I realized I had some deep rooted high expectations..
LSF replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
12 years ago I had lost ALOT of weight on the Phen Phen, I found my self confidence had gone way up and that was when I noticed my life changing in many ways. I gained all that weight back and then some since then and was banded almost a month ago. I know my confidence has gone down over the past 5 years. I know I have a long road ahead of me and am not expecting miracles to happen. Just work on taking care of yourself right now, as you lose more & more weight, you will gain more confidence in yourself knowing that you look 'great'! Who knows where this journey will take you - good luck! -

I started having them day 4 post-op - I was surprised since I was on liquids but after being constipated for 4 days, I was just happy to go. -
Did anyone get RASHES post op?
LSF replied to aprildurham23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you might be having an allergic reaction to something. I would suggest calling your doctor but maybe taking some Benedryl will help if it is an allergy. Good luck. -
At this point, besides the creamy soups you should also be able to have mashed potatoes, FF pudding and SF jello. It will help fill your stomach more.

Restriction following surgery???
LSF replied to Neugene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 3 1/2 weeks out and still have alot of restriction. Even when I'm starving, I can only get about a 1/2 cup of food in. -
Has anyone noticed a difference in how successful their fill is depending on if they get it in the morning or late afternoon? My doctor only does fills on Monday afternoons or Tuesday mornings. I scheduled my first fill in the morning - due to my work schedule but then I started thinking, I wonder if you get more restriction on an empty stomach vs. a full stomach.
-
I will have eaten breakfast before my fill so my stomach won't be totally empty.

I make a ground turkey chili with just ground turkey, chopped onions, peppers & diced tomatoes and simmer in a chili seasoning sauce and then I melt some taco cheese on top before I eat it. It is SO filling!!!

I don't count what the doctors scale says - only mine at home because by the time I see the doctor, I've already had a meal or 2 plus I'm fully clothed.
-
I went through that - it lasted me a week. Start walking when ever you can and use a heating pad as well.

From what I have heard from people in our support group - some only need fills a few times a year - especially as they get closer to goal. I chose the band because the surgery was less invasive and the fills will help you get back on track when you to slip - where-as, with the gastric bypass, I've known people who were able to stretch their stomach back by eating too much and there is nothing they can do to shrink it back. Some people even get the band after having gastric bypass.

You are newly banded, you are still in the healing stage so It's normal to feel some pain at the port right now.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and am also PMS ( I had my period during surgery so I'm curious to see if I get it on ti,e or not). Try not to let yourself go too long without eating. I also have alot of restriction still so I can only eat 3 very small meals and have about 3-4 healthy Snacks. ( my nutritionist has me eating every 2-3 hours at this stage.) It also sounds like gas - I had the bad shoulder pain on day 6 and it lasted for about a week. good luck!

I totally understand where you are coming from. I don't seek the desserts but lately I haven't been able to resist when they are given to me (like at work). fortunately, it only takes me 2 bites to feel satisfied so I'm getting just a 'taste" but I don't want that to become a habit.

incisions and stomach hanging
LSF replied to sandybabe67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
24 hours is the average time to wait until you take a shower. I avoided facing the shower head straight on because I didn't want to mess up my steri-strips. I kept turning sideways. -
Does it bother anyone to sleep on their stomach with their port?
LSF replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried to sleep on my stomach yet but I'm curious - for those that can - where is your port located? Mine is below my right breast - about 3 inches lower. -
Im haven't been able to wait an hour because I'm so thirsty - I try to wait 30 minutes.

Help!! I think I am cheating on my post-op diet plan????
LSF replied to TigerGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded the day before you. Some meals I can only eat 1/2 cup and occasionally I can eat 1 cup. I eat something every 2 hours because I'm hungry and also my nutritionist told me to. -
How long after surgery did the bad habits creep back in?
LSF replied to mgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op and still have restriction. There was a box of donuts in our office yesterday and of course, I was not able to resist. The only good thing that came out of it was I was only able to take 2 bites and then felt the restriction so my co-worker finished it for me. -
Too much restriction and no fill!
LSF replied to Jess1982c's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks post op and still have restriction and there is no fluid in my band. At my support group meeting, they told me it's still the swelling of my stomach. I do get hungry every 2 hours like clockwork and need to eat something but can only eat a small amount at a time. Sometimes I'll be hungry an hour later but I'm trying to make that time for getting my water in. -

Here is my question. Most of us have failed over & over on other diets. I haven't had a fill yet but I read how you are all eating so healthy. How has the band changed this for you when you were not able to do it before? Maybe I'm worried because I lost my willpower the other day and had a brownie and today a cookie. Maybe because I've been so limited on what I could eat these past couple of weeks that I'm craving everything. How do you manage it? What is giving you the willpower? Also, I feel like I am constantly eating because I can only eat a small amount at one time so I'm hungry an hour later. I have been avoiding the scale out of fear the past few days. I'm sticking to Protein, veggies, FF pudding & FF Jello (except for my slips). I look forward to hearing what it is that is making this successful for you. -

Well, I finally faced the scale and saw that I lost another 1 1/2 pounds. I haven't been exercising like I should because it's SOOO cold out that I can't bring myself to get to the gym at night. I'm thinking about ordering one of those cheap gazelle's from Wal Mart just to use for the winter. -

Thanks! It sounds like I just need to be patient and wait to see what it's like when I get those fills. I can tell when it's time to stop eating and I do make sure I stop. Right now I'm using the FF Pudding to satisfy those chocolate cravings.
