Depression
I have been successfully medicated for moderate/debilitating depression for 21 years. I'm absolutely terrified of becoming depressed after surgery. My PCP is worried about it for me as well. She has prescribed a liquid version of my current medicine to take during the liquid phase. <deep breath> I pray it works well. My very best to all of you struggling with it now. May it only be very short term.

List of things to take to the hospital?
Do they give you a list of stuff to bring to the hospital? What should I pack? I just read a thread about needing ear plugs for the days you stay overnight. I never thought of that. Great idea.

NC August surgery dates?
Is there anyone in North Carolina having their gastric sleeve surgery done in August 2016? Side note: I'm amazed at the vast number of people from around the world having this surgery done!

What didn't you ask your surgeon that you wish you had?
Were there any questions during your pre-op with your surgeon that you wished you had asked now that you are on the other side? Any suggestions of what questions should I ask?

What's on your bucket list?
On my bucket list once I reach goal weight: I want to do a zip line in the NC mountains through the trees! I'm saving for a Splash Painting by Christina Grenard. And I want to hike around Crater Lake in Oregon.

Temperature change post surgery?
Thanks for the feedback. It looks as though I will be throwing a sweater in the backseat. YAHHHOOOO!!!

Embrace the Stall
@InnerSurferGirl even though you posted it nearly a year ago, that's the best explanation of a stall I've read. I love the words you used... "dismantle a structure". I wrote it down and hung it on my bathroom mirror. You are QUITE an inspiration!!! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Temperature change post surgery?
For those who are post surgery status, do you notice that you are colder since getting closer to your goal weight? After complaining of being hot year around, even inside in the AC, my dietitian says once I lose weight I will need to carry a sweater with me. I hope this is a fact! I'm so tired of being hot! No liquid before during or after meals
This restriction completely makes sense, but wow, it's going to be hard. I drink Water with every single meal. @@LipstickLady your weight loss is impressive! You are a great example of sticking to the basics of sleeve eating. Thank you for your input. It helps to know not drinking with meals can be done. (OMGosh this is gonna be a tough habit to break.)

What's on your bucket list?
Tell me... what is on your bucket list now that you have reached a non-scale victory (NSV) or ultimate goal? Is there something you want to do that you've never dreamed of doing? Spill it!

Ugh. No filter family! >:(
Congratulations on your weight loss! Hooray for you! Your aunt... (laughing) I think we all have one of them. I had one who once said after not seeing me for 8 years, "You're so fat I don't even recognize you". I loved her so much I couldn't believe she said that. I would tell you to "make like a duck" and let it roll off your back. I'm certain your husband is so stinkin' proud of you and nothing else matters. The lesson in her rude comment is... Make a note to yourself to never say anything like that to anyone. Move forward girl!

Cravings
Agree with @@KristenLe Over the 6 months of visits with my dietitian, she pounded in my head that not enough Protein will cause sweet cravings. She challenged me on it. So I played around with it and she was so right! So maybe just go back to the basics and increase your protein throughout the day? I'm no expert by a long shot, but sometimes the basics are so obvious we forget them.

Scared of actual surgery
@Ivfavy c'mere and hold my hand while I tell you this. If you have a job and you do it every single day, day-in and day-out, would you want anyone else doing that job? The nurses and surgeons are trained to do this one thing over and over. They are incredible experts. They could likely do it in their sleep. Take comfort in knowing they really know what they are doing and relax into their proficient hands. Also know... by the time you get to the hospital, you will have been given so many instructions, which insure a positive outcome. You will have been prepped for months before you even got to the hospital. So take comfort in that as well. I would go so far as to say, the surgery will be the easiest part because you don't even have to participate. You get to sleep through it! Your assigned legions of angels are already around you. I can do all things through Christ. Phil 4:3

WLS bracelet or necklace?
My surgeon stated "it would be a good idea" to identify myself as having had a gastric sleeve with a bracelet or necklace post surgery. Not unlike someone would wears identification that suffers from seizures, allergies, or a heart condition. Have any of you heard of that? What are your thoughts? Pros? Cons?

Alex Brecher can you help?
Written partially tongue-in-cheek and partially from frustration, I love the feedback! Seriously @AlexBrecher, thank you for providing this place for us, the mostly misunderstood. With in-your-face hatred and prejudice on the planet, even if we are anonymous strangers, its wonderful to have a place to be understood. Thank you for the foresight you had to create a space for us to gather. We all have multifaceted lives, but in this one place, we can come together for a single purpose and feel stronger when we leave. (Not wanting to see the commercials about Olive Garden's Pasta lovers special again, I gather up my Kindle to read myself to sleep) Sweet dreams all.

Anyone looking at an August surgery date?
August 30th surgery date in Charlotte, NC I started this journey September 2015. I'm a fact finder by nature so I could not go into this until I understood it all. The research was part of it all. Now I'm ready.

Why im not going thru with surgery
@Littletiea it truly is not an easy decision. But know that you can attack your weight loss with the very same determination as when you were doing it on your own. It is just a tool. You know? A tool like a hammer. You cannot push a nail through wood without it. WLS was an amazingly long researched then finally offered tool to help you. You GOT this girl! LOOK at all your support from complete strangers! We have surrounded you and lifted you up. God placed us here,; in your life, for a reason... a second tool of support! Look this up if you'd like... Dr. Oz says that weight loss surgery is the most beneficial, under utilized surgery in the nation for curing co-morbidities and giving people back their life. May He continue to bless you and those who love you.

Do I need a warm body with me?
Thank you all for your input. I'm relieved to hear no one has to stay with me. I will have my 27 year old son take me and then pick me up when I'm ready to go. @trekker954 2 big dogs? And here I was worried about my 7lb cat wanting to sit on my chest as she does nightly. TGIF!
