Mine recommended the flint stone chewable. The Bariatric ones didn't sit well on my tummy. I use a multi Vitamin Gummy and a b complex. Oh and a B12 sublingual.
-
Mine wasn't for it at first but he came around when I showed him the research I had done. You can't go wrong with Dr. Illan and Bariatric Pal.
-
I wasn't aware there was two Dr. Ortiz. I am sorry! I know she went threw A lighter me (ALM). Elias Ortiz
-
She used Dr. Ortiz. That was who I was going to use at first. Then I talked to Stacy and Bill at Bariatric Pal. I seen the issues that my friend was having. I discussed them with Bill and decided that Dr. Ortiz just wasn't the fit for me. I did a lot of research. You have to find the doctor that is right for you. Dr. Illan's preop and post op was better suited for me. I also liked the fact that I had nutritional support for life. Stacy has had the sleeve and she is very helpful when it comes to stalls and knowing how I felt preop and post op. I am from Arkansas and so was Stacy. When talking to them I knew they lived in TJ Mexico. They work there and they knew the hospitals and doctors.

I am pretty sure Bariatric Pal can take a FSA. I used Dr. Illan and recommend him highly. I had a friend use Dr. Ortiz. Comparing the two experiences I choose Dr. Illan every time!

Hi MoeJoe27 congratulations.. How are you doing now.? did you go by yourself. how long did you stay>
I am doing great. No complications. No pain. My husband went with me. We were there 5 nights and 6 days. We went the day before my surgery instead of the day of. That was the best thing we could have done!
I guess you could say I was the perfect patient. I had some gas pain and that was it. I never got nauseous and sick. So fortunate.

I love Dr. Illan and his staff. The hospital was great and so was everyone with Bariatric Pal. Bill and Stacy went way out of their way to make us feel special. Bill will always be quick to answer any questions. I love that I have a nutritionist available to answer questions anytime. Dr. Illan will call or email to answer your questions before and after surgery. I am so glad I went with Bariatric Pal.

I have seen people that are well aware of the reports against this doctor and for some reason they say it's the patients fault. I am not sure what they are smoking

I had my done in the states an my friends had there's done in Mexico an the only difference I can see was the fact I have a doctor here. An they paid half my price.
Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
I have a Bariatric doctor here too. I secured one before I left in case I had any problems when I got him. He understood why I went Mexico. So far I am two weeks out and I have had no problems. It was just way cheaper and I knew people that had done it. Oh and I follow up with my PCP.
-
You right. I chose a hospital that had an ICU and proper monitors etc. I wanted to know that if an emergency arose I would not have to be transported to another facility to get appropriate care. The hospital I used was florence. I was not exposed to any patient that was not Bariatric. They have their own wing separate from other patients.
-
When choosing a doctor please chose a hospital too! Some are called hospitals and are nothing but clinics that are not set up for emergency situations.

I was sleeved on 3/8/16. I got the best doctor in Mexico, Dr. Illan. I booked threw Bill with Bariatric Pal Team MX. I have contact numbers is you wanna call and discuss with Bill. Dr. Illan and his staff were wonderful. The hospital was Florance. It was great. Don't let some of these groups fool you. Some of them operate in clinics and not hospitals. I chose the hospital that had an ICU in case of complications. Another reason I chose dr Illan is because he is an ER trauma surgeon! Yes he's a Bariatric doctor but he's an ER surgeon and I do believe he's chief of the hospital. Anyway.... He was better than any doctor I have ever had in the states. I will be glad to answer any questions you have. Bariatric Pal get a 10 star rating from me and my husband.
After care... My PCP will do blood work.... If I need a Bariatric specific doctor there are ones in the states that will take you on. I have had no problems!

You can not go wrong by choosing Dr. Illan and Bariatric Pal. I know from personal experience I had nothing to complain about!

Asked my doctor and he has no clue what the RN is talking about. Just thought maybe someone on here had heard of it
-
I had my surgery in Mexico. When I got home my best friend had talked to her cousin that is a RN. The RN said that I would stay sick all the time because the portion of my stomach they take out helps the immune system by making electrolytes. Now that it is gone my body won't make any more so I will stay sick all the time. I had never ever heard of such!
-
Has anyone been told by their doctor that having the sleeve will remove part of the stomach that makes electrolytes to fight off colds, flu, allergies etc.? And have they told you that you will be more open to illness afterwards?

Sleeved threw Bariatric Pal Dr. Illan

Have you made a decision on a doctor and facility? I went to Mexico and loved my hospital and Doctor
-
Have you paid yet?

That was a great review. Thank you. Do you mind me asking what your starting weight was?
I am not sure what my weight was at the hospital but before I started preop it was 350 lbs.

My journey began when I met Stacey Yanez threw a friend of mine. I had been researching surgery in Mexico because my insurance would not pay in the states. Not only did her and her husband Bill work for a Medical Tourism company.... They lived in Mexico. They drive, eat, work, sleep and experience life in Mexico. They know the doctors and hospitals. They see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears. Nothing is word of mouth! So when Stacy said she lived in Arkansas at one point in her life I knew that was the sign I needed to trust this lady. Then she recommended a doctor. She didn't recommend this doctor just for sales and marketing she recommended the doctor because Bill, her husband, has chosen this doctor for his gastric sleeve! If she could trust this doctor with her husband that was good enough for me. I booked my surgery and then my flight. Three week of preop diet and I was on a plane to TJ Mexico. I thought OMG I am really doing this!!! Stacey picked my husband and I up at the air port and from that point on I was fine. All worries vanished and all fears melted away. I knew I would be fine because Stacey and Bill said I would be. The next day I went to hospital florence for preop and met the internal medicine doctor and Dr. Illan. They did blood work, X-rays, and an EKG. Everything rolled smooth and I was in surgery at 12 noon. Surgery lasted 45 min to an hour and I was awake fully by 2pm. The nurses were wonderful! Rosa was over the nurses and she was amazing! She was just sweet as pie! They all spoke enough English that they could communicate. Ross spoke English extremely well. They kept nausea and pain meds coming. I was never doped up so much I couldn't walk. I walked and walked the halls trying to get rid of the gas. My biggest problem! Never felt sick to my stomach or threw up (my worst fear). A swallow test was done the next and that was the worst to me. I hate that Barium liquid. GROSS! The hospital beds were so much more comfortable than the US. Usually after a hospital stay I need back surgery lol but these were nice. Oh and a bed was provided for my husband too. Two days in the hospital and then to the recovery house. I had heard nasty remarks about recovery houses...... Let me say this Bariatric Pal has top of the line Recovery houses! I would much rather be in a recovery house than the hotel! It was like a condo! We had a fridge, microwave, stove, Water cooler, new furniture, soft beds, a billion channels on TV, and wifi. I forgot to say that 24 hours a day during this trip you had someone available to you and when I say available I mean the were in the waiting room at the end of the hall at the hospital or in another condo at the recovery house. They would go get you and your companion anything you wanted! From Coke and food to Shampoo and soap. These guys were top notch! There was another gentleman that had surgery the same day as me. My husband and his wife were treated like royalty by Bariatric pal. Bill and Stacey went out of their way to make us feel like family. I am forever grateful for their kindness.
Dr Illan and Palola, the nutritionist, came to the recovery house to speak with us and gave us the opportunity to ask questions that we may not have thought of in the hospital. Dr. Illan was available to us at any time. I don't know of any doctor in the United States that will give you that kind of attention and bed side manor! I am currently seven days post op and I spoke to Dr. Illan yesterday! He called me! I have NEVER had a doctor call me. Nurses call me but not the doctor themselves. Best doctor ever! The owner of Bariatric Pal Team MX David Lopez personally made sure our stay at the recovery house was perfect. He sat down with us and listen to our reviews and any constructive criticism we had which wasn't much lol. Mexico was a wonderful experience! I can't wait to go back on vacation! Oh and we had a super early flight back home and Stacey personally made sure we were there in plenty of time! I have nothing but waves of great reviews for this company and Doctor. If anyone has any questions please please ask! If you need numbers to speak to someone to schedule your new journey let me know! Tell them you read Chasity's review! And no I don't gain money from sending them people. I value their service and attention to every little detail and I want you to have the same great experience too! I have had no complications. No pain meds since I left the hospital. No vomiting or severe nausea. I had the perfect sleeve experience. I owe that wonderful experience to a great company, Bariatric Pal Team MX and a stupendous Dr. Jalil Illan!!!!

Oh and I totally forgot to say the nutritional support is for life. The nutritionist came to the recovery house and talked to us for as long as we needed.
