    Im 52...5 weeks Post Op

57 here - and walking is my exercise of choice for now. (I'm 6 weeks out). Now that it's a bit warmer during the day I walk a mile during my lunch hour (since that time is no longer all about eating!) and then I'll have some sliced turkey and cheese (no bread) and I feel great for the rest of the day. I'll also go to the gym with my 17 year old daughter and do the treadmill and some light weight lifting. For a former couch potato, I'm doing pretty good! I hope to become more active but for now - baby steps!!
  2. I am ALSO 6 weeks out and down 35 pounds. I thought the same thing - that I would have lost more. Then I realized that the numbers on the tape measure were going down!! I definitely lost inches - enough for people to really notice. So putting on an old top and having it hang on me is encouragement enough to keep going. My doctor is happy with my progress and stressed (like everyone else) that I must get in Protein, Water and walking. I use a fitness tracker too and it also helps to see those numbers go up. Good luck to all and keep up the good work!!
  3. It's amazing how everyone is told something a little different! I was told to crush for the first month if they weren't chewable. Good thing I never really needed my pain meds. Crushing an Oxycodone in applesauce just once was enough to make me gag!! Luckily, my daily thyroid pill doesn't have any taste when crushed. I'm 4 weeks out today so tomorrow - I'm swallowing pills!! LOL

    Long Island Sleevers

Hey Lisa! I'm from South Nassau and, guess what? I had my sleeve surgery on March 8th at Winthrop Hospital with..........wait for it..............Dr. Barkan!!! The surgery went extremely well. No complications and I'm 3 weeks post-op and feeling great! You should be close to your surgery, if not already. Joan

    Scale Hasn't Budged!

I'm at the 3 week stall right now myself but I'm not letting the scale get me down. I HAVE noticed a visible difference and clothes are a little looser so I'm continuing with my pureed diet. I get over 60 gr of Protein a day and very little sugar but I think carbs are a little high plus I know I should be drinking even more Water. I'm also walking at least a mile a day (for an old couch potato like me this is a MAJOR accomplishment!). So I'm going to read that forum about stalls that was suggested and keep on keepin' on!! Oh, and I think I'd better get that stool softener....nuff said!! Thanks for all the advice.

How can you tell you lost weight?

I'm just over 3 weeks out from my VSG. I lost 16 the first week and then nothing. I was getting frustrated until I looked at the before pics I took and current pics. There is a visible difference! I'm losing inches first. My winter coat (which I thought I could put away by now but it's still friggin' cold on Long Island) fits better and my shoes are looser. I didn't realize how much Fluid I was retaining until it was gone! So hang in there and take pics like others suggested. I know I made the right decision - just waiting for the scale to catch up!! (Pre-op diet weight: 286 - Surgery date: 276 - Current: 260)

    March Surgery!

Thanks for the information. My doctor didn't mention the backaches so I wasn't sure what was going on with that. I didn't have any fever in the hospital and I didn't have a drain tube either. Hopefully you'll get over this and start the healing process. Good luck.

    March Surgery!

I'm 10 days post-op and doing pretty well except for backaches the past few days. That happen to anyone else? I'm on full liquids so I can have creamed Soups and Protein shakes! Yum! SW: 286 CW: 259

Your new stomach will remind you to slow down. You'll feel it. I've been telling friends that my stomach is like a funnel with a very small opening at the bottom. If you put too much in a funnel too fast it just sits there. Same thing. If you can't get the 2 bottles in, do the best you can. Good luck all!

    March Surgery!

I sip pretty much all day. I'm still working on my first 1/2 of the bottle of Isopure. I added some Water to it because it seemed too sweet (I got the Grape Frost flavor). I'm doing what I can. See doc tomorrow and maybe he'll start me back on shakes. (I miss chocolate!) Purplej, Long Island I sip pretty much all day. I'm still working on my first 1/2 of the bottle of Isopure. March Surgery!

1st day post op. Miserable from two tablespoons of veggie broth, drinking since 645 this morning. But I will keep that in mind. I literally have to take ten every hour to get it down. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App The very first sip I took from the little cup was a bit more than I should have tried. I threw it up. I know what I did wrong and it hasn't happened again! just pace yourself. By the time I finished ONE item on my breakfast tray - the lunch tray arrived! Hang in there girl! March Surgery!

This is my seventh post op day. I'm feeling pretty good - not much pain at all. However, the one thing that IS a pain is trying to get all the liquids in! The nurse from the hospital called to check up on me and said if I get at least one 20-ounce bottle of the Isopure in a day that's pretty good. Anyone else having issues getting their fluids? BTW - congrats to those that just had their surgery. I knew it would go well!
