    Going back to work

I start back Monday 2/22 after 3 weeks off. I will still be on pureed foods. Sunday I plan on making anti-pasta lasagna, black bean & turkey chili, salmon and some sort of veggie, protein drinks, and of course water. I work as an NP and see patients back to back for 9 hrs with rarely any breaks. So I am nervous about getting all needed food protein and water in. Any suggestions?

    Chest pain post vsg

Chest pain is nothing to take lightly. Yes you have had the vsg, yes it may be just GERD (acid reflux) but NEVER take it lightly. See your PCP or go to the ER to get checked out. Best case scenario, its GERD but worst case is it's your heart or a blood clot to your lungs called a PE (Pulmonary Embolus). How are you now?
  3. Hey guys! I am also a sleever from 2/1. So 2 1/2 week out. My HW 260, SW 251, GW an ambitious 130! I was loosing 1 lb a day but for the last 5-6 days I have lost 0 lbs! Frustrating for sure. I just started the puree portion of the diet this week. Made a turkey and black bean chili and am only able to eat 2-3 oz before I am full. I know I am not taking in enough water or protein. Seems as if teh higher the protein I take in the fuller I feel and less food I can eat. I suppose that's the point but hard to eat the amt of protein if i am full. Its crazy tho because I love water but sipping is the hard part. Gonna start exercising and drinking more water in hopes this will help.
  4. Mine was $17500 in Nashville which included the surgeon, anesthesia, and hospital fees, as well as pre op labs, and a few post op visits.
  5. I had my Sleeve surgery Mon Feb 1st. I love water! During week 1 I am supposed to drink 64 oz of liquids which include 2 protein shakes a day and a full liquid meal. Problem is I can't even get down 1 protein drink a day, 4 oz of soup, and the rest sips of water. Any suggestions on getting the proper intake?
  6. A D-diemer is an easy screening test for a Pulmonary Embolism (PE). If it is normal it is 100% accurate you do not have a PE and no further testing is necessary. If the D-diemer is high it means you could have a PE. Its specificity is low meaning if high it still doesn't mean you have a PE just that you may have one. The only way to know is a CT scan with contrast or a VQ scan.
  7. Yes if you are not taking in enough liquids you should be on IVF! Tell the dr that!
  8. Yes when the nurses stripped my drain I got SEVERE cramps that led to pain the rest of the day and night! I took Dilaudid 0.2 mg hourly the first night (my surgeon doesn't like PCA pumps), the next day they added Lortab elixer which helped a LOT! I was discharged Weds and have taken pain meds 3 times Weds, twice Thurs, once Fri and none today! So hang in there!!

    Blood Pressure

I had my surgery Feb 1st as well. In the hospital my BP got as high as 214/110! They consulted a Hospitalist who said my pain was not well controlled so she added a pill form and another BP pill. It worked and I was able to go home the next day. At home tho I am running higher than usual 150/90's - 160/100. Still taking both BP pills. I have not needed pain meds since yesterday. Will just keep checking and if it doesn't go down to normal by next week will see my PCP.
  10. I just has my surgery Monday Feb1st. I weighed in at 260 the week before and today 6 days after the surgery I am down to 247. I do find it hard to get the 2 protein shakes a day plus a full liquid meal and the 64 oz of water with my new much smaller tummy! So this will be challenging!
