    Do you think...

My surgeon scheduled a date before sending to insurance but waited to schedule the pre-op appt until it was approved, it took less than a day to get approved. Good luck!
  2. My surgery was last Wednesday. Wednesday through Friday were pretty painful most all the time. Saturday and Sunday were better but still hurt a bit. Monday and Tuesday, I started to just take Tylenol and by Tuesday afternoon, I wasn't taking anything. Now at 9 days post, I only really feel it if I bend over or stand up really fast, I have to remind myself to slow down!
  3. I had my surgery on Wednesday and got to come home today, I am having regret too but my regret is directly related to the pain. I feel like the 40+ people at the support group meetings I've been going to since January didn't tell the truth about the pain. I was not expecting the pain, it is the worst I've ever had and I've had two children naturally and walked around with a heel fracture for more than a year before taking the time to get it taken care of.

How do I ask my doctor?

My surgeon's office called my PCP and told them I needed a physical and a letter of reference to submit to insurance. I didn't have to tell him anything, I just had to show up to the appointment!
  5. I have very severe plantar fasciitis and have had it for two years. I've done lots of time in the bootcast and struggle to walk for exercise outside of my normal day. If you really focus on your food choices, the weight will hopefully come off. I had my surgery on Wednesday and I started the process at the end of January. From January to Wednesday I went from 311-265 with a better diet and very limited exercise.

    New life starts today

Good luck! My surgery is at noon today!
  7. They set a date for me prior to sending it to insurance for approval, once I had completed all of their requirements. Insurance approved in a day and my date was confirmed.
  8. I can relate. I started this process on January 28, I was 311 pounds. I got to 275 just following recommendations from the dietician. My liquid diet started 4/11 just like yours and I was 275, it has been 9 days and I am at 272 so I've only lost 3 pounds. I feel like my body just isn't taking in enough to let go of any weight right now.

    Plantar Fasciitis

I've had it for over two years. Wearing a boot cast for 8 weeks is helpful and will reduce inflammation. I've had 3 cortisone shots and they really help. Physical therapy and stretching your calf muscles will help too. Therafit shoes are made for this condition and provide a lot of support. They are the only kind of shoes I can wear and still be able to walk in by 3pm.

    One week approval

I didn't have to do a 3 month diet but since January, I've been meeting with the dietician every 3 weeks to be weighed and go over what I have been eating. It is so show commitment to making a change in eating habit and learn healthy eating skills.

    One week approval

That's awesome! I have BCBS also and mine was sent for approval on a Friday, it was approved that Saturday, and I had a note waiting in my mailbox on Monday telling me I was approved. I couldn't believe how fast it was, I had told myself to just wait and planned to call weekly to check on it. Good luck!

    Hi!

My first visit was January 28 and my surgery is scheduled for April 27, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield.
  13. I was approved today and my date will be April 27!
  14. The doctor called me today and said my test results were all good and I would be called back for preop stuff and testing soon. Then someone from his office called me later and said I've met all of their requirements and she will be getting everything together to go for insurance approval. My date is April 27 as long as insurance approves. What are some reasons that insurance doesn't approve? Is it normal to have a surgery date before it is even approved?
  15. I had the upper endoscopy this morning and he said there was a very red inflamed spot on my esophagus and my lower stomach was inflamed and they took several biopsies. Was anyone else told something similar? How long did you have to wait for biopsy results. I am hoping it is related to acid reflux. He also found a hiatal hernia, which I know nothing about but he said it would be repaired when I have the sleeve surgery.
  16. Does anyone else have this insurance? On my first visit, the nurse looked at the BMI listed from my primary care dr paperwork(41.9) and said that was all I really needed. I had printed out my paperwork that the insurance company sent me but I felt like I was reading a foreign language, the nurse didn't want to look at the paperwork, she said it wasn't needed because I had a BMI over 40 and some comorbidities. Today (3 weeks later) I went for my 2nd apt with the dietician and she said I've lost the 15 pounds needed and have done all the tests but she didn't sound very convincing that everything was in order. When I got home, I called and asked to the talk to the nurse who oversees everything. She said I've done a great job getting everything done and they are just waiting for my paperwork on psych eval, I did that 1.5 weeks ago. Then she asked if I had an insurance policy that makes me wait 6 months. I said I wasn't sure, that I had asked at first apt for someone to go through the insurance lingo with me. She wasn't helpful. So I still don't know if I need to wait 6 months even though all of my steps are complete once I go to the last required support group meeting tonight. If you have this insurance, what has your experience been?

    I work with Insurance.

Sarah 82, I have Excellus SimplyBlue Plus Silver 10 and I cannot get an answer as to whether or not I need to have a 6 month supervised diet and weight loss plan. Is this something that you are able to check into? I've called the insurance company twice and they've emailed me paperwork but it is like reading a foreign language. At my first visit to the bariatric center, I brought all the paper work that insurance had emailed me and the nurse looked at it and said I was fine since my BMI was over 40. Then the same nurse asked me last week if my insurance required a 6 month supervision period.

    Preop

I have discovered unjury chicken Soup Protein powder and it is so nice to have a hot Protein Drink, it is only 100 calories but tastes like a nice bowl of comforting chicken soup. I have that when I feel cravings or longings for some comfort food.

    Empire BCBS

Mine isn't Empire BCBS but another variation of BCBS and yesterday my doctor said it should be less than a week typically. Good luck!
  20. I'm from Cato, so about 35ish minutes from Syracuse. What hospital will you be going to Beth Allen?

I go to my psych eval this afternoon.

I had mine a week ago. It started with a bunch of questionnaires and she rated them and said I didn't have any concerning answers or markers. Then she asked about my family health history and mine. She asked about my relationship with my husband and children. We talked about my goals and my plans. I was so nervous and it was really very easy.
  22. I had my initial consult two weeks ago where I met with the surgeon and the dietician and set up several appointments. The surgeon said that I am a perfect candidate being that my age is 33 and even though my BMI is 41.9, I do not have many health issues but my BMI was high enough that insurance should find it acceptable. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Silver Plus. What appointments and tests did you have to have prior to everything being sent to insurance for approval? I met with a psychiatrist and passed that part, tomorrow I see Physical Therapy, the dietician, and have an ultrasound scheduled to check my gallbladder. Friday, I have an endoscopy, At the time of the initial appointment, I felt overwhelmed by all of the appointments that were being scheduled and I didn't think to ask about a timeline of future appointments and tests.
  23. Wow, it seems some people have many more steps than others! I also watched the video, and am required to go to 3 support group meetings prior to surgery. Tonight will be my third meeting. Then after surgery, I will be required to attend four on the first year.
