I never count calories. I just go with common sense about what I choose to eat, and closely pay attention to how full I feel, so I don't overeat. (That's what got me in this mess in the first place! haha)

As someone who just got sleeved and became single about a week prior to surgery, I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't been on the dating scene for almost 7 years now. It's kinda scary, but exciting at the same time.
My plan is to stay honest. I'm against the idea of flat-out lying about my surgery; it would mean I'm embarrassed about it, and I feel like starting off a relationship based on half-truths/lies isn't the best way to do it. I plan on not bringing up the topic until the second or third date, unless the other person asks me about it.
My surgery doesn't define me as a person, hence why I plan on waiting a bit before bringing it up. However, it's still an important turning point in my life that my partner will have to know about.

Wow. I would've been so upset.
That's an incredibly inappropriate comment for a server to make. There's a difference between asking a guest if their meal was up to their expectations and outright asking such a personal question.

Christian or not, this is just not acceptable:
"I need to be on "His plan". And he is angry at me for gainig weight, and not being an obedient wife."
You are a grown, adult, human being. No one "controls" you.
If he can't lovingly support you, and accept that marriage is a partnership then he sounds like a lousy "husband". Coercion is not an expression of love.
No, he doesn't have to buy you junk food. But, he also doesn't get to criticize and belittle you without serious repercussions to your marriage. That is abuse as far as I am concerned.
There is a reason I'm not married...
This crap certainly wouldn't fly with me.
    You deserve so much better.

Let me share something with you. I'm five weeks postop. I have not been hungry ONCE since my surgery. Yes, there are some things that work better than others, some things are tastier than others, but I haven't been hungry once. It's pretty amazing! I actually eat on a schedule, because if I didn't, I wouldn't eat.
So hang in there, it gets better!

You know that's totally and completely normal, right?
After all the hurry and scurry of the preop process, sometimes I think there is nowhere for all that energy to go when you get down closer and closer to your surgery date, except worrying about all the "what-if's". I've only been here since last Fall, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen similar posts to yours.
It's hard to imagine life post-op. It's hard (for a lot of us) to imagine actually being successful at weight loss after years (decades, for some of us) of success that didn't prove either complete or long-term.
But this is different. It's real. It's life-changing. And it's GOOD. You've got this!

DirtyyMelodies reacted to bigguy928 in Confessions from one who did not follow preop diet diet
    Hello all!
Before you come at me sideways with your remarks realize this is simply what happened and I do realize that I should have done much differently. Hindsight is simply what it is... Hindsight. So save it!
My surgery was on Thursday the 25th of February. It was actually moved from the 18th of February because I was sick and told my doctor I wasn't able to follow the diet accordingly. He moved it back a week. Still even when I felt better I didn't follow it like I should.
I was to be on shakes 3 times a day for two weeks prior to my surgery. I only got a few shakes I'm per week and for the rest of my meals I was not only eating what I shouldn't have been but I was eating worse than how I ever eaten before. Of course I didn't want to tell my doctor the truth because I wanted to just get it done as I figured it would be much easier to follow the post op diet.
Man I had wished that I got my surgery pushed back. I ended up with a ton of internal bleeding. I vomited blood shortly after my surgery while I was in recovery. My vitals were out of control and they had to call rapid response. Turns out I lost a litre of blood and I had to go back under surgery again to fix my issue.
While the surgeon didn't say that not following the diet caused such complications, I know that if I had choice again I wouldn't even think about going off the preop diet. The pain and scare from internal bleeding was so unbearable I wouldn't wish it on anyone and for what just a little extra junk food?
All is ok with me now. I had to stay in the hospital a couple of days longer than normal but I'm out and following my diet as I should be. So if you're reading this and you're preop and you're tempted to go off your diet... Please don't make the same mistake I did. My medical team was amazing but I put myself at such great risk just to get some junk food in. Please share any thoughts or questions!

Losing weight in my feet would be AMAZING. I wear a size 11, and most stores here only carry up to a 10. I doubt it'll happen, though. My feet aren't really fat...
