I was banded on 2/18/08 and had my 3rd fill last week. It was too much. I couldn't even get liquids down and I had to go back in and get 1/2 cc taken out. Any one else have that?

    Pain on port side

I'm 3 1/2 months out and still get that pain every now & then. I was told that every time you move in a new way the port will pull on your muscle and new scar tissue has to form. I would still call your doc & let him know what's going on so they can chart it.

How many pokes with a fill?

You won't even feel the needle for the fill. You will feel the needle with the lidacain that numbs you, but it's quick and feels like a pinch.
  5. I have been having a lot more trouble with cramps than before my surgery. Anyone else have this problem?
  6. I found that sleeping in a recliner the first few nights really helped. You won't get the sleep you're used to, but it's better than none. If you're pain pills aren't helping, call your doctor. I only took tylenol the first week because the codiene they gave me made me sick...so they gave me some darvacet and that REALLY helped.
  7. Call your doctor. It is normal to have severe pain in the port area, but you should be able to breath ok.

    Slimming

I was also banded on 2/18 and had my second fill 3 weeks ago. I do feel a lot more restriction this time and have to be careful or things do get stuck, but I've also hit a plateau and I know I have to step it up a little..exercise more & stick to the diet rules. I've only lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Kind of a let down after the first 6 weeks and losing 25 lbs.

3rd week post op diet and feeling weak

I felt very weak until I could start eating solid foods again. But you do lose weight the fastest in that first 4-6 weeks, so even tho your feeling weak, just remember that you are losing and when you do start eating solids, they will taste Soooo good!

    why are people such HATERS!!!!???

You need to do what is right for you. Remember that nurses are people too, and there are knowledgable ones and and ones that think they are. My advice would be to talk to a nurse in a bariatric doctors office. They would be the ones who could really answer your questions, but in the end the only person who's opinion counts is you.

    weight loss

I lost 26 lbs the first month. After that, the weight loss slows quite a bit and you have to work harder at it.
  12. I also had a lot of unexpected pain. My doctor told me that it was probably nerve damage. It does go away. I think my severe pain went away about 3 weeks out, but I was still "sore" for another month. I'm 3 months out now and I still get some soreness every now and then, but it's not severe, kind of like how you fill after doing a lot of sit-ups.
  13. Awesome progress to be down 40 pounds in 3 months. THanks for posting pics, they are a great encouragement to those of us who are newly banded.
