  1. Clothes have been a frustrating part of this process for me. Even though it should be exciting to put on pants that feel too big, it is also hard to know that you're basically throwing away money on clothes that will only last a month or even less! I got away with leggings and longer shirts for awhile. Old Navy has been my go to place. They have deals online all the time and then you earn bonus dollar that you can use later.

  2. @@Meg53 it has been up and down and definitely filled with some stalls. Water and exercise are key!! I also got a Fitbit at the very start of my journey when I first met with the nutritionist and it has really helped me stay active everyday.

  3. Hi all,

I am just over 3 months out and doing really well with everything. I'm down over 40 pounds and really proud of my progress. I decided when I started this process that I was going to work on my mind AND body and start seeing a therapist. I'm finding that I am especially anxious when I gain because I have the pre-surgery version of myself in my mind and it makes me so nervous that I'll become her again. Or that if I eat one wrong thing that I will gain it all back. Is anyone else feeling like this? I try not to weigh myself too much, but I admit that not weighing myself makes me more anxious because I worry that the weight isn't coming off. And yes, I can obviously see the changes without looking at the number, but at some point the number matters. After all, all of these surgeries are based heavily on BMI. Just wondering if anyone else out there is experiencing this and if you have any suggestions on how to get through it.

    Thanks!!

  4. I've had plantar fasciitis a couple of times in the past, though this is different from the last times. I'm pretty sure I've been misdiagnosed this time. I'm going to look into the Rolfing and astym also. Thanks for the info. Although I know weight wasn't the only factor, after all I do work mostly on my feet, I'm hoping loosing will help.

    Hi @@vegbeth,

I have P.F. too and I had to get a series of 3 cortisone shots to feel a difference.

  5. I was wondering about this too! Do you have to do the 2-week liquid pre-op diet? I'm wondering if that can throw off your system enough to stall your period for a few days.

I had some breakthrough bleeding during the preop diet and it lasted throughout the surgery and recovery. Even almost a month out and my period is still a little messed up!

  6. So this is my first post. I have surgery scheduled for October 13. I am scared and excited all at the same time. Started my liquid diet. It is so hard when the family is eating around me. Any suggestions is welcome.

The preop diet was hard for me, too! You will get through it. Part of what helped me mentally was just wanting to prove to myself that I could do it and not cheat. I also was terrified that they wouldn't do the surgery if I didn't follow the protocols! Keep going - it's worth it!

  7. I am right there with you!! My surgery was 9/10 and I weigh every Sunday! Last week I was down 26, and this week...... Exactly still 26 . It's the three week stall. I am just going to focus on fluids and Protein this week and not go near the scale until next week. I was also told that our bodies have a "memory" too, and I can't help but notice that I was stuck at 238 for about a year, which is exactly where I am now. So smile and embrace it, some of us are arm in arm with ya right now

I'm going to try to do what you do and just weigh in once a week. I just like knowing so that is going to take some will power!!! ♡ we got this!

  8. @@lilijo,

Congratulations on your surgery! Yep, the three-week stall is definitely a thing, especially when your first few weeks after surgery have seen such fast weight loss, like you! Your body is just catching up from the stress of surgery and the quick weight loss. You’ll lose again when you’re ready as long as you follow the program!

In the meantime, what should you do? Stay positive, because there is no point in getting down about something you cannot control. Stick to your diet, since that is what will let your body lose more weight when it is time. Bump up your liquids, since that can never hurt. Focus on non-scale victories, since there will be TONS of progress during this time, like feeling better and losing inches if not pounds.

    Congratulations again, and good luck!

    Thanks, Alex!!!

  9. Thank ya'll so much! I've been getting so worried about not being able to consume enough fluids. Today was better! Fluid goal is 40 oz and I got 43.9! Protein goal is 30, I got 34! Plus and extra 1/2 cup of applesauce! Praying for each day to be better than the day before.

  10. The beginning is tough with appetite. I'm just over 3 weeks out and still don't really have an appetite. Do the best you can, especially in the first few weeks, but make sure you drink your fluids. Jello was a good snack for me that counts as a Fluid. I've also been drinking Water with lemon or other sugar free flavors. Keep trying - it will get a little easier!

My only complaint is that I wish my body would get on board with my desire to purge some poop. Oof... that sucks a lot!

Colace lbut not getting any relief so I'm heading out for Milk of Mag or Miarlax. That's the vast majority of my discomfort.

I had the opposite problem post -op. Everything would come pouring out of me 30 minutes after I ate until this week when I started pureed food.
