Ready 4slim reacted to ChunkCat in Post SADI help <3 Save me from the farts
The gas is probably from the carbs. Especially simple carbs, though complex carbs can cause it too. DS/SADI patients have altered small intestines and those shorter lengths digest carbs differently than the full length did pre-op. Things with sugars in them, like carbs, can cause gas to build up as part of the digestion process.
In addition to this, some people are sensitive to FODMAPS. That can happen with or without surgery. Onions are a huge FODMAP trigger food! Your gut may be reacting to these foods. You can try an elimination diet to see if it helps.
But really, cut the carbs if you want peace. DS/SADI patients need about 90-120 grams of Protein (120 grams is ideal, or whatever it takes to keep your protein levels at 7 or above) about 100-150 grams of fat depending on the surgery, and ideally we keep carbs below 50 grams during active weight loss, some go below 30 grams. But even in maintenance, we need to watch the carbs if we want to avoid gas and other digestive issues.

Ready 4slim reacted to Real Kombo in 2.5 Years Post OP - Before and After
I almost never post here because I hate the format on this website and prefer fb but wanted to try to inspire more people.
The first photo is how big I was the night before the surgery. The other 3 were taken within the last week.
I had the duodenal switch December 30, 2021 at the age of 24. My weight immediately going into the procedure was about 301. (My highest weight of all time, I believe was 320) I now hover between 157-160 and basically eat whatever I want. I'm fairly active and also malabsorb a ton (common channel length is 85 cm) Depending on the day, I eat somewhere between 3500-4000 calories a day. My weight doesn't budge.
Still, life sucks in other ways. I struggle with serious depression that has crippled me. Mental health is always a work in progress.
Any questions feel free to ask.

This is a total show off/humble brag/flaunting it post, disclaimer delivered!
So had wedding that I was looking forward to (was a total wedding hater before…for the reasons most of us are familiar with) and I had ordered this super tight dress size XS (UK size 0) and was nervous it won’t fit. Well it fit like a glove (did struggle to zip in my boobs since they’re the only part that aren’t a size 0 thank goodness).

It’s so weird how much I enjoyed this wedding and danced till I couldn’t feel my feet whereas I would sit on my bum and feel miserable before (past 5 years only).
    Some visual proof:

I was going through my album, and while trying to lose weight I had favourited a few of my pictures for inspiration to get back to what I was. I was in the best shape after having my first child, see below photos from (2016/2017).

My highest weight at 90 kgs/198 lbs (a few days before my VSG in December 2023)

My post-op journey has all been about restriction and not being able to eat enough. It took me time to slowly build my stamina and muscle tone back. I have definition in my abs and my legs and arms are toned. I am 13 kilos/29 lbs lighter than my “before” fit (but it doesn't much show because muscles ha!), I am at an all time low in terms of weight but I feel absolutely fantastic. Hopefully can build kore muscle once I stabilize.
    My “fit” after:

Tomorrow I Celebrate 1yr post op but today I celebrate my birthday! These pictures are exactly a year apart. The girl on the left was tired, not taking care of herself, moody, unhealthy, and today I celebrate being healthy, happy, health and fitness! What a crazy ride it has been but its been the best ride. I look forward to my future and how that looks for my family and I. There has been ups and downs but so worth it! If you get discouraged, don't because I promise it the end you will be so glad you did not give up.

I don't post too much on here anymore because I'm 2 years and 3 months post of from bypass. Life has pretty much normalized and I've reached my goal weight. I would like to get down to maybe 195 lbs but I'm not sweating it too much because I feel the best I've ever been since starting this whole process. I am six feet tall and sit around 198/199 at the moment. I started this journey at around 340 lbs. I lost 30 lbs before my surgery. I have lots of loose skin on my belly, my thighs, and my arms. Unfortunately, I can't afford skin removal but I'm saving to do my arms next summer.
After a while, sometimes you have days where you no longer connect to your old obese self. I have days where I feel huge and ugly still. It's easy to forget where you came from or how far you've come. What helps me is now and then I check my old photos and make comparisons so I can see my progress. The body dysmorphia is so real and something I know most of you if not all can and will relate to.
Losing the weight did not fix my body image but it's different for everyone. Some things IT DID improve however:
-Improve my joint health (daily knee pain gone).
-Took up running. Avid runner now. Have done races and run regularly outside.
    -Lowered my blood pressure.
    -Lowered my heart rate.
-No longer profusely sweat or turn red from basic activities.
-No longer use alcohol and food to cope with anxiety.
-So much energy to move and do chores/tasks.
    -Healed my obsession with food.

I love seeing everyone's progress and reading your stories. Getting the surgery is not a fix-all. We have to do the work to eat the right foods in the right portions and get exercise regularly. It's easier the first year but I can tell you it gets harder and harder. Every day is a battle when you're trying to escape obesity. That's not a bad thing. It's rewarding and you learn so much and become a more resilient and deep person. So keep remembering why you did this, where you came from, and how much better life is getting for you!

I was very reluctant to post my before and after. I just don’t feel like I’m done yet? I’m 4.5 months post op and reached my initial goal at 3.5 months post op and went down further more so set myself a new goal weight, which I’m very close to, but thought hey, why not Celebrate it anyway? I look good, I feel good and I should get to celebrate that. Every single one of you looks absolutely fantastic, way to go lot ♥️

Facebook memories showed me this Christmas picture from five years ago. While not my highest weight, there's definitely a difference to be seen. So here's the five years ago pic, one from April of this year (5 months PRE OP), and one from today (3 months POST OP). I don't smile with teeth often, so hopefully that awkwardness doesn't show lol.

Ok, so here is a different kind of Before and After.
Been having Body Fat Percentage on the brain after a short discussion of it on the food B&A thread.
I’m 5’2”, 118.8 lbs this morning, down from 235 lbs 4 years ago.
Picture on the left is me 2 years ago (Summer, 2020), when i was working out regularly and eating pretty low-carb. I was probably 115 (or less) at the time, body fat percentage 13-18%.
Picture in the right is me today (118.8 lbs), wearing the same shirt and bra, but not the weight belt that i was wearing in the 2020 pic (which is why my waist looks tiny in that pic). Body fat estimated at 29%.
I def do like better how my bod looked a couple years ago, but not soooo much that im willing to put in the effort to get back there, ha!
So lesson(s) for the day are:
    1. number on the scale is NOT the only factor that determines “health” or fitness level.
    2. Sometimes u need to weigh a particular goal with the effort required to achieve/maintain it and decide if its for you.
    3. Getting to and staying at a particular fitness level takes effort. Regular, and consistent, effort. I am in awe and admiration of those who can get and STAY fit. It’s hard, man!

Tomorrow is my 3 month surgery anniversary. I've lost over 70 lbs on this journey through the pre and post op phases. The before pic is not even from my highest weight, that was about mid 2020 but I got up to the 340s at one point.

Today I'm proud to say I fit back into a non plus size XL. From an XXXXL/22 to XL! I'm so happy to see the results beyond the scale.

I tried on two new shirts today to check my progress and was shocked to see them fitting.
