  1. It breaks my heart to read so many threads about the awful things people have said to so many fellow bandsters. There are so many unsupportive and misinformed people out there who are raining on people's parades. I was so fortunate to have super supportive people around me when I announced my desire for the surgery and later when I actually had it done.

I thought this could be a place where we could share all of the wonderful and positive things that are happening in our lives. I'll start . . . but I'd love to hear yours . . .

    - I went on vacation and lost 3 pounds instead of gaining 10.

    - I'm down 2 whole pant sizes.

    - I have more energy.

    - I'm happier.

    - I'm not a slave to Diet Coke or the drive-thru anymore.

    - I exercise.

    - I went to lunch with a group of ladies and ate the least out of everyone (never would have happened before).

    - I am starting to like my body.

Can I just say that I L-O-V-E my band???!!!!????!!!!!! If I can do this, so can ANYONE. What are your positives right now???

    Congrats to you....

I also love my band. I love that I can get up every morning and walk three miles and I also walk 5 miles every night without getting tired. I also love that I get full after a half of cup of food without a fill. I also lost 40 pounds in 6 1/2 weeks and lost 3 dress sizes. Like I say to the people who knew I get the band, I you have any negetive things to say about me being banded, don't say anything at all.... Once again, I LOVE MY BAND!!!

  2. Hi,

My name is Sherry. I'm hovering around 300 pounds and am beginning to think Lap Band surgery is perfect for me. I can't wait to contact my doctor and begin the process.

Welcome Sherry, I got banded on May 21st 2008 and I will tell you it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Well Good Luck with your journey...

  3. I just had my sleep study last night. The tech said that she could not tell for sure if I had sleep apnea or not. She said most of the time she can tell right away. She said my doc would not have the results for two weeks. Uggggh. Long time.

What has everyone else's experience been with the sleep study and the waiting and were you able to get a clue at least as to whether you had it or not?

I am just not a very patient person is all today. I have a whopper of a sunburn (again, my fault) and just sort of wanted a real good good hint as to whether or not I was going to be heading to the "waiting line" or the "moving forward" line.

Well, when I went for sleep study, the tech is not supposed to tell you if you have sleep apena or not. The off will call you back if you have it in a week or two. If you have sleep apena, you have to do another sleep study sleeping with a mask the second time around.

  4. Hi everyone.

I am pre-op, waiting for a date. I am researching as much as I can and as I am sitting here I am sipping a cup of and not really thinking too much about how fast I am gulping it down.

These questions have been going through my mind for the last few days.

What did you find the most difficult to come to terms with after your surgery?.

Which habits did you find hardest to break?

If you feel really thirsty can you 'gulp' drinks? or is that where sipping every 15 minutes comes in??..

    Thanks..

    Hello,

My most difficult this is to lotion my left leg and foot. "lol" Because my port is on my left side.

I do feel thirsty sometimes but a sip is just enough right know. And I haven't felt hungry since I had the surgery which was on May 21st. Well good luck to you and keep in touch.

  5. Hi everyone!!!

I went to my 2 week post op appt yesterday..... I am down a total of 27 since I started this journey.... about 14 of those are since surgery. :tongue2:

I also got the go ahead to exercise again.. I got up at 530am this morning and did that for an hour... Felt most excellent to be back at Curves! The girls were all impressed to see me back so soon.....They missed me LOL!

I am able to have apple sauce and blended banana cottage cheese yogurt ricotta cheese refried Beans things like that over the next 2 weeks. I had a Protein shake with half a banana in it and now I am having some no fat refried Beans with no fat sour cream and some smooth salsa on top! Tastes really good....Not as much Protein as I usually get in at "lunch"... only about 10 grams so I will need to have a shake for an afternoon snack.

Things are progressing very well for me... I am still thrilled with my decision.

After two weeks with these foods I can move onto pureed meats like chicken salads and tuna salad... soft fish... and soft cooked veggies...and then onto regular foods....

I may not be getting a fill until August because I have summer travel plans and they dont match up well with the fill schedule.. she did however say that I can make an arrangement if I feel like I need one and it is outside of the two times a month they do fills. The 3rd Friday in July just may work out though. So it is going to either be July or August for a fill... OR she said if I dont feel I need one then whenever I want one to give a call....

    How is everyone else doing???????

That is wonderful, congrats on the 27 pound weight loss. I was also banded on the 21st of May and I lost 20 pounds. My nutritionist said I can eat pureed foods like chicken, egg salad, tuna, and so on. Well anyway good luck and way to go.

    ~~jessica

I was also banded on May 21st and it is alright to have v8 and Tomato Soup. The nutritionist gave me menu. Your on full liquids right, if so you can have it.

Hello mstrina, Yes I did it!!! Everything went fine. I went into surgery at 11:00 a.m. and was out of surgery at about 1:00 p.m. The pain isn't to bad. It will be a week tomorrow and I fell no pain at all. I am feeling a little tired. "Oh" the gas pain is not that bad if you sit up in a chair and talk walks. I'm telling you trina I am so happy I did this, its the best thing I have every done.
