  1. I made my first appt in Jan most of the appts were in Feb had a a couple in Mar and two this month. For me I didn't have to do the supervised diet because it isn't a requirement of my surgeon (or insurance cause it is a military hospital) but the coordinator wanted us to lose roughly 10lbs. Now I had accomplished that but because they didn't record my initial weight loss at my first appt she didn't think I had. Oh well, she gave me a note book to fill out and wanted to see my food diary on the next appt after my psych appt. No biggy though, surgery is May 7th *dies happy*

    Some people, I swear...

I just answered over there too. He stated "burrowed/embedded in his colon" darlin, that is a emergancy surgery to repair the damage. Sepsis can and will kill in a matter of hours, if he has something burrowed/embedded in his colon (his words too) it can/will lead to leakage which turns septic. I don't buy it.
  3. Number one, not your friend Number two, if it had "burrowed" or "embedded" would end up the same as a perf' it is still a life threatening situation... and if it was your colon or bowels you would have had emergency surgery then and there to remove the object and repair the "burrowed" or "embedded" area. Sepsis is a very serious thing in the medical community, it can and will kill in a matter of hours. You can polish your halo until you are blinded by it, but I am not buyin ... not even close ...

Listen Ladies (and gents) coming from my lowly EMT experiance .. he is full of crap ... a perfed colon is ER/OR in lightening speed.. sepsis can kill in a very VERY Short time

I hate not knowing if I will be able to tolerate my experimental recipes ... I am a cook by hobby and some schoolin ...
  8. I smell a troll and call bullpucky on all of this. #1 if his colon had been perf'd by the tubing then he would have been in emergency surgery having the tube removed, and the colon repaired. Also he would have been in ICU for quite some time for fear of sepsis. Ok, that is my only point really .. I mean my time as an EMT I dealt with a few issues where a patient had gone septic, they were all life flighted out *we didn't have the facilities in our itty bitty town* due to sepsis and complications with sepsis. So, yeah I call major MAJOR bullshit on this.
  9. A friend of mine does this and she can't understand why I wont get in a car with her driving. She refuses to buckle up, she wont use a hands free set (I swear by mine) and she texts. I took her to the store one day and she couldn't figure out why I wouldn't put the car in drive with her unbuckled, I finally told her that I wont drive with anyone ANYONE unbuckled. She finally grudgingly buckled up then whipped the cross strap behind her. I wouldn't budge still, she fixed it and we moved. She says I am to much of a 'fuddy duddy' to drive with anymore, so be it I refuse to drive with her, and she with me.

Just for BBK!! One of my all time favorite songs.. You're doin' all you can to get in them old jeans. You want that body back, you had at seventeen. Baby, don't get down; don't worry 'bout a thing. 'Cause the way you fill 'em out, hey, that's all right with me. I don't want the girl you used to be. An' if you ain't noticed, the kids are fast asleep, An' you're one hot mama; You turn me on, let's turn it up, An' turn this room into a sauna. One hot mama, Oh, whaddya say, baby? You wanna? Well, I know sometimes you think that all you really are, Is the woman with the kids an' the groceries in the car. An' you worry about your hips an' you worry about your age. Meanwhile I'm tryin' to catch the breath you take away. Oh, an' believe me, you still do. Baby, all I see, when I look at you, Is one hot mama; You turn me on, let's turn it up, An' turn this room into a sauna. One hot mama, Oh, whaddya say, baby? You wanna? I can't imagine me lovin' someone else. I'm a lucky man, I think Daddy's got himself, One hot mama; You turn me on, let's turn it up, An' turn this room into a sauna. One hot mama, Oh, whaddya say, babe? Oh, now whaddya say, babe? You wanna? You're one hot mama, Let's turn this room into a sauna, yeah. Whaddya say, babe? Whaddya say, babe?

Not happy with it either .. hope it goes back
  16. My weight has been a struggle since I developed boobs ... yes .. since then ... I didn't like having a willowy figure with these huge knockers. So I started gaining to try and "even me out" I didn't realize then what I was doing to myself. My mom at the time was a bit larger and my dad was skinny as can be. I wish I knew then what I know now.... I would have never put myself on that cycle of gaining/dieting. But when your 9 and all the sudden you wake up with c/d boobs .. yeah its traumatic :smile2:. As a teen I hovered between size 14 (9th grade) and by my senior year I was roughly 300lbs. I lost half of that back to a comfortable 150(ish). Got in an abusive marriage gained up to 250(ish). Left the abusive marriage and lost down to 160(ish) had two kids and here I sit with a stubborn 245(ish) that wont budge.
  17. I am going over the post op diet he 'prescribes' ... 4 days of Clear liquids, moving on to "solid" liquids... then ... Normal food *as tolerated* .... I called him up yesterday and asked him about this, his reasoning is "mushies go right through the band" ... My jaw dropped, I know he is still relatively new to banding and that he still has to work out how he is going to do things but damnit all. That seems to me to be asking for trouble!! I told him I would bring in all the research I have found from hundreds of different facilities and show him the normal is same for bypass patients. liquid, 'solid' liquids, mushies, then solids as tolerated. Now I am not concerned for myself because my research has one up'd the good doctor (and I do not doubt his surgical skills, he is an awesome surgeon) I will follow the common after care diet I have found, and go that route. But I am concerned for his patients that don't do the research to find out things on there own. *sigh* Surgically speaking he is brilliant, common sense, well lets just say I don't think he showed up for that class

    What to tell Job?

Why lie though??? Tell them you are having surgery, you don't want to go into details and drop it. By law they CAN NOT pry into the surgery type. Lies explode, and when they do ... oh man ...

Don't mother's hold their babies anymore?

What??? Excuse me?? I am sorry to inform you we are NOT on government subsidy, nor are we rich. FFS you talk about how wrong it is to judge and then turn right around and close out your well thought out argument judging stay at home parents!!!!!!! I am a stay at home mom, and let me tell you something dear its a struggle in a military salary staying home with my kids. We cut it close way more times then I care to count, but by god we are doing it on our own no one helps us, no one gives us a leg up now and then. But by damned we are surviving and ya know what? I wouldn't change a damned thing. So you can take that and stuff it up your judgmental craw, I am NOT on welfare never will be, not food stamps not nothing just my hubbies pay.

    What to tell Job?

Just tell him that you are having surgery and need the time off, if he asks what kind tell him it is personal and you don't want to get into it. Lies have a way of unraveling and making a situation very bad.

    Where is everyone from???

Right now I am stuck between Tacoma and Olympia at McChord AFB Washington. I am from Alaska originally and man do I ever want to get stationed back home again!! Or back in Georgia so the hubby can be closer to his family. Either or works for me as long as they get my out of this place .. LOL
  22. Pearl I quite agree!! I come from a family full of nurses, doctors, etc ... I myself was an EMT more years then I care to count. My family would hunt me down if I went into this blind and blith only taking my doctors words as gospel. (my family is weird, we never talk to each other but by gawd you do something that retarded they will know and you will get an earful or 10) My surgeon is going to have a sit down discussion with me about my concerns and research I have done. He didn't seem put out or even upset. Actually he sounded more amused then not. He already knew when he had the first sit down with me I was more prepared and had done more research then most (his words) of his patients. Again, I don't assume to know more then he, or even presume to know more then anyone. But in this I will stick to my guns and go forward with the post op diet as I stated above. Call me crazy but I would rather go forward slowly then blazing ahead of what my body might or might not be able to stand.
  23. Well Hope I don’t presume to know more then my surgeon. I do realize that some doctors do it differently then others. That is all well and good, but (always a but isn’t there) all my research, all my discussion with other doctors, and nutritionists have indicated the common practice is to have the patient on a 4 stage diet, liquids, “solid” liquids, mushy foods, then on to solid foods as tolerated. I brought this to my surgeons attention not to be a ‘know it all’ but to let him know I am not very comfortable with his after care diet. I am in no way trying to be a difficult patient but an educated one. I refuse to be ignorant about things I am planning on doing in my life. If that makes me presumptuous then so be it, I call it educated.
