I will be the first to start

I would run my friend Sue used him and almost died, he left a sponge in her. I think Tijuana is perfectly safe but after almost losing her it opened my eyes to making sure I pick the right doctor and a well equipped facility. I just was denied for the third time by insurance and so I have in my mind struck out and have to look at Mexico. I am going to go about this in a different way then how I started before. My life is very important and so here is how I am now going to do my research. 1. If I am paying out of my pocket then I want a real hospital not a clinic like my friend had. 2. I want my own private room and bathroom. If I have to share then what other corners are they cutting. 3. I want to see an ICU where I am going. You know some of these clinics say they have an ICU when it is really the OR. Not good if it is in use when your in trouble. 4. I want a doctor who only does 3-4 surgeries a day. 5. I know everyone has complications so I want the coordinator to be truthful not fill me with a line of BS that is not true to get my money. 6. I want a doctor who is going to do the right procedure for me and not what I think I want. If I need a by-pass and not a sleeve then be truthful. Don't do the bypass for more money do it me and my quality of life after. I can only afford to do this once I cant afford a revision. The doctor your talking about has a hate. I just want a good doctor with a real hospital and I want real results for my real hard earned dollars.
  2. Well I have put a lot of consideration into this and because I cannot find any post with complications or negative results with Dr. Illan. I see that his past patients are very happy with their choice in picking him for their sleeve. After many conversations with Bill Yanez, Dr. Illan's coordinator I decided Dr. Illan is right for me. Every time I have a question Bill has got back to me right away with answers and I love the fact the even Dr. Illan is available to answer questions on the forum and on the phone. I cant get my PCP to call me even if my life depended on it and the nurse always says they will call back but it is usually several hours later or the next day if at all. I am saving money and almost there, I am looking into having it in May hopefully I will have my tax return in by then. I cant wait to get the process started.
  3. Holy OMG, I think I would have freaked out completely from day 1. I am so glad that I did not decide to go through them instead I am going through Bariatric Pal. I have a friend who is going soon and I can wait to here her experience with them. She is having her surgery with Dr. Illan. For me so far everything has been perfect which is hard for me to believe. If I call my coordinator Bill he answers every time and always has an answer for me if not he gets right back with me and he has a answer. I am still up in the air as to who I want as my doctor. I am still doing my research.

    Looking for a surgeon

I don't think they would be a good fit for me. I really like what I am seeing and reading on all the many profiles on Facebook and other Forums about BariatricPal Team MX. I have talked to one of the coordinator and they seem very informed of the procedure and the facilities used. I also like that if I go with them they are all on sight so I can meet my coordinator. I was just notified that they also have a nutritionist that will come and see me before I leave and help me get started on my first week when I get home. I will also have her for 3 years. I still have not made my mind up on the surgeon because I want to be able to have a consult with each one and this will also help me to decide which doctor will make me feel more comfortable about coming to Mexico.

    Looking for a surgeon

I think I am weighing in the direction of Dr. Illan as I like the fact he seems to be more accessible. I still am doing my research. I was wondering do you have to have your gallbladder removed if eight loss surgery?
  6. Hello, I am new to this forum, my friend told me about it as I am going to have to be a self pay. I have done research on other forms and have been reading through all the many post and I am wanting to get some information from past patients. I have been denied by my insurance several times now and so have decided to look into Mexico as I can not afford to pay in the US. Over the last several months I have made a list of doctors I think would be a good fit for me but just need some insight from past patients. I have been looking at Dr. Illan, Dr. Zavalza, Dr. Pounce or Dr. Lopez and would like to here the good and the bad and how I start the process to get qualified for one of these doctors. I would like to know what the facilities are like and if I come alone would I be safe. I do not speak Spanish so this is also a worry of mine. How bad is the pain, I have seen many say there is no pain or very little and I find it hard to believe as this is major surgery. I have had many surgeries in the states so this wont be my first rodeo as they say. Any advise or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hello, I am new to this. I have look on other forums but was told by a friend to try here. I am a self pay and looking to go to Mexico but not sure where to start. I have heard of several doctors and trying to find the right one for me. I have narrowed my list of doctors down to 3 that I am looking into and would like some feed back at to your experience, and who you went through to book with them. D. Zavalza, Dr. Illian and Dr. Ponce. Thank you for your help
