  1. I also had surgery with BCBS Federal, standard. I had to do 3 months of PCP supervised diet. Thankfully the weight loss center I went to had NUT and psych in the same umbrella, so each time I go and see who I need to see it is only one copay.

all together it will end up costing me about 1000, copays were at the time of visit, and 350 surgery prepay. Not bad to change my life forever, I reckon I will save that in food this year alone.

  2. before my sleeve I was ALWAYS hungry, no matter what eating plan, no matter the level of activity. I am kind of amazed I held my weight as low as I did, all things considered, but I didn't eat processed foods, or a lot of junk. I was just HUNGRY.

2 weeks out, I am occasionally mildly hungry, NOTHING like before and very little food fills me up and I am SATISFIED. I doubt this GP has ever had this kind of struggle.

I wish you all the best, and hope you find a doctor who will support you.

  3. I had the sleeve on February 17 - I am just now starting soft foods - REFRIED Beans have never tasted sooooooooooooo good. :-) so, Beans, cheese, I can have fish but I don't care for it. anything kind of mushy in my mouth. but REAL food. I am full quickly which amazes me, and I stay feeling full. no problem for me waiting to eat a half hour - because I don't really want anything else for at least that long. I am still having one Protein shake per day just to boost my Protein intakes because I can't eat very much food.

I am down about 12 pounds and it feels excruciatingly slow, but I am in this for the long haul

  4. So I haven't been on this forum in a while. I thought I would be having surgery in January. I have had so much happen within the last 4 months in the meantime I've kept up with my weigh ins and completed all my doctors appointments, well I just got insurance approval for surgery and can have it done as soon as 3/9! My problem is I started a new job 3 weeks ago... I was at my previous job for 3 years and thought that I would still be there and would have been comfortable taking time off but with this being a new job I'm stressing over what to do! I want the surgery but I'm afraid to take time off of this new job. I was told having a desk job some people go back to work after a week. But is that realistic? I know I can't predict complications. I'm just so confused right now.. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a desk job NO complications at all, and I could have gone back after a few days - I did go back after a week, and at my choice limited to 6 hour days for the first month, only because I usually get pulled for more overtime than I like. If you don't have OT concerns, then a full day of a desk job would be fine - assuming no complications. I am able to have Water or other drink at my desk, and even eat my Snacks there.

Hi there! Things will get moving again. The most important thing to realize is that 4 days with no loss is absolutely NOT a stall!

Now 3 to 4 weeks with no loss, yup that is a stall. Take it from me (queen of the stalls) it will come off if you follow the plan.

I have been weighing daily since my surgery. I learned very early on that my weight fluctuates from day to day. To weigh daily you have to have patience and a realistic expectation or this process will make you lose your mind and ultimately you will struggle.

I literally talk to myself before getting on the scale. There are days where I weigh a pound more than I did the day before and I know that really isn't possible given what I have eaten.

The good thing about weighing daily is you learn how your body reacts to certain foods. For example, if I had a heavy salt day, I won't lose and may even gain a little.

If I had a day where I exceeded Water, hit my Protein and stayed below my stats I might see a drop. If I do that 3 days in a row, chances are I will lose a couple pounds.

However, when you have a real stall there really is nothing you need to do but follow the plan.

I just want to tell you this is the most helpful response I have read to this kind of topic. Bless you.

  6. ok I hope 'm not alone in thinking this... 2 lbs a week sound like what you would get on a regular diet like weight watchers... I am not slaggin the process at all - just not familiar with the process.

I go for my sleeve Nov 3 and I'm really nervous smile.gif I guess the difference is that it's constant losses versus lose 3 one week and gain5 the next.. maybe someone can help me understand?

I see the total numbers and get it then - but breaking it down to a weightless per week - it seems low... what am I missing.

My doctor says that after the first month, the initial drop in those fat stores and Water weight, you can expect to loose between 8 and 10 pounds a month. I thought of ww too because they say 1-2 pounds a week. I have been on ww for 20 years and I have never lost that much consistently! I lost about 40 pounds once on ww and it was an average of 6 pounds a month but I didnt keep if off and it slowly came back on, even though I kept on with ww. I just got lazy and didnt keep it up as diligentlly as I should have. I am not saying ww doesnt work, I am saying its a tool, just like the sleeve is. Its not a miracle that you dont have to do anything and POOF the weight is gone. You still have to think about Protein first and getting your Water, etc. Its a great tool because its restrictive and you cant gobble down everything you once did. You have to work your tool and there are very few people who have lost 2 to 2.5 pounds a week on ww consitently (the key word here). If they did, it would have worked for many of us who have tried and tried and failed. Its your decision but dont be delusioned into thinking that its an easy fix or that you dont have to be careful what you eat after the surgery. Its working great for me and I love that I am not hungry and it makes me able to make better choices and not stuff myself. I have been more successful in the first two months than I ever have with anything else. I lost 11 pounds in the past month and I think thats pretty good, for a total of 37 since surgery 8/8. thats two months and three days. It took me five months to loose that with ww and I gained all back DOUBLE within a few years. This for me is a more permanent solution to keeping my weight off and being healthy. Good luck to you!

I am so thankful I saw your post. your signature line has been very helpful to me. I am 2 weeks out and only down 11-12 pounds and seem to be having my "3 week" stall a bit early. I walk, and walk and walk, and have been good with my Protein and fluids - it is frustrating to hear you loose the most at the beginning and then you aren't loosing.

  7. all I can think at 2 weeks out is, I have gone through all of this for 15 pounds? it is depressing. I just keep on going and hope it changes. I know you are all saying it will - but it is hard to believe it.

It will. Just be patient, follow your program, and stay off the scale.

    Embrace the Stall!

Thank you, I do understand - but it is so difficult. very challenging, and every little noise my family makes is driving me mad. :-) must be the hormones I've heard about.
