    Trouble with laying down

From one RDH to another: I wish I knew what this was. It is by far my biggest complaint to being banded. I was banded on the 29th so just a few days before you. I still can't seem to get comfortable but sitting up does help. I don't really feel sick but like the band is being pushed into my chest/throat. At night it is always worse. I did call my Dr. he removed some Fluid from the band which didn't really help. Waited a week and called him again. He didn't really say much and doesn't seem to be that concerned. Frustrating!! I wish I could help but thought it might 'ease' your mind to know I too experience this.:tt2:
  2. Thank you for that bit of info. I crushed a Zantac and have been feeling better. Even tho they taste icky crushed I'm going to start taking one everyday and hopefully this will alleviate this pain I'm feeling. Thx again!

    So Tired

You are not alone. I am 11 days post-op and I am also very tired. I think its important to remember that everyone heals at a different rate. I get frustrated because I feel like I should be doing so much better. I wonder when I will feel normal again? I think when we are able to get more protein in our diets we will notice a difference. I guess we just have to be patient.:tt2:

    Hiccups !!!

Hi! I do not have any suggestions. However, I was banded on 9.29 and I think the same thing is happening to me.
  5. I will be thinking of you today. Good luck!

    Hugs...:grouphug:

  6. So...what did the doc have to say???

  7. Only 2 more days! Are you excited, nervous, scared or anxious? You will do just fine!

    Best of luck!!!

    Still in Pain

I too, was banded on 9/29 and still uncomfortable. :tt2: I'm having more pain in my chest than anywhere else. I even had to call the Dr. today. I took my pain meds until they were gone. Now I've just been alternating tylenol and motrin. I feel like I should be doing so much better by now but everyone is different. I'm getting frustrated as well but all we can do is take it one day at a time.:smile:
  9. I didn't think there was supposed to be fluid in my band either. I think Dr.K was surprised as well. I'm not sure what happened...:tt2:
  10. Hi Everyone! Sorry I have not posted in a while. I have not been feeling well since being banded. I did well the first couple of days but am finding myself in a lot of pain. I have a lot of pressure on my sternum pushing up into my chest so I called the office on Friday. Natalie thought it would be a good idea for Dr. K to look at me. Dr. K said the only thing he could think of is possible fluid in the band. He accessed my port and removed 1.2 cc's from the band. He thought this would give me some relief but no luck. :tongue2: Last night the pain even got worse and I can't seem to get comfortable in any position. Is this normal? Does anyone have any advice? Tomorrow will be a week post-op and I feel like I should be doing a lot better. Thanks!
  11. We have so many different conversations going on all over the place. LOL! He thought it would give me relief by removing some fluid. Idk...Natalie said its normal to have that feeling.

  12. Hi everyone! Thanks for your posts! I did call the Dr. and he wanted to see me. I went into his office this a.m. and he removed 1.2cc's from the band. I got a little bit of relief and can at least take a deep breath now. I still feel something in my chest but sounds like this is normal. :w00t: Now my port site is very sore from the Dr. having to access it for a slight unfill. Geesh...good luck to everyone else!
  13. I just emailed you about the my Dr. visit this a.m. Now my port site is sore. Evidently from him having to access it. Grr...I was doing well. Where is your port located? Have you lost any weight? :)

  14. Lol...loved the pizza story! That's actually funny b/c I keep telling Jason I'm going to do the same thing. Food just doesn't taste very well when you have to chew it so many times. I just sent you an e-mail about my 1st unfill experience. :)

  15. Hi! Surgery went better than expected. I did great the 1st night home. I've had terrible gas pains! The most annoying part is a pain in my chest. Natalie actually told me I needed to go into the office to see Dr.K so I did this a.m. He removed 1.2cc's from the band. It took the sharp pain away but still feel like something is sitting on my chest. Idk...but its very uncomfortable. Hoping it will subside w/time. Thx for checking in on me! :)

    Newbie in AZ

Hi! I was also banded on the 29th and am feeling the same as you. I've had terrible gas pains and nothing seems to help. :frown:Not even walking. I'm wondering if I made the right decision but its too late to have 2nd thoughts now. You are so lucky your insurance paid for it as I am a self-pay and feel like I have a lot riding on this procedure. I haven't been able to eat much but I am hungry and my stomach is growling. I also feel as if there is something stuck in my chest. I know that there isn't though as I've been on Clear Liquids. Now I'm nervous for my 1st fill if this isn't restriction. I do have to remember this is only the 2nd day post-op. Hang in there! I think its normal to feel all the emotions. Its a life changing event. We can do this!:smile2:

    Shoulder pain...

I just had surgery on Mon. and I too have really bad gas pains. My Dr. warned me about the shoulder pain b/c of the same nerves that innervate. I only had the shoulder pain the first night but now I have terrible pain in my chest. I posted a thread to seek help as well. I think the only thing we can do is walk of course and gasX strips. Neither of those seem to be helping so I guess I will have to wait it out. I've heard that the gas can last up to 3 wks. Grr...I sure hope not!
  18. Hi everyone! Well, I did it and I am one day post-up. Surgery went well. I have some pain around the large incision site (where I think the port is). Other than that, I have TERRIBLE gas pains. I've been using the gasX strips but they don't seem to help. I've also been walking a lot in hopes of some relief. Nothing...anyone have any other suggestions for the gas pains? I will do anything for some relief. Thx!:dita:

1 day post op and scared

I am now 1 day post-op and doing ok for the most part. I have TERRIBLE gas pains tho. I've been popping the gasX strips like they are going out of style but they don't seem to be helping much. I've also been trying to walk walk walk. If I didn't have the gas pains, I would be doing so much better. Anyone have other suggestions for the gas pains? Thx!
  21. Hello again! Thanks to everyone for the best wishes.:dita: I thought I would check in again this a.m. I'm having more pain today but to be expected on the 2nd day. I do have TERRIBLE gas pains which is the worst part for me. I've been popping the gasX strips but they don't seem to be helping much. I've also been walk, walk, walking. I thought maybe you gals may have other suggestions for the gas, any thoughts? Thanks!
  22. How did it go? or  I'm doing better than expected. Just some major gas pains and some pain at the large incision site. Other than that, I'm glad to be home and will continue taking my pain meds. Hope all is well your way!

  23. Hi lady! I'm doing well after surgery but I do have some pretty nasty gas pains. I came out of anesthesia very well and was so pleased. I didnt even feel all that groggy. Yay! Was well on my home by 1:00 just like you said. :) I also have some pain @ lrg. incision but thats to be expected. I have not yet heard from Ambra but do hope she's doing well. She just got to post-op when I was leaving. How was your 1st day back @ work?

  24. Hello everyone! I was banded today and thought I should "pop" in and let everyone know I'm doing great! Surgery was @ 9:00 and I was on my way home by 1:00. Amazing! I'm having a little bit of gas and some pain @ larger incision but other than that doing well. :cool2:
  25. Hey you! So tomorrow is my day. EEK! I am nervous but totally agree the mind is such a powerful thing. I'm sure I'll be fine. I'm just SO ready to get surgery over with. How was the flight home? I'll post when I can. Thx for all the advice. :)
