  1. I made a list from A to Z of what my long term goals and wishes are. Airplane seats all the way to zip lining! Some interesting ones that make me laugh, and one or two that made me cry. But basically I want a healthier body to live the rest of my life enjoying instead of hating each lump and roll. Love reading these posts and the before/after photos, so inspiring! Wendilin
  2. I'm 43, and I'm a coffeeholic too. I found some good recipes on Pinterest, some low carb pancakes, muffins, casseroles, even radish hash browns. Yuk! I found some low carb tortillas at the store, and I use them for wraps for lunches and burritos. We both like Mexican food so we do tacos and burritos often. If you shop on Amazon I found some yummy pepperoni sticks, 2 sticks have 1 carb. They are great for snacking with some cheese for a portable lunch. I am about a month into the process, hoping to have my sleeve in September. I'm from just outside Green Bay, wi which is where my surgeon is located. I have my psych evaluation on Tuesday and my first nutrition and exercise appointment on Friday. Where you located? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  3. Hubby and I are both doing this, so it's pretty easy to adapt our dinners. My sister in law had it about nine years ago and had four big boys and a hubby to cook for, that was hard as she just ate the same as them, just smaller portions. She is thinking of doing the diet part of the process again to try to lose weight again. Our family is horrible for meals, lots of celebrations at the Chinese buffet or bar & grill in town. It's been tough as far as that, but at home we do ok. I just had dinner, chicken from the deli with the greasy skin taken off. For dessert I had a bowl of strawberries with whipped topping from the can. I drink tons of Water which helps keep ,e from snacking. As far as breakfast ideas, I do a Protein drink and then I get my coffee from McDonald's and will get a sausage burrito, love those things and they aren't horrible to eat. I've seen other suggestions like the muffin tin omelette or quiche thingies, check Pinterest for ideas too. You are not alone with PCOS, I've seen lots of other ladies with it here. Good luck! 4. Hi there! I also have PCOS and my doctor is really behind me in my decision to have sleeve surgery. With the hormones all over the place it is hard to lose weight, add in thyroid issues that are common just makes it worse. I am on metformin, 1500 mg a day and do low carb. I've lost less than 3 lbs in a month, so yeah, I can lose, but it will take me years doing that to get to my goal. The decision is yours to make, but the tools available will make it easier to get to your healthy goal weight faster, giving you more time to work on other things like living your life! How long was your pre-op process?

I went to my seminar in February, had my first appointment March 7th, insurance requires 6 months supervised diet, so they can first send to insurance September 7th. Hoping to get sleeved in September yet as my mother in law is having surgery on October 3rd so she can help me and then I can help her. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Surprised at how fat I am

This thread hit my heart. I see the after photos of ladies in one leg of their jeans, and I hold up my jeans and think that I could never do that, my jeans are too narrow! Then I see the size they were and it's smaller than my size. I have a long way to go, surgery not till at least mid-September and over 130 to hit my personal goal. I have a bad habit that I have only told my hubby, and now you all. I always check out the room in a social situation to be sure I'm not the biggest person there. There's something in my mind that thinks I'm not that bad as long as at least one person is bigger than me. And if nobody is bigger, I find a reason to leave. Sad that I miss out on stuff because of my denial. But admitting that is part of the healing process for me. I'm down 7 pounds since my initial visit and I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly. Peace to you all as we heal and grow. ~Wendilin Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    MIGRAINE HELP!

I use mint aromatherapy for my migraines when I can't get to my meds. Ice on the forehead, cool, dark, and quiet. If you can tolerate, try some caffeine, that's what's in excederine migraine. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Surgeon Requirements

My hubby and I are going through this together. mine is covered and I am required to do the six monthly visits, three exercise visits, one psych evaluation, sleep study, letter from my primary care, nutritional visits till I'm cleared by the NUT, watch educational video series online, seminar, surgery class, meet with surgeon, and lose a certain amount of weight. Hubby is self pay and he has to do three exercise, psych evaluation, nutrition visits till cleared, same videos, same surgery class, meet with surgeon and lose weight. No six month visits, otherwise close to the same. And we can't do stuff together, they require our own appointments. We are going to appeal his insurance so his stuff may change. Hoping to get sleeved in September, start my new life! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  11. Glad you are having success, I had my preliminary pulmonary for the sleep study. Trying to get as much done as I can early on, hoping to get quick approval to be done in September, my MIL is having surgery on October 3 and I'd like to be able to spend some of my recovery time off with her while she heals. Any tricks or words of wisdom for this with aurora I'd love to hear! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Birth control after gastric bypass...

I'm pre op but I have pcos and have been on all types of BC? Started with pills but had to stop when I went on blood pressure meds, did depo for years, loved it but the weight gain was over 60 pounds. I have a mirena IUD put in last year, have had maybe 10 days of cycle in the 10 months I've had it. Love that I don't have to think about it, but it really doesn't do much for my hormone level fluctuations. I can't get pregnant so I don't worry about that, it's more to control bad bleeds for me. 13. Jargon, glad to hear it's going well, I just started the process hoping to get sleeved in September. Are you in Green Bay? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  14. I'm in your area and am going through aurora bay care in Green Bay. Not a fan of Midwest bariatric at theda, SIL went there and complained about her care team. We went to dr. McKenna, I think they go to Oshkosh for people there. Keep me posted on what you decide, I'm looking at a possible September surgery date. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
