martytx07 got a reaction from Amelie2016 in Calling all February 1st Sleevers!
I'm back to work now. I took 8 days off. I told everyone at work why I was taking time off. They were all supportive. A group of coworkers were even gonna do the pre-op diet with me. 4 of the girls I worked with said they would do it with me but in the end, only 1 stuck it out with me lol. But yes I am back to work and for the most part feel fine. Every now and then I feel a slight little pain but really isn't that bad. I sit down for like 70% of my day here at work though so that makes it easier of course.

From what my doctor has told me, it's not a good idea to get a drink a Protein Shake with more than 30g of protein because our bodies can only absorb about 20-30g of protein at a time. During my pre-op diet I had found these Protein Drinks that had 42g of protein. They told me to go ahead and drink them during the pre-op but told me after surgery, only 30g shakes.< /p>

I'm on day 11 today and even now I'm not sure if I've actually felt hungry hungry. For me, I think it's more cravings that I yearn for. I miss the texture of food. I can't wait to be able to actually bite into something again. I was excited when I got the ok to have thick Protein Shakes again and got the ok to have creamy Soup. Its so much better than just broth! If I may ask, how did you do on the pre-op diet? Was it a big struggle to make and were you always hungry then too? I really found that drinking those Protein shakes, Water, and my one can of soup actually made it bearable. In all honesty, it made me question the need for surgery since it was sort of simple for me to do. In those two weeks alone, I lost like 16lbs. I think this was the first time I had dieted with protein shakes with such high protein (Premier 30g protein). I decided to get the surgery since I had already put all this time and effort and figured it would make the weight loss more long term than doing without the surgery. So now that I have the surgery, it seems like they ask me to consume too much. I'm supposed to be at 60g of protein again but I just find it sort of hard to do all that. They want me to have two shakes and then one soup a day which is what I had prior to surgery. To me, it seems like a lot because even before surgery, that was enough. So now I find myself drinking one shake a day and on soup a day. I just add Protein Powder to my soup so I don't have to drink another shake later. Right now, I'm sort of curious to what it's gonna feel like when I start feeling really hungry again.

Hello group! Well I just had the surgery performed on 1/28/16 and figured I was close enough to the 1st. My stats are male, 5'10 and my starting weight when starting the pre op diet was 306. On the day of surgery I weighed 288. It has now been over a week since surgery (day 11 today) and I now weigh 280. I was hoping to have lost more during this first week but I know I need to be patient. 8lbs is good I know but still lol. Ok, so about my experience so far. It's actually been a lot easier than I expected. I expected the pain to be horrible but it really wasn't that bad. Only one of the incisions ever really hurt and that was the one on my right abdomen. Of course, I figured it was because that's where they pulled the remainder of the stomach out. The max I would say my pain has been throughout this entire thing would be like a 4-5 and that was immediately coming out of surgery. After that, it was pretty easy sailing. I haven't had any issues keeping anything down. I know when I drink fluids to slow down if I feel like it isn't going down as smoothly as possible. Sometimes I can feel like it's going slowly when it gets to my chest area and then it goes down but this feeling lasts for literally 3 seconds at the most. I have gone to the gym once since coming out of surgery and that was like day 4. Figured I could use the extra walking since I was sort of scared of getting blood clots and walking around the house back and forth seemed odd lol. I walked for 45 minutes on the treadmill so not too shabby. So anyways, I went back to work yesterday. Pretty stationary type job with not that much walking. At this point my pain is probably at a 0. Well last night I'm watching TV while on the couch and I start laughing, which makes me start coughing and then my freaking incinsion (right abdomen of course) begins to hurt again. It seriously went from a 0 to the past 4 days or so, back to like a 3-4 when moving certain ways, getting out of bed, etc. I thought I was home free in the pain department when it came to the incisions but a stupid loud laugh/cough ruined it lol. I feel like I'm back to like day 2 or 3 following surgery. Once I felt the pain I was like what the heck. Then I got up and I knew that the pain was back. It's weird. So now I'm like dreading to sit out of bed, get up from the couch, etc because of it again. Oh well, I know the pain will pass soon enough and I wouldn't say it's strong enough to take the pain pills because it petty much goes away once I'm in a comfortable position. Idk, has anyone else had this issue where the pain just came back out of no where? Aside from that everything is going good. Wish everyone on here the best of luck
