I follow my nut and surgeons religiously...except for this
Every Friday night I take a heap of laxatives so I can clear myself out for the week. So I only go one day a week, but a few times in that day.
I know I have to stop as long term it is a really bad way to manage it, but I had a few really bad bouts trying to pass a freaking watermelon, and I never want to go back there.
    Chastise away.

I second the stool softeners.......but not for weight loss...... whatever you do....don't wait until your bound up......or it will make you welcome death. Really.....all things considered....make SURE you stay regular. Use the stool softeners and keep some Magnesium Citrate on hand just in case.

I will be contacting my Bariatric specialist tomorrow but just wanted to find out if anyone else here has had this issue. My scale has NOT budged since my 2 week post op. appointment. I will be at 5 weeks post op. on Friday, April 1st and I am in the puree phase. I am following my program (both from surgeon and NUT) exactly and the inches are noticeably coming off (YAY) but my scale has not moved-what's up with that????
I get in between 45-50 g Protein a day, only can eat about 2 T of puree at a meal (am eating recommended foods) and am walking about 1 mile per day.
Any thoughts you might have would be great, just wondering if anyone else stalled at this point?

Syntrax nectar, Isopure, and GENEPRO are my best friends.
I just started puréed food yesterday and was able to get most of my Protein from food. For bkfst I made a green strawberry & spinach smoothie with coconut Water and a scoop of GENEPRO. Each scoop is only a tbsp and 30g Protein. You can add it into anything, it's great. A lot of times I add it to unsweetened applesauce.
Then for a mid-morning snack I used a Hillshire Snacking pack (grilled chicken bites) and puréed the chicken with the honey mustard dipping sauce. Each pack is 15g protein and 120 cal. It was delicious.
lunch was a pack of lemon pepper tuna mixed with a couple tsp mayo, puréed. That was only about 123 cal and 18g protein.
And dinner I puréed some grilled chicken and hummus, with a couple of pitted kalamata olives thrown in. That was about 200 cal and 20g protein.
In between all of that I drink as much Water or Syntrax Nectar (if I need protein) as I can. Some days I don't hit 64 oz but I try to get as close as possible. Syntrax makes it easier to hit liquid and protein simultaneously.

My back hurt the first night, the incisions hurt like a mini cut not to bad.. the gas is the pain, so walk it off. Ask for gas relief medicine or bring Gas X strips..wear loose clothes.. other than that be strong and positive.. good luck my March Sleevers

I have a 13 month old baby.. i just had surgery on the 16th.. its really hard. You need someone to stay with you and help with your child. You will not be able to carry them. Remember take care of yourself because even if you feel okay your insides are not. Trust me my son cried and called out to me and i went to grab him and hurt myself.. I understand a mothers love but please take care.. good luck

Home today from the hospital. My surgery was March 7 and went great! I'm not all that sore, but I've had some bad gas pains. It's getting better, though. I'm drinking Water, Powerade Zero, and broths. I have no hunger, which is amazing!

No advice from me. But count your blessings. Some of us have 2 week - 1 month liquid diets! ???????? I'll pull out my books of foods/suggestions from the surgeon's office and see if I can send you some pictures of it!

Hello everyone I am super excited about finally scheduling my Gastric sleeve surgery March 16. Now that I finally paid everything off I can't believe I actually made it. Now I just have to fight the anxiety off on this month count down. I'm so nervous. Any tips on keeping calm before the surgery? What should I enjoy before surgery besides food? Thanks
