Finally!!! A surgery date! After all the work, the Insurance denial, the appeal, the approval, and of course let's not forget all the waiting.... I finally got my news of the surgery date!! 11/21/16!!! ????
Obviously I would LOVE any November Buddies to keep in touch with me!!!

I have no idea the relationship between a mother and daughter but I suspect this has nothing to do with your weight. If it wasn't your weight, it would probably be your hair, or your teeth etc. People who typically do this are lashing out at you due to their personal inadequacies. Real or not. Perhaps her mother was very judgemental to her or her husband or someone else may have told her she was a bad mother and she sees your perceived flaws as her fault. Women are such beautifully complicated human beings. I pray you can show your mom some extra grace, as difficult as she can be. I pray you can let the words of hurt that have been spoken to you, drift away with the weight. I don't know you but you are such a strong person by getting this help to change your life. Forgive often, love without prejudice, and live life with no regrets! I wish you the best.

TAke a written list of questions with you -- those that have occurred to you already and whichever may arise from the responses here. Include anything that you wondered about at the info seminar.
You'll find, however, that many of your questions will be answered before you get a chance to pose them.
Take it easy. It's only an appointment. You won't be led off to the guillotine. Not yet, anyway.

I had my sleeve surgery September 2. I now have off-the-charts acid reflux. Prior to surgery it was occasional. I am having an upper GI on the 22nd of this month to see how things look, including the opening to my stomach. My dr. thinks I could have stricture, caused by keloid scarring. I don't feel terribly bad most of the time, but it has been difficult to lie down to sleep. He put me on Prilosec for 8 weeks to treat the GERD, then I go back on Prevacid to manage it. I hate to think this is what the rest of my life will be like. I'm hoping something can be done.
Aside from that, I've lost 80 pounds. I'm 20 pounds from my goal weight. I'm happy with the results, weight-loss wise, of the surgery. I don't struggle with hunger, I don't overeat, and I like shopping again!

This isn't a game! Or a contest. You're using the best tool available to save your life. If you were drowning in the ocean, would it be cheating to throw you a life preserver instead of making you swim for it? It's exactly the same thing. If they don't get that, ignore them and don't let it bother you. You're making the right choice for your health, and that's what matters. Congratulations!!!

This is me 4 weeks before surgery and 5 months after. It's not all rainbows and butterflies, but I'd do it again 100 times to feel as good as I do.

I am 33 months post op RNY. I would recommend that you take a good before photographs so that you can compare it to the after photograph. Often times we fail to really see ourselves. And after surgery, we sometimes question our weight loss because we have nothing to compare it to.
This is my 6 month before and after photo. I tried to duplicate the same pose.

This may sound counter-intuitive, but have you tried increasing your intake of Protein and complex carbohydrates? You are working out quite a bit and your body needs inputs. Our bodies kick into a survival mode when caloric intake drops. You might be there.
Have you been dropping sizes? It could well be that you have replaced fat with much denser muscle, so they scale has not moved but your body composition has.

That's exactly how my husband is! His mom had RNY 10 years ago. So luckily this isn't his first rodeo. He is my biggest cheerleader and I'm grateful for that...especially after seeing so many sad post on here where people don't have supportive family or significant others.

@@Smitty42 the odd and end things are exhausting. It never would have crossed my mind. But luckily it all worked out. It appeared to be something my husband's employer chose though. So hopefully it won't be like that for you!

@@sassyfrass23 I just started my process. I have UHC. I am so glad you posted this! I have my first dietician appointment today and will be in the office to ask about the 6 month pre approval for surgery. I would never have thought to ask this.

@@Renkoss have you heard anything yet? We just hit March and my heart dropped to my stomach when I realized I'm now in the same month as my surgery date. liquid diet begins 2 weeks from today. And surgery is 4 weeks from today! Whew....let the nerves begin.
