    Additional Support

I like gastric sleeve support group. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App How do I access that group? I guess my issue with these groups is privacy. On FB people can see when you like a post or join a group. I want total privacy because very few people are aware of my surgery Smh Oh well, rant over Lol Dawnie_doo

Is that the blood thinner? If so, yes I did. It lasted a week and was truly painless. I barely felt the needle. You'll be fine. Dawnie_doo

I'm 2 weeks post op also. 20 lbs down, off of all meds for blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol. I hope to get off of the CPAP machine by October. I'm excited and I'm glad that we're all doing well, despite small challenges! Let's do this!!! Dawnie_doo

    Left-sided abdominal pain

OMG you may have just saved my life lol I need that wrap desperately! I have the exact passion on the left side and lower under below button too. Very painful at times. I also have ovarian cysts. There may be a correlation there. Dawnie_doo

    Protein and fluids

I'm 2 weeks post up and I used the 1oz med cups too. They helped a lot. I just moved on to taking sips directly from the cup. But I still measure it before I put it in the cup. I'm up to about 5 or 6 oz at a time...meaning it takes about 10 or 15 mins to drink that much. I made my 64ozs twice so far. Dawnie_doo

I haven't had the exact same experience. However, when I was moved to stage 2 I tried split pea Soup and was able to eat 1 ounce more than suggested. I'm supposed to get up to 4 oz by the end of stage 2, so I'm not getting anxious. The KEY is to eat slowly and give yourself time to signal that you're hungry. At first I "felt" hunger, but it really was in my head. All the commercials and smells bought back memories Lol but I quickly got that brain together. The BRAIN and the way we conceptualize food is a MAJOR component of our success or failure. Be careful and take note of your mental thoughts. Dawnie_doo
  12. Hello all!!! I'm 1 week post op today!!! Wooooooo hooooo!!! Lol It's truly an interesting experience. First, I had THE BEST surgeon and hospital staff that I could have in NJ. I was diabetic, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I was in for 3 days...15 staples, 1 drain. I was discharged on NO meds for any of the comorbidities. So far they're all under control and have been since the hospital!!! I left without the drain. Incisions are healing well. I just want these staples out ASAP!!! Lol they pull at the puncture points, which is more painful than the surgery Lol I'm focusing on walking and getting those liquids in...clear liquid diet for the first week after surgery. I've noticed some changes in tastes. I HATE the Jello that I used to love before surgery. I haven't been envious of those who can eat. Ironically, it helps me mentally to be around them. I've been watching the food Network and getting healthy recipes on Pinterest. I REFUSE to go through all of this and regain weight later. My husband has been super supportive!!!! He's been eating better...and wouldn't let me cook for him out of temptation. I have to cook...I love cooking...not an issue! Lol This mental hunger thing is REAL!!! I'm telling you, CHECK YOUR MIND!!! If you don't address the reasons that you over ate and treated your bodies wrong...you will go backward! I found myself struggling hard during the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I felt like it was punishment. I had to listen clearly and closely to my internal dialogue and check myself. I could go on...but I wanted to give you a lil of how the process has been for me. I can't be the only one experiencing some things. Overall, I feel great, even with the pain! I wouldn't trade this process for the world! It's making me stronger physically and mentally. May the progress continue... HW...325, SW...293, surgery weight...285, current weight...269!!!!! 13. I'm taking the Centrum Adult Chewable with Iron. It's not the gummy...that one doesn't have iron. The centrum tastes okay for a Vitamin lol Dawnie_doo

I was for a lil. Surgery was on 8/08. The closer it got the calmer I became. My nervousness bumped up when reality hit and I was being discharged to do this on my own. Lol It's all good. Continue to research and ask your surgeon questions. Strictly follow what they say, you will most likely do well. Dawnie_doo

    August Bypass Buddies!

Actually, the process was a lil easier than I expected so far. Yes, there is pain. But the greatest pain is from the staples pulling near the incisions. Plus I have a high bed..I need a stool to get in and out on a normal day Lol So this is painful. Other than that I'm blessed. I took no meds after surgery for high blood pressure, cholesterol, or diabetes. I was in for 3 days, drain came out just before I was discharged. My husband took 2 weeks off to help me after surgery. I'm about to go walk the mall with the hubby before it gets too blazing hot! Dawnie_doo

    August Bypass Buddies!

Here's an article that I found helpful regarding pre & post op diet and stages. Of course the info will vary from person to person and surgeon to surgeon, but this came very close to what I was instructed. Hopefully this helps someone... http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-bypass-diet-guide// Dawnie_doo

Yes my surgery was the same day. Not much pain, but soreness from the staples pulling as the incisions heal. They gave me Dilaudid and sent me home with enough to last a while. I'm no pill popper, but I definitely need one right now. Smh Dawnie_doo

I understand how you feel. I had to stop Naproxen. If I didn't tell them I was recently prescribed for pain that would've been a mess. All things are working toward your good. You wouldn't wanna bleed out on the operating table. Trust in the process. Dawnie_doo

I felt that way. The additional round the clock support was nice. The high praises were nicer Lol I was in a private room and 2 family members worked there, one being the head nurse on my floor, so I always had visitors. Now it's me and my hubby. That's cool tho, he's been great, helping me out soooo much! It's awesome thinking about all of the changes that happened. I get all emotional. I recognize that I'm truly blessed! Dawnie_doo

I weighed myself the day I got home from surgery...3 days later...7 lbs heavier. I'm not worried. With all the bags of liquid they pumped through me I almost expected it. I'm going to the bathroom alot so I'm sure it will fall off eventually. Dawnie_doo

These were recommended by the team for gas. OMG it saved my life. They're chewable, taste decent, and it works fast. I only had to take one. Now that gas is moving Lol Dawnie_doo

Man that liquid potassium is hot lava. My nurse even halfed it with Water and my arm was still on fire and still numb. I went thru 4 bags of that stuff. After all my suffering it was determined it wasnt helping. Lol. So I then was moved to the giant potassium horse pills. But that too was my only complaint. It's never too late, until its too late Lol Yessss They were like you're not doing horse pills with that tiny belly lol so true about that lava. I just sat with my eyes closed like okay Jesus.
