  1. I knew people who had the Roux en-Y procedure but did not realize it would be so prevalent with the sleeve! Every time 8 brush my hair it is full of hair loss! Anyone experience this? Does it grow back? If so when? I had my surgery Feb 1st so I am just over 4 months out but started losing my hair at 3 months and getting worse! Any tips other than vitamins?
  2. Can anyone recommend a olastic surgeon in Nashville? I will need the works! Abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, breast lift/augmentation and legs!!

Thanks for your support Daisee68. I met with two surgeons here in Dallas, but I am going to Nashville, TN to have the surgeries, I think. I met with several surgeons in Nashville and it's going to be easier for me to have the surgery there and stay with family for the recovery. Also, the quotes from the Nashville surgeons were much less... almost on par with a quote I got Dr in Mexico (but without the aftercare)... I just worry about going to Mexico and the surgeon I spoke with back-pedalled on things he said previously when I asked extra questions. He also wasn't too confident about how many surgeries would be needed nor some special work I need done that others were confident about fixing. (And he is one that is well regarded on this board. ) I never heard back from my inquery into the BariatricPal associated surgeon's group after an initial 'We got your email' message. In Dallas, I met with Dr Ben Tittle and Dr Jeffrey Kenkel. They both seemed like very good doctors and we're referred by my sleeve surgeon, but Dr Tittle seemed in a hurry and I wanted someone to explain things to me better. Dr Tittle also wanted things broken into 3 surgeries - I think I prefer only going through two. I really liked Dr Jeffrey Kenkel a lot. However, he was very expensive - like 15k-20k more expensive for everything than the two I am considering in Nashville - although he did include 2 nights of aftercare. I'm not pinching pennies at the sake of my health, but that's quite a bit when the Nashville surgeons have bariatric experience and were referred by a bariatric group there. I did look at Dr Fisher's website and considered talking to him, but thought I'd go locally (where family could stay with me) or Nashville (where I could stay with family). I don't know about traveling to San Antonio...how long before you would want to be in a car long enough to drive (or fly) back to Dallas? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App I see you are having surgery today here in Nashville. Here's praying for your speedy recovery! When you do recover can you elaborate on which surgeons you met with and which one you chose? Costs? Recovery time? And all else that would help! Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the valuable info! Will check out the website! Thanks!
  5. Hey guys! Are there any folks out there who have had plastic surgery to remove excess skin post LGS yet? I have been watching TV shows "Atlanta Plastic," " My 600lb Life" etc. I know I will need the works! Lol I am 51. Once I hit goal will need abdominoplasty, breast lift/augmentation and skin removed from arms and legs. Would like to do abdomen, breasts and arms all at once but I am not sure if surgeons will do these all at once or not. Greatly concerned about time needed to be off work. Anyone have any experience with these surgeries? If so can you tell me how much they cost and how long you were off work afterwards?
  6. Oh my... Is it getting hot in here or is it just @@KSTUZ?! Sent from my phone, please forgive brevity and misspelling Wow! You look AMAZING!! Have you had to have any plastic surgery? I am 51 and know I will need abdominoplasty, breast lift, arms and legs done by the end of this journey! ????
  7. You look great! How are you losing so fast? I have trouble getting all the Protein in. How much protein do you take in a day?
  8. How are y'all losing all this weight? Awesome! Had the sleeve Feb 1st. Started at 260 now down to 217. A good 80# to go but will def take a while! But you look FANTASTIC!
  9. Question for sleevers who are about 6 months out. How much wt have you lost? I know everyone is different and has different body types etc. I would lose quite a bit in the first 3 months and then it will decrease. I am 3 weeks out and am down 24 lbs! But how much should I expect to lose from this point forward? Trying to plan for new clothes and the like! Lol

I was told to make sure I got 60 grams of protein up until now which has been the first 6 weeks. Now she says to increase it to 80 grams. Having a difficult time getting it all in though but pushing forward to get it done!

    Expected Weight Loss

I just had my 6 wk visit with the dr and nutritionist yesterday. I discovered I haven't been eating enough protein! The nut could not emphasize enough that protein will cause the weight to come off much more easily. I was not getting in the 60 grams needed but I have lost 27# so far. Now she wants me to take in 80 grams of protein! I have found a great protein powder called Nectar! The others seemed extremely heavy on my stomach and felt thick going down. Nectar feels light like water. I find I can finish it unlike the others.
  13. Yes heart burn and acid reflux are normal after the gastric sleeve. Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are often prescribed. Pepcid is not a PPI but does work on reducing the acid. Over the counter PPIs are Nexium and Prilosec. I suggest switching to one of those if Pepcid isn't cutting it.
  14. I've been eating cottage cheese, salmon, chicken, and pastaless lasagne with turkey meat. Tolerating all that well. Tried sauteed mushrooms last night and got bad gas! Brocholi hasn't sat well with me either! Too bloating! Protein drink every other day probably...may need to step that up though. ????
  15. I am on my period too. Started Mon but its Fri now! And yes I worry that I will not lose anymore wt too! I am 51 and going through the change as well. So emotions suck! Lol! Constipation has been an issue. As far as food I have been eating soft to regular food but chewing chewing chewing! Just had a salad for first time! I get all my protein but hard to get all the water in. I used to deink TONS of water but guzzled! Sipping hard to adjust to.
  16. Has anyone had any stalls last week and this week? I have been fluctuating between 236-234! Start wt was 260.
  17. I am 3 weeks out from the sleeve. I am eating soft foods and have no problem keeping anything down. However, I am now beginning to feel sharp pain (not unbearable) along my lower ribs on my right side. It occasionally radiates to my right shoulder. Classic symptoms of gallbladder irritation I think. I know this can be an issue post op but this soon? Anyone had issues with gallbladder post sleeve?

Thanks! I start exercising with a trainer next week! Have never been very driven when it comes to exercise so looking forward to working with a trainer! Work schedule is crazy tho! Work anywhere from 50-75 hrs a week nights and days so that will be my biggest challenge is time!

So true! Watch the show Skin Tight! Gives a realistic view of people after weight loss. But most are 300-500 lbs and have a lot of excess skin. I am 50 and fully expect to have skin removed and a bust augmentation sometime next yr!

SShawk: My BMI was 44-46 prior to surgery! So in 6 mos you've lost 80#! Thats fantastic! Exactly what I hope to lose in 6 mos! My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary in July in FL so want to be in better shape to go parasailing, ride roller coasters, jet ski, all the things I have wanted to do but was too large for us to do together! Thanks!

  22. Hey guys use a pillow to hold over your abdomen when you cough. It is crucial that you do cough turn and deep breathe to prevent pmeumonia! It gets better I promise! Walking as much as you can will relieve the gas pains too! Good luck guys! I'm three weeks out and 2nd day back at work. Extremely tired!
  23. My sleeve was done 2/1 at St. Thomas Midtown (Baptist) by Dr. Morton. The psych dr said in all his yrs of practice Dr. Morton has had zero leaks! I also called the nurses on the floor to see what they had to say and they all said Morton! When are you planning on diving in?
  24. I'm in Nashville too! What hospital/surgeon did you go through? I'm just starting my journey, and don't know anyone who has done the sleeve. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
