  1. Duh...if I would've looked @ your about me section I would've known your date is 10/9. Lol

  2. Yup, pretty crazy! The anticipation is killing me so it will be better to get it over with. :) When is your big day again? What kind of pre-op diet are you doing?

  3. Did I tell you my surgery date got moved to 9/29? Now I'm not an October bandster. :( That's ok tho...I'm so ready to get surgery over. I only have one more wk. until I start pre-op diet. Yikes!

  4. Apparently I need to check my pg. Lol...forgot I was experimenting with the colors. Wow, those are bright! When you're about ready to fall asleep at work just look at my pg. Need to chg. that immediately. Anyway, I am finding myself extremely anxious. Only about a week left of eating whatever. Yikes! I'm sure I've managed to pack on some pounds. My consult with Paula is the 16th. I was looking over the handout and it looks like you can have coffee after day 2 so you should ok. ;) What time is your pre-op?

    Anyone getting banded in September?

Elaine, I see you've lost 13lbs already on your pre-op diet. Woo-hoo! I bet the first few days were the worst. I have one more week until I start mine. Ugh...

    Finally--- CIGNA PAYS OUT!!!

Congrats! I also have Cigna and decided not to even bother with them after my experience in March. Grrr...:cool2: Anyway, decided to just pay for it myself. Crappy insurance! Good for you for triumphing through it all.
  7. Boomski~ I am right there with you. I need to decide VERY soon. The other day I was leaning more toward the Realize and today I'm thinking Lap Band because that is the majority of what my Dr. places. Figure he has more experience with it. The Realize site is cool but I wouldn't base my decision on it as there are other websites out there. If I'm not mistaken I believe Lap Band also has started one. Good luck with your decision!
  8. Wow, I don't know if I can keep up with you ladies on a daily basis. Denver~Thx for the PM. Best of luck on your WL journey! Brandy~I hope everything is ok. Since I am not yet banded, I do not have any advice. Sending my best though. Hugs! Green~ Dr.K does place the Realize for add't chg., like Denver stated. I know he prefers the Allegren but was wondering if any of his pts. had the Realize band. Thx for your response! :woot: Mini~My parents have been retired fo 11 yrs. now and still living in the RV full-time. They spend winters in AZ and summers up north, usually MT and OR. I say, go for it! Munchkin~I too, have plantar fascitis. I have not had the 'work-up' you have had but the only thing that helped me was a pair of Danskos. I know, not the most stylish but worth a try. When I wear flip-flops in the summer I tend to get flair-ups so a good pair of ugly shoes may help.
  9. Reading the posts, it looks like a lot of you are frustrated with the Realize band? Correct? I am having surgery in a few wks. and am trying to decide which band to have placed. Do any of you who have the Realize wish you would've gotten the Lap band? Thx!
  10. Have any of you had Dr. K place the realize band? Thanks!
  11. I will be banded shortly after you (9/29) and am in the same boat. Only I have had surgery and kind of know what to expect. I had a really bad experience with my first surgery which is causing major anxietey. However, my second surgery was a cake walk. I'm not worried about pain just nervous about anesthesia. That's the worst part for me. :frown: I too, am trying to decide on which band. Right now I'm leaning more towards the realize band. How about you? I am stuggling also with thought of not being able to eat the same afterwards. I think we have to remember though that we will be able to eat almost anything with time. Just smaller portions of course.

Dr.Kirshenbaum (I am self-pay). My DH is a travel nurse so we took assignment here so I can have surgery. We are living in Westminster. We will only be here until the end of Oct. unless we can extend the contract. We also love it here! Where did you move from?
  13. My first Dr. said 18 months to allow enough time for weight loss. However, my Dr. who is doing my surgery on the 29th (yay!!) said he doesn't have a preference and he usually leaves it up to the patient. The reason I am having a lap band placed is so I can hopefully get pregnant. So, my thinking is to lose as much weight possible before we start trying to conceive. That way, I will have a much healthier pregnancy and be a lot more comfortable.

    Consult 8/25, CO support?

My pre-op is also the 25th @ 9a.m. My surgery is scheduled for 10a.m. I am excited but probably more nervous at this point. How about you? All Dr.K told me was no carbs one week prior to surgery. Is that what they told you? When do you plan on starting? Natalie said Paula will call when my surgery date gets closer. I'm so happy I've found someone else going through a similar journey at the same time. P.S. How did you like Dr.K???
  21. Hi Cassie! Looks like you are manuevering around the site pretty well. I accepted your friend request so hopefully you got it since I have no clue as to what I'm doing on here. lol... Reminds me of when I first opened a myspace account. :crying: When I first found this site and started reading I was having a lot of doubts about surgery. I have since decided to experience my own journey b/c everyones body/experiences are vastly different. So...now I am at least not driving myself insane but am still very nervous and think about surgery every day. I'm hoping this is normal. :boink: I'm so glad you started this thread!:thumbup::biggrin::tt1:
  22. Hi Stacey! I used to live in North Pole and I too, have fibromyalgia. I do not have any suggestions for Medicare but do know any insurance company is a huge pain to deal with. I was supposed to have the surgery back in March after getting everything lined up. At the very last minute I was getting ready for my EKG and the Doctors office called down to day surgery to say that there had been a mistake and I could not have surgery unless I paid out of pocket. Grrr....:tt1: I was not very happy, if you can imagine. (I was on my husbands insurance and so the hospital [his employer] decided only employees were covered and not spouses) So here I find myself 5 months later and we are having to pay out of pocket. The good news is, this time around it has been uneventful and less stressfull. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 1. After all of this, I am excited and nervous. Would you go to Anchorage for surgery? PM me if I can help answer any questions or if you just want to chat. Best of Luck!
