    I Miss Food

Maybe you can reschedule your fill appointment until after the meds are out of your system. Then you'll know if you need more or less or can stay the same.

    Acid reflux after a fill

I had the same problem recently. I gave it a week, without any improvement. I went back in and had the fill removed and am feeling much better. I was not charged.

    Filled too much

Got the fill removed and feeling much better! Thank goodness.
  4. So, I was pretty sure I had reached my green zone. I was feeling good. Had a few incidents of getting stuck, but nothing major. I was losing weight pretty steadily. This was after only two fills. The nurse at the office was kind of on the fence of if we should fill a little more or not. She kind of convinced me to have a little bit more to help curb the afternoon hunger I would sometimes feel. Well, now I am miserable! I am probably going to lose weight faster, but I can barely eat anything. I get stuck a lot more on food that didn't bother me before. Last night was terrible after only two bits of meat and 1/4 an ear of sweet corn. This is not how I want to live. I want the band to help me control my portion size and keep my from eating mass amounts of carbs. That's exactly how it was before and I loved it. It has only been one week with the new fill. Should I have the previous fill amount removed or give it a little more time to settle down?

    Filled too much

Thanks! I am going to call today. They do give me a cup of water to drink after the fill and that went just fine. I was okay on the liquid diet the next day, but could tell even my morning protein shake wasn't going down so great. We have a little two day trip to St. Louis coming up and I don't want to be worried about running to the bathroom to puke all the time.

    Can't band the brain

Are you exercising? That will help with the weight loss as well as they depression/anxiety.

    Can't keep anything down

Can you keep liquids down? I suggest going back to your doctor.
  9. I make protein balls for a sweet treat - 1 cup natural peanut butter w/honey, two scoops chocolate protein power and a few mini chocolate chips sprinkled in. Roll into balls and freeze.

    Does anyone dance for exercise?

I do Zumba and step class and have never had a problem! Move it, Baby!!
  11. If you don't have any other medical issues and given your current weight, I think you might be better off to look at lap-band or another WLS that is not quite as drastic as gastric bypass. Ask your doctor if he'd be willing to sign off on something else, besides gastric bypass.

    Feeling demoralised...

That is frustrating, but don't give up on yourself or the lap-band. Try to find a support group or go back to your surgeon's office and talk to the nutritionist. It's never too late to recommit to yourself. I agree that the snacking may be causing some of your problems. Try to cut those out or replace them with healthy choices or just a bottle of flavored water. The flavor surprise will hopefully make it seem like a "treat". YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

    March 2016 Banders check in

I had my second fill last week. I can tell a difference this time! Had my first experience of "getting stuck". We had been at a softball tournament. I had a protein shake for breakfast, but then didn't eat until almost 4:00 pm. We stopped at McDonald's and I got a chicken snack wrap. I think I just started eating too fast because I was so hungry, but those first two bites got stuck and I didn't really know what to do. I thought if I coughed or tried to burp, it would come right back up and we were in the car. So, I took a sip of water and just sat and let everything settle down. After a few minutes, I was okay and finished my snack wrap a lot slower and tore off most of the tortilla. If I see good weight loss, I might just stay at this level for a while. How are you doing Xtina?
  14. How is everyone doing? I've done pretty well so far, I think. Down 23 pounds as of this morning and looking forward to my first fill on Thursday. That will be 6 weeks post-op. Has anyone had any troubles so far? I haven't found any foods that make me throw-up yet. I find it hard to eat slow, so I am hoping I can slow down a little more after my fill. All in all, I am happy with my decision so far.

    Failing my LAP-BAND and myself

I am glad removing the IUD has helped the situation. After your body has rebalanced itself, maybe a fill is in order for full benefits from the lap-band. Best of luck going forward.
  16. Glad you finally got into your doctor for some answers. Hopefully it keep improving now with proper care.
  17. I just had my second fill. I hope it helps more with the hunger. I do okay in the mornings, but by late afternoon/early evening I am getting hungry. I think you just need to be patient and unfortunately work a little harder at losing weight until you reach the sweet spot where the band is working at it's best. Best of luck!

    Drinking

I waited 2 months and had a vodka and Crystal Light, Definitely hits you quicker without as much food in your stomach. I have since had a few glasses of wine and that didn't cause any problems either. Of course, I just had my second fill. Things may change as the band tightens.

    Failing my LAP-BAND and myself

I am new to the whole lap-band experience, but I have been in your shoes a couple of times in my life in regards to regaining weight that I worked so hard to lose and then just not having the motivation to restart that struggle. I do have a question. Do you still have your lap band? Is it not giving you any kind of support or are you just fighting against it? The advice I see most often to regain control is to start over with the beginning diet. Go back to protein shakes, soft foods, etc... This seems like a good way to get rid of the healthy habits and cravings and just reset your mind and body for the work ahead. I think I would also go back to a bariatric center and see if the band is still filled or might be something that has happened over the years to make it less effective for you. Best of luck!

How long were you off work?

I had surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I have a desk job and wore elastic waist paints for a few days. Best wishes!
  21. It will go away. Mine took about a week to completely go away.

    March 2016 Banders check in

Hi Xtina, Yes, I had my fill on 4/14. It didn't make as much of a difference as I was hoping. They added 1.5 cc. My next one is scheduled for 5/12. Down another 3 pounds, but still eating way more than I probably should be on some days. The best part is I am fitting into some spring/summer clothes that wouldn't fit last year.
  23. 1) I was up and around pretty quickly. I took a nice long nap after I got home, but after that I could move around pretty well. I took pain medication for about two days. After that, I just took it to sleep for a couple of days. I was home by myself the day after the procedure without any problems. You don't really eat much the first couple of days anyway, so not alot of food prep going on. I had procedure on Thursday and went to my daughter's music contest on Saturday. 2) Don't know about this. 3) I told a few people, but not everyone. I'm not trying to hide it and it's nice to have support, but some people hear about any kind of weight loss surgery and they expect you to lose 100 pounds in 6 weeks! Once I've lost the weight and people ask me about it, I will most likely tell them that I had lap band. Plus I know if I tell a few people, then those few people are going to tell a few more and word will spread without me having to make the rounds myself. Good Luck!

Also found a recipe for an easy protein snack. Use 1 cup of natural peanut butter, 2 scoops of protein powder and mix it together. Form into balls and freeze. You can also add oats, nuts, or mini chocolate chips for added texture and flavor. YUMMY!

    Decisions to make

Is there anyway that you can change the type of surgery that you want without losing your place in line? Maybe lap band or gastric sleeve would be enough to help you keep the weight off, instead of going for the full gastric bypass. Just something else to consider.
