Where are you located and who was your ps, they did an awesome job!!!! You look amazing. I am your body shape now, having my sleeve in a few weeks, and will definitely need tt once im done.

I'm in St. Louis, MO and my surgeon is Dr. Herluf Lund he works out of St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery in Chesterfield, MO. I'm not sure about the rules on posting links but if you Google 'Dr Lund St. Louis' he'll come right up. He is absolutely wonderful, bedside manner so amazing and very very funny just when you need him to be!

  2. I was VERY thankful for my walker. I ordered mine from Amazon but you may check your local Council on Aging and they might rent or allow you to borrow one. Landyards!!! I linked 2 together just for showers and another for my "daywear" (fancy I know). MY personal #1 used weird thing was I tied a long thick ribbon to the footboard of my bed then used a safety pin to pin it to my shirt when I went to bed so when I had to get up I could wrap the ribbon around my wrist a couple times and pull myself upright without any pain. A bar of antibacterial soap just to hand wash my incisions and naval in the shower also gave me piece of mind.

I wish I had ordered a second abdominal binder (found a healthcom 3 in 1 postpartum recovery girdle belt on Amazon $20.58). I tried wearing Spanx while washing/drying my original binder and I was very uncomfortable.

You'll be so very happy afterwards Jen - if you think up any questions please feel free to ask away!!! I'm only short of 3 weeks out of surgery.

  3. Hiya folks. Wanted to post a couple quick pictures just to update. I'm still really tired & my lower back hurts some but I have no pain from my incisions. I have a follow up appointment today with my surgeon Dr Lund.

Sorry everything is from the front but I'm solo for a few days while my wife is out of town on Business and my 5 yr old takes terrible pictures [emoji13]

I love the ribbon with a handle idea! And that kids chair… very clever! Glad to hear that you're already able to get out of bed without pain. I live alone, but I'll be staying with my parents immediately after surgery. I'm curious if you feel like you could be on your own at this point. Just trying to get an idea of how long it'll be before I can get back home.

Funny you would ask today is my first day alone and so far I'm doing okay. I also work from home so I'm working today and haven't ran into any terrible problems other than I'm pretty tired.

I did get a walker from Amazon that I'm using to get around just because I get tired at a moments notice so its perfect to lean on & we have a rambunctious pit bull puppy that I really don't want to jump on me. She usually doesn't but I'm glad for the extra bit of protection since she's a bull in a china shop most days.

I'm still on some of my pain meds. First let me say keeping a running "Meds Schedule" has really helped me stay on track because I know what I took and when... My pain pump (numbed the muscle work) was pulled out Sunday and I haven't really missed it; just excited the extra tubes are gone. I was on 2 Nucynta 50mg every 4 hours and I'm sure having someone keep me on that schedule day 1-2 was why I don't remember a lot of pain. I'm on extra strength Tylenol throughout the day but I do take a Nucynta before bed.

I definitively have pillows everywhere! My latest obsession is my belly button - it looks so weird to me.

  5. I found a memory foam kids chair at Wal-mart that both makes my recliner more comfy (it was too soft and I get stuck!) then I use it in bed as my pillow (my head fits in the "seat"!). I sleep in bed now & getting out sucked but I tied a long thick ribbon to the footboard and a handle to the other end. It's been a miracle ribbon since I can pull myself up without any pain or assistance .

  6. I'm pretty much freaking out today but trying to keep my focus on work to get through it... needed a break so here I am.

I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and paid my fees in advance. I learned how my pain pump will work and how to remove it myself on Sunday (ewwww) and then I can take a shower!! I also found out I'll have at least 2 but up to 6 JP drains when I wake up and how to drain, track the drainage and take care of them (do your bulbs hang low, can you swing 'em too and fro?).

I ordered a Faja compression garment and it got here today, All my Rx are filled and I start my antibiotics tonight. The fridge is full of high Protein triple zero yogurt, Fairlife high Protein milk and I have several flavors of Inspire protein powders all within reach of my Nutri-bullet so I can really dig in and up the protein to help my body heal its self as much as possible.

I'm going to have my wife take some dreaded before pictures of me tonight as well as take some measurements so I have something to look at to make me feel better when I'm in pain over the next few weeks...

I have some comfy pink button down PJs and bunny slippers all ready for my trip to the hospital in the morning (I use humor to deal with anxiety can ya tell?), I'm very lucky to also have a friend that is an ICU nurse and she is going to stay at the hospital with me tomorrow night since my wife will need to be home with our 5 year old.

    So I think I'm ready.

    Bring on the list:

    • Lower Transverse Body Lift
    • Full Extensive Abdominoplasty
    • Standard Scar Revision (my gastric was in 2002 OPEN RNY so my scar is pretty ugly)
    • liposuction (if needed)

  7. Meant to post this here - doh!!

I just found out from chat with my UHC rep, " Mac B.: As per your plan the in network benefits for panniculectomy are covered at 90% of eligible expenses after satisfying $250 deductible." but my PS doesn't file any kind of insurance so as soon as I can form complete sentences after I'm home I'll be requesting OR notes and detailed billing including ICD 10 codes so I can try to recoup some of the $18,387 this is costing... I'll take whatever I can get!!!!!

I cant remember the make but will ask hubby tomorrow and let you know. We bought it second hand and were so lucky as it was only 10 months old, cost £1,600 new and I got it for £150. It's a dual motor and so comfy to sleep in too. Once I have had my thigh lift I will sell it and probably get my money back.

Ahh ok I have a recliner... well my wife does but I believe I'll be claiming it for a couple months :D

I have found having a riser/recliner and commode invaluable. I am still sleeping on it now (the riser/recliner not the commode lol) and I am 4 weeks out.

Make sure you have support at home for as long as you can or need. More than anything, keep up with Protein and fluids. Rest as much as you can. Take stool softeners and something for Constipation before you have the surgery.

Best of luck with the surgery and please come back and let us know how you got on :)

    Kate

What kind of riser did you get?

    Thanks so much!!
