  1. Congratulations! I am 5.5 weeks pregnant also but I am 20 months post gastric bypass! I talked with my bariatric surgeon and he suggested I take two prenatal vitamins a day, but he had no recommendations for brand. When I had my first my OB told me any OTC prenatal would do as there wasn't a ton of difference between them. Since you had a sleeve and don't have the malabsorption (like with bypassing the first portion of small intestine with bypass) I would think your vitamin needs wouldn't be as big of a deal! I'm excited this time around to actually look pregnant and not just extra fluffy!
  2. Happy surgiversary people!! SW-274 CW 168 The second
  3. I had surgery 4/4/16 HW 274 SW 248 CW 184.4 I'm so close to no longer being obese!! The first pic is about 4-5 years ago, I was probably 250 ish Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I love seeing side by side progress pics! Ah hell, I just love seeing pretty much any picture of me now! The first picture I was around 252lbs, and was super uncomfortable in those size 20 jeans The second pic is 177lbs, with a pair of size 14 jeans I had to keep pulling up all day! I have finally gotten my BMI under 30! And now jeans that I wore when I was 20 are too big! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. Thank you all! I had surgery 4/4/16, I do feel much more comfortable in my skin! But I am still frequently afraid of weight limits on chairs and such! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I really have been able to tell a lot of changes in my body even though when I look in the mirror I don't exactly see them! I have had a relatively easy time with everything. I realize when I do feel crappy and dump it is my fault, but even then it isn't terrible. I know I am lucky, but I do think a lot of your post op experience has to do with your mentality in general. I am so glad I had this procedure done, before having RNY on 4/4/16, I would work out for 1-1.5 hours a day 4x/week. I lost a little but it was incredibly slow and if I worked out any less or took a vacation for eating healthy I would gain back in a weekend what took me a month to lose. I just found out today that a good childhood friend of mine died of a heart attack last night. Just weeks before her 31st birthday. She was obese her whole life, and since her passing it makes me even more thankful I made the decision I did. HW:274 SW:245 CW:219
  8. When you guys got to the lower 200's, did it seem like it took FOR-EV-ER for the scale to drop below 200? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. The good news is I feel better and I can see the changes! The first time in a LONG time I'm buying clothes/scrubs with no X's in the size! The hospital I work for has an awesome bariatric program, they have you meet up with personal trainers for health coaching, and they have a body fat scanner thing. I went today and my body fat is down 6-7%, down a total of 71lbs since heaviest, and since two weeks post op when I had my last scan, I have only lost 8lbs muscle. She suggests I get back in the habit of lifting weights, which I was doing a lot pre-op but I wanted to get under 200lbs, so I focused more on cardio. It was a good reminder that if you lose the muscle your metabolism slows down so much more with the restricted food intake. I didn't weigh myself today, but after drinking a lot of fluids and with clothes on there I was 203, so who knows I may have made it! Good luck to everyone here that knows the struggle! Amino Fuel

Isopure also has a pretty good Amino supplement for recovery, it is a little chalkier than I prefer, but the flavor is good Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Amino Fuel

I have used Amin.0 in the past, it's low sugar, only like 5-10 calories per scoop, but it does have caffeine which some people aren't allowed to have. The taste is pretty good, well for the grape and orange, I don't suggest lemon lime. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My surgeon told me I could do a bunch of different Vitamins or I could get Optisource vitamins (I get them on Amazon) they are chewable and I just take 4x/day. I also have prescription Vitamin D that I needed before surgery, and I added Biotin to try to help with hair. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Adhesiolysis, is basically when they cut bands of scar tissue that can form from a previous abdominal surgery. 4 days post op, I would expect pain, and probably even worse pain than the first two days as you start to get some energy back, as a post op nurse I always tell people around day 3 seems to be the worst. Did they do the adhesiolysis and gastric bypass at the same time 4 days ago? Either way, esp since it is now business hours I would contact the physicians office and inform your surgeon. Pain that comes and goes or moves all around is generally a little less concerning than constant pain that stays in the same place. Generally, adhesiolysis can help improve pain afterwards as you don't have the scar tissue that can cause bowel obstructions and other problems. But since you are having an increase in pain I'm sure they would want to know. I would also check your temperature ( and blood pressure and pulse of possible) before calling.

    What to bring to hospital?

And honestly you could get by bringing nothing. But I am a quirky, particular person, and I am not comfortable when my skin is touching my own skin( like a shirt with no shelf bra, or a skirt instead of pants, so I wanted to get out of the hospital gown asap!

    What to bring to hospital?

One "outfit" of comfy clothes(yoga pants, tank with built in bra and t shirt for me), flip flop or slip in shoes, hair tie, underwear. I wouldn't mess with a bra, makeup, or a lot of hair stuff other than a brush. Most hospitals will have toothbrush/toothpaste but as I have worked in hospitals I can tell you they are crappy and you may want to bring your own. When I had my surgery I was released the next afternoon, so I decided to just wait to shower at home.

    Spouses... jealousy

Before surgery my husband expressed concerns about me "getting hott, and finding someone else" Quite frankly, I am a rather blunt person, and I simply informed him a few times that if I planned on leaving him, being fat wouldn't stop me and I would have done it by now. He eventually stopped thinking that. But we have made other decisions in our lives that has helped our marriage. I suppose I should make note that our gender roles are completely switched and he is the more sensitive and I am likely the worst person to get relationship advice from, as I tend to be a little no nonsense. Just sharing our experience.
  22. Thank you all! It definitely is a very sad ordeal, but I am glad all of us on this forum have decided to take steps to prevent us from a fatal heart attack

    Post Op Gassiness?

I am 6 weeks post RNY, I fart like a trucker, but that is only if I veer off course from my low carb diet and eat something with sugar. If I stick with the diet it is not an issue at all.
  25. I had RNY on 4/4/16, my hunger and obsession with food has decreased significantly
