i tried to get into walter Reed. I'm not in their region, and they are getting so busy doing the band, that they wouldnt' except me. Stating that they have to take care of their region people first. I was fully prepared to pay for travel there for however long it took. The way I looked at it, I could either spend 11,000 on the surgery and not have it covered, or I could spend 6,000 on travel for the next year and have it covered. To bad for me, just 2 months before finding out about them doing it:cry at walter reed, i had been living in there region!!!!

So it was the actual lapband surgeon office that submitted it? Did you have a PCM referral to there? Are you Prime?

How are some of you getting it covered? It's not a covered procedure at all. Except at an MTF and I have only found 2 in the country that do it. Both not in my region so I couldn't go there. And to the woman that said go to the website and search it, no where on it does it say its covered at all. Vertical gastic banding is not the same thing as lapband. Can someone help me understand how you got it covered and where in the last 12 months since that is the basic timeline that they would no longer cover it? I just cash paid last month for it, because i was so againest me have gastric bypass.

There is Dr. Chang and Dr. MCDaniel right in Victoria. And there are a few docs in San Antonio too. I'm not far from you, i'm in Portland. I just had surgery Dec. 26th!!! My surgeon is in San Antonio, so I'll just be going to him for awhile. Those are the closest to corpus though. Angie 246/232/????

He did my best friend almost 2 years ago and my moms friend a few months ago. They have had nothing but good things to say about him. I wanted to use him but i'm a self pay so I couldn't pay his 15,700 when I can go to san antonio for 10,950. I'm not doing it just to save the money, the wish center is combariably good to Dr. Spiegel.

I'm going self pay in San Antonio through the Wish Center. They have a cash price of 10,950 which includes most of your preop, they just want you to have a recent physical, yearly woman exam, chest xray and a letter from your PCm clearing you health wise for an elective surgery.
