    Cravings

Read a book. Do an activity you enjoy. Something to get your mind off of the obsessive thoughts of the food you want. Don't give in. Divert those thoughts!!!

    First Time Stuck Today!

Please be careful. You are 14 days post op and still healing. Vomitting is such a violent action on your stomach. Dangerous even for a fully healed bandster. You will have those moments where you are weak. Find a way to stay strong until the moment passes. When that little voice in your head says "I shouldn't be eating this", listen to it!! I know that lil voice popped up!! Hang in there. Once you can move onto solids, hopefully today will be a good lesson for slowing down.
  3. Really? That was one of my MAIN reasons for getting banded. To lose weight so my infertility might clear. That is crazy that he won't band someone who might want children someday!? That can rule out a TON of patients. Is he afraid of his stats getting skewed if pregnant patients regain?

    Welll... Yeah....

Just stop eating around the band. Do it now before it becomes just another bad eating behavior. I mean it. Just stop. I spent too much of my banded time eating around my band. It is REALLY hard to follow the rules once you know how to cheat them. Start over now. Back to basics. Dont beat yourself up for past bad decisions. Just do it. Remind yourself of the reasons why you had this surgery. Don't self sabatage. You can do this.

    Upset.

Sorry you are bummed out. I would be too. Although, in all honesty... wouldn't you rather be certain that you are completely 100% healthy before going into surgery... to avoid any unnecessary complications. Sounds like your surgeon is being cautious, and that is a good thing. Next week will be here before you know it!!

    Northern Arizona Dr??

I used to see Dr Berger in Flagstaff for my fills when I first got my band. He does fills under fluroscopy. I was self pay... I can look up how much fills were if you need that info. I completely forgot now, it has been over 3 years. I have since found a local surgeon in Tucson who does my aftercare. It was pretty quick, in and out. They do all the fills on certain days and it was almost assembly line. He was nice, but I didn't feel like a patient... more like a number. It may have changed in the last 3 years. I think Flagstaff is about 2 hours away from Prescott Valley. So a little bit of a haul. Closer than Tucson though!! Haha. I can't believe I used to drive over 4 hours one way for a freaking fill!! My new doctor is 15 minutes from my house. <3 **edited to add** Not sure why links aren't displaying properly? Here is a link though.... Dr Berger

    Anyone Else??

My problem is I am addicted to ice cream... so I can't buy it. If it is in my house, I will eat it all. My addiction got worse after banding because it was the one thing I could eat mindlessly, and large quantities of. Ice cream is EVIL. LOL.

    Please help me, I'm MISERABLE!

Glad u are feeling better Dan. I was worried for you.
  10. I was hoping to avoid another surgery... Guess I will see what my surgeon thinks. Had bad heartburn the last 2 nights again. Guess my diet change isn't helping as much as i had hoped.
  11. It is moister. Chicken is hard to prepare where it isn't dry. Unless you are adding sauces, mixing with mayo, etc. I am trying to avoid the extra calories of sauces, so cooking chicken as my main Protein doesn't work for me. I have just gotten stuck one too many times with it. Maybe you have great recipes where chicken won't be an issue. I tend to lean towards fish as my main protein. I love fish so that works for me. I can take or leave chicken so I haven't really tried to make it work.
  12. I love asparagus and still eat it on a regular basis. I know some people still drink soda but I avoid anything carbonated. I eat nuts as a snack all the time. chicken and my band don't get along. Unless it is rotisserie chicken, I won't eat it. I think you will be able to find balance. Maybe while you are in the losing stage you will find more restrictions than you would like. But once you hit maintenance, you can try removing Fluid in the band to allow for more foods. Some foods aren't worth the pain and you will find your tastes change. I used to loooooove steak. Love it. I can't stand it now. At first I was pissed that my band and steak did not get along. And watching others eat it pissed me off. But about two weeks ago my family celebrated a birthday at a steakhouse and I tried a small bite of hubby's. Found out I don't like steak anymore. It tastes nasty and metallic to me now. Weirdest thing ever. It is frustrating at times, but you start liking different foods. And appreciating smaller quantities. I still have desert occasionally. But now it is a bite, maybe two bites of cake and I am done. I enjoy those two bites. A little sweetness without all the guilt.

    Help!

I agree with shuckybucky... You are too tight. See if you can get in for an unfill. If not, drink hot liquid like tea. That should go down. Right after hot liquid get your protein shake down. Then see doctor tomorrow.

    Pasta!!!!

    Pasta!!!!

Newme2012: There are healthy carbs out there. Fruits, some veggies, dairy, etc. It is not realistic to have NO carbs until goal. I understand restricting the amount... but none? I disagree with your doctor. I wish you tons of success but I would seriously consider add some healthy carbs into your diet (not cereal).
  17. Welcome back. I was banded in 2008 and just recently got back on track myself. I initially lost 100, then regained 56. I had gallbladder surgery, then a port replacement, and now I am possibly looking at a hiatal hernia repair. I am committed to making my band work this go around. It did once until I let my complications sideline me mentally. We can do this! I hope your new doctor helps get you to proper restriction and you find some success. Four years is a long time to wait to start utilizing your band.

    Support....

Maybe he is scared and is choosing the wrong way to show that? I agree with the previous poster... maybe have him go to a seminar with you? I am sorry he is not being supportive. I don't know if I would have went through with mine without hubby's support. Maybe letting him know how important his support is? There is no excuse for ultimatums in a relationship. You know your husband, so you know best how to talk to him. He needs to put his big boy pants on and be supportive and present for you. I hope he comes around!! Support is soooo essential to this process.

    Help!

I think it sounds too tight. .2cc can make a huge difference. Maybe back out a teeny amount. Otherwise try liquids for a few days to let it settle down and slowly work back to solids.
  21. Don't feel guilty. Tomorrow is a new day. I drank wine tonight too and I usually don't. I got the munchies but decided to work off my wine with the hubby. Haha. Needless to say I don't feel guilty anymore.
