 3/14 with my physical 2 weeks later. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Glad everything is okay now. The main question I do I want to ask at the seminar is will having the sleeve done effect my chances of having a kid later. I'm guessing that when its all said and done next year, I'll be 35 (I'm turning 34 in May). So hopefully, it's a 3 months instead of 6 months but whatever my insurance and Doctor decides, I'll do it.
