10 days post op and EATING!
twirl replied to DaMomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have insurance but my surgery was way more than 6,500 I can still eat anything and have had one fill I am right now eating squash mushed up and is it good - my doc allowed me to eat reg foods so soon after surgery banded 12/9 reg foods 12/24 that seems sooner than anyone else but I did follow his rules the only thing I did differently was to eat a mushy on a liquid day after the first fill I am on dialysis and was getting way to empty and sick at my tummy so a little cream of chicken soup helped my case is a little different being on dialysis and all and my fluids are limited this is not as easy to stop eating as I thought but I am not spitting up anymore this is a long road good luck to all of us -
The Daily Coyote and a cookbook for after weight loss surgery recipes both books are wonderful

do you get a numbing agent before a fill?
twirl replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not gotten anything for the needles when getting a fill but I do have something that I use when I get two needles inserted when I go to dialysis it helps Lidocaine and Prilocaine Cream, 2.5%/2.5% I place this cream on the site to be stuck and cover it with plastic wrap this should be none at least an hour before you get the needle it helps the cream is topical prescription -

I was able to eat regular foods much sooner than you are but I have learned every doc is different banded on 12/9 and regular foods on 12/24 I do not think you have hurt your band I did the same as you and had a fill on wed and nothing was said about the band and they showed me the band so do not worry and I still get hungry -
2 days post op - feeling terrible
twirl replied to AngelWhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
a couple of days after I was banded I wanted to pull this band out myself I went to the doc on a Sat morning and he took some fluid or something out and he said I would feel better and I did I have lost 2 lbs and have had one fill and I still wonder if it is all worth it I do know that I am not eating the amounts of food that I ate pre-banding so the weight loss will come hang in there it is better and it will get better then after the first fill I had to be on liquids for two days and mushies for two days and then regular foods did not enjoy the liquid days -
I was banded 12/9 and have lost no weight I am eating tons less than I did pre-band I was ready to get this thing out the first week after surgery now, I do not feel that way but this is not fun

Losing my virginity to the LapBand!
twirl replied to AngelWithHorns's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
losing your virginity to the band where exactly are they placing the band -
I was banded on 12/9 and the first week I wanted to get it out. I had little pain but I had a hard time swallowing meds I have to take. I went a few days after surgery and had some fluid removed and it helped. The burping when you over eat and foods comes out if the pits but you learn how to control it. the best thing about the band to me is that I do not think I will lose and regain and lose and regain----- I eat so much less than before and I mean tons less but I have lost no weight but I am able to turn down foods--- I still get hungry but it is more controllable than before--- it is not a fun thing to do to yourself and I have regrets---- but then again why did I let myself get in this position in the first place- I do miss the food and it is hard to eat with friends and family but you get used to it and it seems normal I also back out several times and a few times it was due to other health problems but each time I was glad -- now there is no backing out----- and I am glad I did it but it is by no means easy good luck and please let me know how you are -- I was so sorry I did this -- now I am glad so really think about it cheryl (twirl)

I was banded on 12/9 and have been eating tons less of food really tons less and I have not lost a thing I am hungry but am able to ignore it this is so much better than before I was banded I am due to have my first fill tomorrow and I am so worried the doc's wife can be mean about weight and she has never had a band and she will never need one I am also on dialysis so I do not know it this makes a difference in rate of loss I am not allowed to drink more than 50 ounces a day I know drinking lots of water helps please help thanks
-
can you get another band when you are healed your weight loss is incredibile - are you getting as hungry as you were before the band I will be praying for you and stay strong I have been banded since 12/9 and I have not been happy with it but I do not eat the amount of food that I ate before the band and I do not want to go back to eating that amount again I have lost nothing but I do feel the inches good luck to you

I am in Conroe and was banded in Houston on 12/9 have not lost anything as far as I can tell but am eating so much less food I think the Mexican and Chinese food restaurants in the Woodlands are going out of business b/c I no longer eat there

yesterday one new dollar burger from sonic and they make it like a regular burger only it is small it was very good and I did not get hungry for the rest of the day we went to eat Mexican food with the family - I did not want to go but went -- I ate 6 chips, two bites of refried Beans and one bite of avacodo dip and that was all breakfast --- 1/2 c spinach, two sting cheese. 4 suasage, cheese balls --- ( very small ) 6 soft cheetos and a small cup of peaches - no sugar --- small container it is not really a cup I ate this over a four hour period while hooked up at dialysis I was banded on 12/9 and have had no fills I am pleased with what I ate yesterday and maybe it is too much for having a band but it is tons less than I would have eaten pre-band

twirl replied to aprildurham23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was banded on 12/9 and was told on 12/24 I could go on regular foods two days on liquids three day - 12/23 - soft and mushy and almost reg foods 12/24 regular foods had a piece of toast with Promise -- minus the crust and it was sooooooo good and went down fine I can not do potatoes---- get stuck -
11 days out of banding and was told to eat soft foods went out for the first time and was very nervous 1-cheese enchilda - refried beans 6 chips two bites guamole -- some tastes of hot sauce l pb - small one sipped on melted ice our doc said to get a glass of ice and as it melts - while you are eating -- sip that and it helped taking small bites and getting the flavor of all is the key to eating --- I guess I still want more than 1/4 of a c
-
do you also get little burps when you sip and I do not sip much at a time:smile:
-
I am 11 days out of surgery (12/9) and am having soft foods does anyone get tiny air burps when eating more annoying than anything and then I can get slight pain in the area where the foods go down
-
I am 59 and was banded 10 days ago I was told I could have soft foods I went for mexican, which I was really afraid to do I ate very slowly sometimes just placing a drop of hot sauce on my tongue and I had beans, one cheese enchilda and some avacodo sauce I sipped on ice melting in my glass --- no fluids in glass-- just ice all went well better than when I ate tuna
-
mine was also repaired during surgery and I think it makes a difference my doc says it does not but I think I am less swollen I had the band and the repair at the same time what is the difference in quick reply or go advanced
-
I have been banded for 10 days now and would like to know if I will ever be able to eat more than 1/4 cup at a time I mean 1/4 of sweet potatoes and that is all I eat for the whole meal or as time goes on will I be able to eat a cup of food at a time 1/4 c seems hardly worth eating I do not care for sweets my problem will be when I have to cook all the other foods that are not sweet suasage balls, taco meat --- everything else
