    @@Doc'sWife Wow I guess there are more people than I thought going through this. I have a lot of anxiety about this just because the lap band didn't work out for me but at the same time I can't wait to start this new life. I'm going to put everything I have into making this work for me. Good luck to you and we should definitely keep in touch, I would love to have someone to talk to that knows what I'm going through.

    Thanks, but I kind of want the added restrictions and giving up things forever that way I'm not as tempe in the future to have them. I'm terrified of regaining and not maintaining and eating foods that I shouldn't just because I can. So if I can't I feel like that's good for me. Also I like that I have the option of revision but I'd prefer to only have one surgery

    Hi Nicki, I'm having revision from lapband to bypass and I can tell you, I wish I would have just gone with the bypass to begin with. For me, the gas pains from having the lapband was terrible and I'm not looking forward to that again and the lapband didn't work at all for me. I do have a sweet tooth so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I dump to keep me away from those foods, not that I'm even thinking of having those things anytime soon after my surgery. Ultimately the choice is yours and you have to do what makes you feel comfortable. Good luck in your journey!!!

    Good luck, my surgeon does not require a pre op diet, but I may do a week on my own.

    Hi Jenn, I just have a quick question. I don't have a pre op diet either but was thinking maybe I would do a week or so also. Would you just go on a liquid diet for that week? I'm just not sure what I should do.

    Hi everyone its so good to read your stories!

    Im having a band to bypass revision on 19th April and I'm scared as hell!!!

    I had initial success with the band in 2009 but by 20011 i was in and out of emergency like a revolving door. What a nightmare.

    I thought it was me all along. But now i know it was really the band as it has proven to be a pretty useless device long term. I lost weight by starving myself. Couldnt eat a nice healthy salad. .only sloppy foods.....

    So now that im going with the bypass im so afraid that i wont be successful and also that ill be destined to a life of yoghurt and sloppy foods.

    An people who have had the bp please tell me what and how they eat now...at varying stages post surgery?

    Im hoping that a year down the track i can eat a healthy salad and a piece of fish? Or some grilled meat and steamed vegetables?

    I couldnt do that with the band. I spent half my life vomitting and the other half starving!

    Alo, is it true that you lose your appetite...because thats what im really looking forward to! :)

    You are definitely not alone!!! I feel the exact same way you do. I've had nothing but problems with my band also and I have a fear of failing at the rny too. My surgery is scheduled for May 6th so can't really help out with some of your questions but for me it really helps knowing that we aren't alone in this journey. Just to know that someone else knows what I'm going through helps me out a lot. If you ever want to talk just private message me. Good luck to you and keep us updated on everything!!!

    Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to this app and it's my first post.

    I started this journey in January 2016 and finished my last requirement on Thursday. My surgeons office called me on Friday with a surgery date of May 9th and start pre-op diet on April 25th.

    I was set on having the sleeve, but my surgeon explained to me that due to my severe acid reflux (GERD), he doesn't recommend it. He suggested the RNY. I've researched it and decided to have the RNY.

    I'm super excited to start this journey, on becoming healthier!

    Anyone else having the surgery on or around this date?

    So all of sudden it's getting real... Got my tentative surgery date May 13th pending all pre op clearances and it seems I will be busy from now until then hope everything gets done on time so I won't have to move it out.

    No problem we should definitely get in touch and it normal to be nervous. I was nervous until I got to the hospital and got settled in and had a good pep talk with myself lol. Your will go great remember walking will be your best friend along with gas x strips

    Yay!!! I'm so happy for you!! What an awesome call to get! I had to do all the requirements for surgery before they would summit for surgery but still had to wait a couple months after approval can for surgery. Good luck!!!

    It is just so crazy to me to hear all these stories after all this time of me thinking I was all alone. I had my band I filled in December and the dr was amazed at how full it was. They got almost 11cc out of mine too. I do feel better since he removed to Fluid but I have also gained some weight. I am pretty proud of myself because I have been walking around 4 miles a day and I've been really watching what I'm eating but still no weight loss. It makes it very discouraging and at times I want to give up. But I don't because I know it is going to help me out after my surgery. I truly do know how you feel. I'm here if you want to talk.
