Hey RI Banisters - I was unable to find a Dr. in RI to do the procedure so I opted for a DR. CT. His name is Dr. Enrich. I was looking for a support group that I can attend in RI but only found one at RI hospital that meets once a month? does anyone know of any others? I am schedualed to have surgery on Feb 26th! I am so excited! Did any of you have to do a 12 opti fast before surgery? I do, I haven't had my pre-op appointment yet so I have to ask them.

My name is Judi. I found your address on on the Lap Band talk forum and I thought I would right. No, I'm not crazy just another black sister on a weight loss journey using the Lap Band. I think you and I got banded two days apart. I was April 25th. I was wondering how you are doing? I am doing ok but I am struggling with staying on the liquid diet. I eat things that I like and make sure it's really small and liquified in my mouth but I end up being starving half the time. I hate that. So I have joined Weight Watchers and make good food choices but eat reagular food that I know will go down. I did have one episode where somehting got down but with prayer and some papaya enzimes it cleared it's self up by morning.
How are you doing? I hope you don't think I am crazy just looking for someone to talk too.

Thanks wombat712 - I am just glad to hear that I am the only one. I tried to find someone out there to tell the truth about how much they were able to eat. I really appreciate your response. Discipline and the power of God will enable me to get where I needed to go....perhaps a little slower than I first anticipated. Those who I have told are expecting drastic results and I don't want to explain it to them but I guess I just have to tell them the truth that this takes time. Can I ask, how long has it taken you to lose your weight?

Hey my brothers and sisters in Christ! I need to be REAL for a moment. I love the fact that when we came to Christ we did not have to put on any airs of who we are and what we have done nor what our struggles are. In this forum I pray it's the same. Well, here is my short story. I got banded over two weeks ago. Things went well however, I found out that same week I was able to eat whatever I wanted and almost as much as I won't. I am a little frustrated. I get my first fill on Monday but I am asking if anyone out there has been able to do the same after surgery. They are right when they say it's only a tool because until I can feel some restriction (because I don’t right now) the Band is not really working for me. I still have hope and I believe that the Lord has directed my foot steps but I am a little discouraged I must admit. I am supposed to be on a purée diet but I find if I chew food really well I don't have an issue. But last night before I watched American Idol I was able to eat 5 Oreos with milk like I was able to do before the surgery! I guess I am just reaching out to talk to someone who can offer some encouragement. Thanks -

See if you can get a fill quicker....it sounds like you need it! Don't worry the band works but you just have to tweek it until you find the right amount of juice! Good luck -
