  1. Once the swelling goes down you should be able to drink a lot more then you do right now. Then comes the hunger and drinking will help (they say it helps, I've never been convinced) with the hunger. I have a desk job and drink about 80oz a day.
  2. normal(ish)-- two weeks, totally normal --a month I was eating normal foods at 4 weeks, so that helped me to feel normal. For now and the first week rest!

    Should i have lied??????

This--try to say it before she asks. I was watching that show "Ruby" it's a reality show about a woman and her weight loss. In the show I was watching, she had lost 100lbs I could not tell the difference

    Bad surgery day stories

Damn! I saw my surgeon exactly twice--right before I went under and right before I went home haven't seen him since! They say that travelling for medical procedures is going to be getting a lot more common, I can see why!

    Another fun thing

I think mine has said 132lbs since 1984:smile: Edit to say--height and weight aren't on VA licenses! I never noticed!

    Anyone lose any rings?

This -->Tiffany & Co. | Item | Frank Gehry® Torque hoop earrings in sterling silver. | United States is my gift to myself for getting, and staying under 200. This--->Tiffany & Co. | Item | Frank Gehry® Torque ring in 18k black gold, narrow. | United States is my gift when I get to 150. I chose the earrings now because I don't want to get the ring sized after losing another 50 lbs!! My engagement ring is super loose and I will have to get a ring guard as well. I just ordered the earrings 10 minutes ago:smile2:

    after surgery

I'd never had any kind of surgery before and had no idea what to expect. In the recovery room I could not have felt more normal! I was listening in on everyones conversations and just chilling. Thirsty but no pain. Plus I hate wearing my glasses, so that was uncomfortable:smile: The insurance required me to stay the night but the next day, I also had the "too many sit up feeling" and held the seatbelt away from me for the drive home. I walked around the house a few times an out into the backyard before taking a nap (no sleep in the hospital) Walking around a few times an hour and very light housework (dishes, folding laundry) for the next two days made me feel quite normal. Third day was out to the mall. I had Vicodin and took it before I felt any pain, ran out after three days and took Tylenol for the next week. I simply don't do well with pain.

    Bad surgery day stories

The bad part of my story is the hospital, not the surgery. I went from recovery straight in to get the test where you drink something while getting an x-ray. I had to hop up onto that cold, hard table and the woman that was doing it had no patience. Then I was rolled into a room with two other people in it both men I am not a man. I was so pissed I just started crying. There was no other room at the inn (or so they said) so I got stuck between two snoring men all night. I was uncomfortable but not in any pain. Did not get a single wink of sleep Went home as soon as I was allowed the next morning Not had any complications, no throwing up, nothing. The band is doing what it's supposed to be doing, helping me.
  10. You say you've been researching for a few weeks--that's not much time. That being said, your PCP's other patients who haven't lost any weight has nothing to do with you, it's your PCPs perception of the surgery that's holding them back from giving you a referral. and that's bullshit. Do some more research but also see if you can get in to see a psychologist or psychiatrist that can help you with this decision. Perhaps getting some other professional involved and getting their ideas may help you. Change doctors no matter what you decide. She's an asshat from your comment of "right off the bat she said I was too young" Perhaps your new PCP can help you get the right dosage and medicine to control your hypothyroidism as well. good luck dear:smile:

    Bandastic Meals

I sometimes feel like cooking and sometimes I feel like reheating :tongue_smilie:
  12. this I worked at Honda of America for 7 years and they had a policy where they would pay you a bonus for being on time and at work every day. The bonus would go up for every paycheck that you were continually on time, you could use your vacation time to make up for it, but vacation time way my time so I was just on time all the time. still am

    Bandastic Meals

that looks like a great way to, as its advertised, supplement your weekly diet. I drink my Breakfast because a) its early and I don't have time to cook something in the morning and :tongue_smilie: I'm basically lazy having a healthy breakfast burrito sounds great! It's only my husband and myself so I don't have to cook for kids anyway but we rarely eat the same thing at dinner anyway, even before the surgery. Suzette-did you get the full order or 1/2 order? did you get anything else? keep me updated, I'm thinking about trying the 1/2 order. Getting this by mail seems like a great way to have something very healthy when I'm tired after work and may be tempted to get something thats not so good for me.
  14. How can your port be tight?
  15. left side a few inches below my breast
  16. I can burp with no problem but to get one up right after surgery I would walk really hard--meaning, take heavy steps sounds silly but it worked for me
  17. Donnainva

    Post Op Hernia?

An obvious question but I have to ask, are you sure it's not your port?
  18. I still avoid mirrors, but I don't see any difference yet
  19. Could be because you're not restricted at all. But I was banded in January and haven't had anything stick or come back to haunt me. I feel like I've posted this a jajillion times, but I keep doing to to tell people that it's not inevitable that you get stuck or throw up. I wish you luck
  20. Cool, I am breaking the law breaking the law!

    carbonated beverages!!!!!

You really need to quit reading my mind! This was exactly what I was thinking jujuvee--Mexican Coke is made with real sugar, our Coke is high fructose corn syrup BillinOh and Jujuvee--check your local Whole Foods or another specialty grocery, they may carry Mexican Coke. To answer the original question--I had an almost a 12-pack a day Diet Coke habit, haven't had one since the surgery. I did have a few sips of a Mexican Coke that I bought a few months ago delish!
  22. Was it a Procologists office by any chance? as the nurse is clearly talking out her ass
  23. that must be why I have idea what this card is, I have the Realize band
  24. I just thought it was some card that each surgeons practice would make up & hand out. I get a doggy bag or order appetizers.
  25. I have 7cc's in a 10cc band--there isn't anything I can't eat. I keep reading about "can't eat this and can't eat that" I honestly don't think I'm just lucky--but I don't know what it is. I've not been stuck, not felt sick, nothing.
