  1. Anyone sleeved in January 2016? I was sleeved January 25. So far I hate it. What is your life like right now? What are you doing, what are you eating? How are you feeling?

    Before & After pics

I think it's encouraging and empowering to ourselves and our WLS sisters& brothers to show some before and afters. Everything you went through (or are about to go through) deserves a little praise. Even if you aren't at goal weight yet, (I'm not!!) share !

Has anyone had to have skin removal surgery? It's starting to look like I'm going to need to, bad. Are the scars bad? What's recovery time like?

    Regrets?

Immediately after surgery I regretted the whole thing but looking back a few months later, if you seriously can't keep the weight off like me, no regrets.

Who was sleeved in January 2016?

@@Dummblond I'm so sorry girl. I'm getting better with it all, some days I'm almost normal but I have rough days where I'm just so depressed. You need to branch out what you're eating, like with the refrigerated stuff, get some things in your diet that you can carry around. I talked to my surgeon about the nausea (because I seriously just couldn't handle it anymore it was awful) and he gave me some meds for it & they worked awesome and I'm off them now. We are far enough out from surgery we should be resuming normal diets. Seems so much easier than it is, I know. But I highly encourage you to branch out what you eat, it'll get you back to normal! & as far as 41 pounds goes... I was 280 when I started this whole thing and I'm 215 now, I was at a stand still until I started incorporating veggies and more meats & when I started going for walks weight shed off again. A plateau in weight loss is normal around this time. You'll get through it!!!

Who was sleeved in January 2016?

After reading everyones encouraging posts and food examples I've branched out what ice been eating. I'm doing good! I noticed red meat gives me heartburn. Something else I've noticed, and wonder if anyone else- I'm nauseous in the morning and do NOT want to eat. I sip on water and protein (because I know I have to) but it takes me a couple hours before i can eat. Anyone else have/had that?

What do you guys eat? Like examples of foods. I'm trying to broaden my diet but I get scared to try new things.

Who was sleeved in January 2016?

@@rydersmama I just am sick of eating the same thing (eggs, beans, cheese...etc). It hurts when I eat, eating is a chore now. I'm only 20 years old. I want to be able to go out & eat with my friends or eat pizza when they do and ill be 21 in May- doubt I'll be able to drink. It's not that I want "pizza" it's that I want to be normal like my friends. I think this was too much for me, too young. Now the rest of my life is going to be about watching what I eat and being careful. I'm 20 and I signed up for no more bread or pop for my life. What was I thinking, you know?

Who was sleeved in January 2016?

@ My life is iffy right now. I had some complications where my stomach was rejecting, water, food, protein, it just threw everything back up. I got real sick and ended back in the hospital getting infusions of food and water through an IV. I am very afraid to try new foods. I eat eggs, I'm super over them right now, refried beans, I made chili tonight, I eat chicken and pork but like you said it's BOOM your full. I long for a salad, the ones with lettuce & spinach, cheese, tomato, cucumber! But my nutritionist said wait until April to try raw veggies. I am just sick of eating the same things every day. & While I'm eating I'm so cautious of eating slow and making sure my stomach is agreeing that it's a chore. And after I eat my chest kinda hurts, they say that's normal and it will go away. I just find eating tedious. I'm still off work because I got so unbelievably weak when my stomach was rejecting and my job is very physical. I also feel very alone. My mom and sister are so concerned with their new diets that they barely notice if I eat or not, everything is about their recipes and meal prep.

    Feeling miserable

My family had said the whole time I was waiting for surgery they would quit drinking pop with me and they'd support me and all that. After about a week they, much to my surprise actually, ate whatever they fricken wanted in front of me and drank pop daily. When I tried to say anything they'd say "we can't just not eat cause you can't" like I'm the bad guy. I'm a month out and for the last 3 weeks I've been on my own, people eat what they want in front of me and I just cry lol. I have no appetite I look in the fridge forever then just give up. It takes me forever to finally eat. Hang in there, I'm suffering with you.

    I want pureed food!

I was only on liquids for a week and half. Then I started on all types of soups and such and worked in puréed. You should talk to you dr, you need protein and your body needs to get used to food again if you stay on liquids TOO long you'll have a hard time with food.
  15. I'm 3 weeks and a few days out! The picture on left is me the 1st day of liquid diet and the second is a few days ago. I'm at a plateau with me weight loss, losing very little or no weight for the last 4 or 5 days. I'm down almost 40 pounds though! Life since surgery has sucked, it's been full of nauseousness, sensitive stomach & smell, not wanting to eat, being uncomfortable, & pain. But at least I'm losing weight & getting closer to being healthy.

    Getting back to me

I'm only 2& a half weeks out of surgery. Still low on energy, still sore, can't go back to work (heavy lifting). I spend all day trying to get in my meds and protein. Everyday is just a struggle, I don't feel like doing anything but I gotta get my food/protein in, get all my meds in(14 of them!), I honestly am a little miserable. When did you start to feel "you" again? When does the feeling of a normal human come back?

4 months post op and I am loving it!

@@chilet071 When did you start to feel normal again? I'm not even 3 weeks out but I must say I'm sort of miserable. I want my energy and strength back. I want to be able to have an actual day without every thought being me trying to get protein, food, water & meds in.

    Smoking After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

A friend of mine who was sleeved smoked about 3 weeks post, probably one a day for 3 or 4 days. She ended up with ulcers before she was a month post surgery and was back in the hospital. I wouldn't risk it. You're just going through a lot and looking for comfort. You can do this, without comfort food or comfort cigs, Good luck! ????

    Cold all the time?

Fat keeps you warm like a winter coat. As you lose that fat your body is losing insulation- therefore you're cold. VERY common.

    I can EAT!

Monday I can start on puréed/soft foods! Anyone post op have any recipes or foods that worked for them in the transition back to food? I hear mashed potatoes and refried beans are easy on the belly.

    I can EAT!

Omg!! Just ate heaven!! My grandma made me the Jello brand cook & serve hot pudding, sugar free & fat free, the put the tiniest dollop of fat free sugar free cool whip on top, all in a little shot glass for me! ???? it tasted amazing. Great idea if you're having a sweet tooth issue. I think if I do it again I'll add some protein powder to the pudding while its cooking.

    Pre op diet weight loss

@@Angie74 Not proud to say, I was a miserable vegetable during my liquid diet. I got the flu on day 3 and it all went down hill from there. After day 4 is when you REALLY have to stick to only liquids! You'll lose the weight if you do it! Proteins & stay hydrated. I didn't drink a lot of protein and I think that's why my energy was so low. It probably would be a good idea to walk some each day, you don't wanna get weak before surgery like I did.

    I can EAT!

I've been eating puréed/soft foods for 2-3 days now and doing well. Definitely can't eat much at all, just a few bites.
