  1. I do like the way you think:smile:
  2. Mine isn't as conservative as the other mention in this thread, but the PA is fairly conservative. Weight loss has been slow-but I've not gotten stuck, thrown up or felt sick at all. ever. I'll take that over faster weight loss any day.
  3. If it's under the fluro, it looks intimidating, but once you are there, it's no big deal and I could actually watch the Fluid going down, took my mind off the large needle in my abdomen. It's not even as bad as any of the pricks they gave you in the hospital. It's really a pain going back on liquids for a few days afterwards! that was the part I really don't like:smile: You'll be fine. I guess my thought is, the numbing agent is out there, why not offer it. It would be nice to at least have it offered at my doctor's office.
  4. It's not offered but it would be nice. It does go pretty fast though. I used to numb myself before I had to do intramuscular shots to myself. Makes it a lot easier.
  5. I found Irn Bru at the grocery store today, a treat that I cannot pass up. I'm going to let it de-carbonate a bit before I drink some. I was banded in Jan of this year.
  6. I think that is a general statement, everyone is going to lose at their own pace. I have heard that if you start out larger, you should lose at a faster pace in the beginning. I'm sure someone will contradict me, but thats my understanding.

people on here bruise easier then a hot house tomato. grow a pair. This is aimed at everyone.
  8. Thats all pretty fast from the beginning to the date of the surgery--you don't know what all you don't know! I can suggest reading, reading and reading some more. Take a lot of what you read on here with a grain of salt. Everyones diet, surgery stories, placement of the port, pre diet, post diet, exercise regime---everything is different for everyone depending on what your surgeon wants you to do. I really do mean everything. You can sort out a lot of the basics just because you will read the same thing three dozen times, over and over and over again. See if the surgeons office or the hospital he practices from has a meeting schedule where you can go to a few after surgery meetings and you can ask a professional question or get some more handouts from them. PS--they hate it when you use the work Fuck on here oh wait I just used the word Fuck on here damn there I go again!
  9. I posted my hint and everyone thought it was gross. My surgeon had a specimen cup sitting out at our first interview. A specimen cup is just about 4oz in volume. Mixing the ideas of a specimen cup and eating might be gross--but you can see in your head the volume of a specimen cup now, can't you. I thought it was a very good visual.
  10. Try to get in to see the surgeon/PA on Monday. Different companies treat sick leave differently--try to take all the time at once, don't go back Monday and then take the rest of the week off---try to get a note from the surgeon on Monday so you can relax and heal for as long as you need without worrying about going back too soon. I took a full week off and was very very beat my first week back, I also have a desk job.
  11. Who says you have to have breakfast food?? Eat some typically dinner food for breakfast:smile: I've never eaten an egg of my own free will
  12. When I went to the surgeons for my 1 week checkup I asked for some of that adhesive remover. I was ready to use Goo Gone!
  13. My ins is Blue Cross/Blue Shield thru the Commonwealth of VA and I went to Commonwealth Surgeons at St Marys Dr Bautista with no 6th month diet I really like their practice. I wish I could be of more help
  14. On the oral sex thread----there is a protein involved.......but is it a slider???
  15. I'm 43, banded in January, married 13 years and my husband had a vasectomy Can I have unprotected sex?
  16. My surgeon did it after the surgery to make sure the band was positioned properly. As with every part of thise procedure--your doctor may do something different. But at least you're prepared if you do have to have it done again.
  17. I had a barium swallow after leaving the recovery room and before I actually got to my room after surgery miserable. The woman taking the x-rays had no patience and was no help in getting me off the gurney or onto the table. I was having "this isn't so bad after all" thoughts in the recovery room--that changed as soon as I had to do that swallow. The taste didn't bother me too much
  18. Lying down is horizontal unless you are standing while sleeping!! silly:smile:
  19. Buy yourself something pretty by carb loving friend! Preferably in gold or sterling silver
  20. Tough Love sux You could try to, as tactfully as you can, tell them that you can eat anything you want. That you've had great progress with the choices you've made so far and that, although you will make some bad choices, sometimes you need a small treat to keep you sane. I am not tactful and would not be so nice--be glad we're not related!
  21. I like that you dont refer to that person as a friend!
  22. Once the swelling goes down you should be able to drink a lot more then you do right now. Then comes the hunger and drinking will help (they say it helps, I've never been convinced) with the hunger. I have a desk job and drink about 80oz a day.
  23. normal(ish)-- two weeks, totally normal --a month I was eating normal foods at 4 weeks, so that helped me to feel normal. For now and the first week rest!
  24. This--try to say it before she asks. I was watching that show "Ruby" it's a reality show about a woman and her weight loss. In the show I was watching, she had lost 100lbs I could not tell the difference
  25. Damn! I saw my surgeon exactly twice--right before I went under and right before I went home haven't seen him since! They say that travelling for medical procedures is going to be getting a lot more common, I can see why!
