  1. LOL on the closet shopping. I pulled out my size 18 petite jeans a few weeks ago and they were a tad tight but fit. Now they fit perfectly. I have some 18 tops that are looking goood too. I only have a few size 16 things and can't wait for them to fit. Then after that it's just jeans and t-shirts till I lose it all. I won't buy any new clothes except undies and bras till I lose it all. Since I am retired I don't need any work type clothing which is good.
  2. Wow all of the above for me I won't miss huffing and puffing and going one step at a time up stairs. I now can run up them without being out of breath Able to walk for miles without getting winded Not having that huge stomach sticking out front any more Crossing my legs comfortably for the first time in years. One of my double chins is finally gone for good Just the all around feeing good about myself is the best thing ever.
  3. Hey don't beat yourself up over it. Just remember the next time. Maybe good to not have chips in the house. At least for now. I buy those small bags for the family then we don't have a lot around. I admit I ate a bit too much Sunday. I made a nice roast beef with all the fixings except no gravy. LOL I had two small slices. Then I had the half acorn squash with a bit of real butter, and maple syrup and spices. Sooooo good I had two small spoonfuls of smashed red bliss potatoes good also and one small dinner roll. That was a lot for me. But still about half of what I used to eat..... which is a good thing LOL So for the first two days this week I really really dieted and had only 1000 calories a day I usually have about 1200 a day. I still lost a pound in 3 days. Just adjust your diet after cheating for a day or so and it will be fine.
  4. Gee I have a nice hour long chat with questions and no "test" After that we had group meeting with the shrink to help us understand just what the lap band was and how to use it and how to eat properly and think about what we are doing. I don't know if they refuse people but I am sure they have sometimes. This is not a miracle. It's a tool.
  5. I buy the "Thin and Trim" lunch meat, turkey and roast beef or ham. Not other kinds. I love pita bread and now I have a small pita, Josephs with whole wheat and flax seed, it's low carb and no fat. I use lettuce and small think tomato slice. I use a few squirts of the salad dressing with only 10 calories a squirt. Balsamic is very good. Sometimes I just slice it into thin strips and top a small salad. I don't eat much because it's processed.
  6. Congratulations on your new baby, it's great to hear from long time banders. Since I am only about 2 and a half months out. Good that you didn't gain too much when pregnant. I feel this is more a tool than a miracle you get out of it what you put into it...no pun intended. Helps you make the right choices. Especially the food ones.
  7. I started eating cereal the past few weeks. When I am totally starving I have a small bowl of Cheerios with skim milk and splenda. It fills me up and if I eat it slowly and chew, chew, chew it's very satisfying. I also love oatmeal in the winter. I watch my carbs and don't eat bread, except for whole wheat, flax seed pita and then only two or three times a week with my lunch Protein. So far it does not get stuck if I eat slowly and chew.
  8. Hey I can understand. Fat is a way to be invisible. I don't like being that way. I was always friendly and fun to be with. I still am. Even with the modest weight loss now I am looking at myself more. I am also older (60) so the guys aren't going to check me out. Maybe a few old men are LOL. I was thin for many years from my youth to my early 30's. I loved it. Shopping was the bomb as they say. I was cute, blond and petite. I was adorable LOL. Now I'm still blond, still somewhat cute, in an old lady way, and well I just can't stand myself fat. Now I move faster, have more energy and feel 10 years younger. I am happy. Hubby is proud and so is my tall skinny daughter. LOL I an play all day with my 5 month old granddaughter and not be totally exhausted afterwords. I have a Shrink and completed 3 years of therapy before starting this journey. It sure helps to have counseling I recommend it hightly.
  9. Yikes a 38 inch waist is wonderful congratulations. I am just going one day at a time. It's how you feel that is the most important thing. I can now climb stairs at a good clip and no two feet on each stairs either. LOL We will all be in so much better shape by next August we will be so happy....I'm sure of it.
  10. Welcome nice to have new people here It's a great place to go when you need someone.
  11. I had my first fill Sept 19th. Had some restriction for a few days, now it seems I don't have much. I try not to overeat, don't want to mess the band up. But I do get hungry every 3-5 hours. I space my meals and snacks out so that I have something every 4 hours or so. Don't want to get ravenous and eat too much at one sitting. Looking forward to my 2nd fill and some real restriction. Guess it takes more than one fill to reach that "sweet spot".
  12. It changes daily. I eat my Cherrio's with skim milk and splenda. I chew and chew and chew. Don't use much milk and then when the Cereal is goine I save it for my coffee later. lunch is usually pita bread with chicken, tuna or turkey with a little lettuce and tomato slice rolled up. With diet mayo. Snack in afternoon a Protein shake dinner I have 3-4 oz of meat, some steamed soft veggies and a little bit of potato or rice. Maybe two small spoonfuls Snack before bed a container of sugar free fat free pudding or yogurt
  13. Congratulations, I have the same 8 oz. that come and go LOL. I am now only weighing my self on Fridays it's hard but I think that will help. It's a long slow process but every day gets better. Keep up the good work. I also feel so much "lighter" and fit into my skinny (size 18) jeans, some day I hope they will be my "fat jeans" LOL
  14. Well I went with what I weighted when I was in my 20's and early 30's and added a few pounds. I would fee comfortable at 130 and 140 would be fine. But I am small boned so 130 is the best for me. I weighted between 110 and 120 at my younger years.
  15. Oh I can't wait to lose a few more lbs. and get some spanks.....they look so good on I bet. Smooth all those bumps and lumps and sags LOL.
  16. OMG THAT LOOKS LIKE SO MUCH FUN. My Mom's secret wish was to be an old time stripper like Gypsy Rose Lee LOL I start Water aerobics the end of October. Can't wait.
  17. Well only a pound and a half this week. I did eat a tad more than usual, so back on track now. I do need another fill. Not much restriction. But I will be good till the next one. I promise....LOL
  18. Oh I believe it my daughter is 5'11" and her weight was 130, it's now about 160 after having her baby, and she wants to lose about 20 lbs. and be 140. At 130 she was thin. She tried modeling for a while and they wanted her to get down to 115 she told them to go to hell...and quit. She would rather be healthy. I think she looks fine at 160 she has a bit of a pouchie but it's OK. She is losing slowly eating fairly healthy. Most models look sick. I hate seeing really really thin teenagers. But what I hate almost as much as that are the very obese ones. There has to be a nice happy medium. At my lowest weight when I was 24 I was 5'4" and 102 lbs. I look back and I looked awful. Way too thin, I would be in style now. I looked my best at 115 to 120 lbs. I hope to get down now to 130 at the lowest and would be happy at 140. It's a very sad world we are living in when little girls are so afraid of being fat.
  19. It took me 3 weeks before I felt totally back to normal. Just give it a little time. You will fee better soon.
  20. Hey I am 60 and got banded this August, it's never to late. And I applaud your going and doing this. The best of luck, it's a long strange journey but it's sure worth it. I feel so much better with just the small amount of weight I have lost. I can't wait till I am a nice normal weight and healthy. Hang it there it gets better.
  21. I was allergic to the whey Protein after my surgery. I got AdvantEdge at Wal-Mart. It's inexpensive and good. Mix with skim milk, ice cubes 3 and I picked up Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup. I use a good "shot" of the syrup 6 oz of skim milk and 3 ice cubes. Blend till ice is totally gone and it's nice and frothy and cold. Delish.......really I got plain soy protein at the Health food store, added that to my soup and it was good not taste at all.
  22. I feel very little restriction after my first fill in September. I am more or less doing a real diet. So I won't gain weight before I find my "sweet spot" It depends on the food I eat also. chicken can be hard. I eat very small bites and slowly. Can't wait for my second fill. Hope by the end of October or early Nov.
  23. You should be drinking 3 Protein shakes I get Soy Protein shake mix at wal-mart. 20 grams per drink to make 60 a day, then I had my Water and Jello and broth for the first two weeks then on to mushies. I am on regular food but I love to have a protein shake for Breakfast since I don't like to ear early in the morning. I have a small fat and sugar free yogurt with fruit for a snack around 10:00 am
  24. I had horrible bruising that took about 2 weeks to go away. It's very norma.l
  25. Oh I am so sorry to hear that. I hope you can continue to lose weight without it. It's hard I know. Can they replace it at some time? Hope you recover soon.
