  1. A lot of times the say as soon as you aren't on any narcotics I drove the day after surgery.
  2. My restrictions were, no lifting over 10lbs for the first few weeks and no sit-up type exercises for the first 6 weeks. After surgery you need to be careful, but no so careful--pulling up my underwear and socks were fine. Just nothing too fast. You aren't made of paper mâché
  3. I take a multi-Vitamin and a Calcium pill--I've had three fills and no problem taking pills. The thread title looked (at first) like "The Pill" as a supplement, I was going to look in here to see what they were putting in the pill nowadays!

    Question about Lasix

From the sounds of your post, your surgeon took you off the Lasix--but did your regular doc prescribe it to you? Surgeons will temporarily take you off some medicine for the surgery-they might not interact well with the anestesia and other resons that, if I'd spent 12 years in school, I could tell you! I would also put a call into your regular doctor, the one who prescribed it in the first place just to be on the safe side.

Relize band vs allergen all banders

I have the Realize band--my surgeon said that he's done roughly the same amount of surgery using both. He had no preference. I don't want you to think I did the surgery on a whim, I did ask a million questions before and after surgery but he didn't tell me anything that made me choose the Realize. It would have been the same if I'd tossed a coin.

    Pepsi Throwback

I was a Diet Coke person myself. However! I was at a Mexican mart last week & they had some Mexican Coke (made with sugar!) I bought a bottle (yes a bottle) and poured myself about 3 tablespoons, let it lose some of the bubbles & drank it fantastic stuff! I don't crave diet soda anymore feels good:smile:

    What NOT to eat!???

One guess as to what I'm going to say It depends on each person! I was banded 1/14/09 and have more then 5cc's in, I can still eat anything. there will be people that post after me that have problems with everything from pasta to chicken to broccoli. Good Luck dear!

    Port location and Pain

I had my surgery on 1/14/09 and my port is about 1-2" below my left breast. Even though it's higher then where most of you folks seem to have yours--I did have pain when bending over for the first three months. It got better and better as time went by. I know it's there, and it twinges with pain occastionally, but for me at least the majority of the pain has finally gone away. I hope all of you feel a lot better with some time passing too.
  11. Same advice here--Mine was 1/14 exactly two weeks after New Years, nothing going on, no holidays no vacations nothing. I didn't have to cook for any occasion or go anywhere where I wasn't exactly sure what I could eat. Just a lot less stress. Totally enjoy yourself, have a big ol' Mickey pancake and refocus when you get back
  12. I lost weight and if I'm gonna advertise how much I weigh/lost. it's going to make me look good. I would never have gone on such a strict diet as the liver shrinking one if I wasn't having the band done It's a part of the process. Did I mention that I lost weight?

    jeans and port

My port is only about 2" below my bra line, I know there are some "mom jeans" out there but DAMN, I don't wear them that high! But some help for my short sisters--Both Lee and Levis have some jeans (docker pants in Lee) that come in Short. The sizes go up to a 24 I think--30 in Lee The Lee pants & jeans sit on the waist and below also. JC Penney has the Lee. SuzanneG--I was also banded in Richmond:smile:
  14. As a person who cross-stiches, I wonder if I would take that skill into surgery with me if I were a doctor. Just a thought......
  15. stitched on the inside and steri-strips on the outside.
  16. Three fills and nothing has stuck so far. I'm really really good at chewing until there's nothing left though. I had about 1/3 cup of Coke the other day--it was from Mexico and made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, tasted like it did back when I was a kid!! I was really careful about taking a few sips and waiting to make sure my stomach didn't revolt. I won't be going back to any carbonated beverage, but it was a nice treat.
  17. Tell them "Yes, I have a bit of plastic in me but it's not plastic surgery" Any surgery can be dangerous.
  18. I get filled in about 3 hours--I'll let you know
  19. Even ice chips at this point, hope you can get in to see the doctor first thing Monday. My doctors office only does fills on Mon, Tue and Wed for this reason. Hope all is better tomorrow
  20. I used to think this forum was a little too kiss-assy and all cotton candy and sunny skies. Seems the closer someone gets to their goal weight, or past their goal weight--it's all aboard the bitch train.

    Protein Help Needed

Thats all fine and good but the thread starter is less than a month out from surgery not 4 years. They still need to count their protein and can't eat all foods yet. Do you post just to see your own accomplishments?

    High Anxiety

I was so anxious about all the same things you are that I canceled the surgery last year! I totally understand where you are coming from. I had the surgery on 1/14/09 after all and don't regret it at all. Same as you, I had never been in a hospital for anything and never been under anesthesia before either. I just read and read all I could about the surgery. I wrote down questions for my surgeon and if I thought the PA could answer them, I'd email her instead. I had questions for the surgeon the day of surgery and for the nutritionist the next day before I went home. I had an Ask Your Surgeon About Pain Relief with ON-Q PainBuster® On-Q Pain relief ball (I suck at posting links, sorry) and my surgeon didn't quite put in in right. If it would've been put in right I would've had no pain at all, instead I was very uncomfortable all night. The next day when they took it out (right before I went home) I felt much much better. The hospital I was at was crowded that day so I had two roommates and they were both male. I was not happy about this at all, but it's not something that you have to worry about, I just wanted to bitch about it again! The mushy stage, liquid stage are all temporary, you can get thru it. Treat it like a new way of eating, not a diet. Keep your head on right and you will be just fine. ask as many questions as your surgeons office will answer.
