Today I finally get to go home!
My surgeon wants me back in a month for a new endoscopy so she can check that it's keeping open. So even if I get any problems, I have a safely net of an appointment to fix it already.
Now I'm well hydrated again, since I gained 1/2 lb since Thursday. But I'm sure the extra Water weight will be gone soon.
I was cleared to eat pureed food and in addition to that, to try solids as Snacks or meals. If tummy says yes, they can stay, otherwise see you in a months time for a new trial.
So happy to be able to drink fairly normally again! Cheers!!

klouisa64 reacted to James Marusek in How can I stop weight loss?!
I transitioned from the weight loss phase into the maintenance phase quite naturally. The weight loss just tapered off at around 7 months. Your goal weight is just an artificial number. I think my surgeon and I agreed at a goal weight of 190 pounds. But in the end I dropped to near 140. So I wouldn't advise to try and stop it. Just let it run its course.
This is the approach that I used in the Maintenance phase. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery2.pdf
I am 3 years post-op RNY gastric bypass. Mini-gastric bypass is a different type of surgery. But there are similarities between the two.

    Quick update!
Who ever thought I would be happy to know I have a stricture?!? I had the endoscopy done a few hours ago and apparently one opening was so tight that the camera didn't even fit thru. So my surgeon inserted a balloon that she filled with saline to push the hole more open. The stretching causes some bleeding, so I got some meds for that.
I'm back in my room now, drinking milk. The feeling is so much different than before. Still taking small sips, but there is no pain or feeling that it gets stuck.
I still have an iv for hydration and I also got a Vitamin B drip, because I haven't been eating much lately and my labs show malnutrition.
But I feel so much better than before! Maybe my weight loss will start to pick up now that I can physically eat more..? One can always hope!

I'm 55 and am new to WLS. I have been thinking about this for quite awhile. I have my consultation on Wed.
I have been reading many posts about bypass. I decided on this because it is the gold standard and I think it has the best results from what I have read.
I have tried to diet and exercise but the results have been dismal. My health has been getting worse and I don't see an end in sight. In the past 18 months, I have had 8 rounds of shots in my back, and 3 radiofrequency ablations. And my pain from the osteoarthritis not only gets worse, but is spreading to my hips and knees. I can no longer walk unaided but need my cane. This has limited my activity. This summer was the worse! My 9 yr. old granddaughter, who I've practically raised from birth, came to stay with me for 7 weeks. I wasn't able to do the things that meant so much to her before.... no long walks in the woods, no hiking at our local park, no festivals and I constantly heard "Are you okay Ga?" from her when we did go out cause I was breathing so hard
I was also diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and have a BIPAP machine, it scared the crap out of her! She actually asked me what she had to do if the mask came off and I wasn't breathing!!! Talk about a wake up call!
The first time I saw obesity on my medical report, I was in denial...... see I haven't always been overweight. I haven't wanted to really say this on here but this is my reality. I was very thin until I was in my mid 30's. Then I started gaining and gaining. It began when I started my bipolar meds. One of the docs decided that I was too thin and put me on a med that took me from a size 7 to a size 16 in 3 months! And of course, it stayed in that range until I had my hysterectomy. Then I gained and gained.
Anyway, I don't want to be the fluffy Ga who can't do anything fun with her.... I want to be healthy and happy. I want to set a good example for her and my other granddaughter. I want to be there for their journey thru life.
I want to be able to live again and enjoy life for the next 40-50 years. I don't want to be in worse health than my 83 year old Mom, like I am now!
I'm glad I found this forum and all of you!

I constantly run into Sleevers in their 50s and 60s but I would love to get to know some of you who are bypassers. Seems our life experiences and potential difficulties may make us good support for each other! (You know, little things like menopause, arthritis, etc...). Please come out of "hiding" and gather here. I need to see yall in action! And would love to support you as well!

    I have two dogs.
One sleeps against my worn out right knee....she's warm and keeps the nighttime pains away.
The other sleeps on my blown out right shoulder. It is amazingly therapeutic.
They just pile up there when I get in bed. I've never coached them to do so.....but those are the EXACT spots I'd go for.
I sleep well thanks to my girls.
So......my advice......go forth and get yourself a pair of great dogs.

Today make a month since I had my Gastric bypass surgery. So happy to be here , to feel the weight come off and see it and to hear others say how good I'm looking. Though I told myself this surgery was not for me to look good , that's not why I did it, even though I do want that to come in play as well , but I did it to feel good, be healthy and I can say I am off diabetes meds, high blood pressure meds and my knees feel much , much , much better. Starting weight was 377lbs , pre-op weight 353 today 317 . September the 14 when I laid on that operating table I told myself this change is for you. Don't do it for nobody else but for you.
