    Looking for motivation!

Hey Rick. Been a while since I took a peak into here, which I do now and then and was nice to see a name from way back. I have stalled. Haven't gained back anything, I fluctuate a few pounds here and there but have really stablized. That's not good, because i am not at my orginal goal. The term "comfortable" really hits home, but it should not be good enough. I had to scale back the gym a bit and that bothers me - I'm hoping to go back to my old pace of 5+ days per week in another few weeks. I probably need to readjust my band as well. I am probably a bit too tight as I often get heartburn these days (keeps the food intake down but I know probably not the most healthy). Plus if I loosen up and then tighten again, I'll get the same benefit, which worked for me in year 1. Anyway, you are not alone. We all go through this. Hang in there and keep at it, you have still come a long way !

    what type of band?

I'm happy with my lapband but seems both work well. i had some pb incidents earlier on but not recently...
  6. Funny how a lot of people (including myself) really look(ed) forward to riding roller-coasters again. I now love going to amusement parks with my kids and going on all of the rides - a huge NSV !

    Fenton vs. PRCowboy Challenge

Its been a while since I last checked in so figured I would give a quick update. Still hovering just a couple of pounds above goal. Stepped on the scale this morning, which I have not done in about a month. I think I was a little surprised at that. Reason is that I am finding that I fit into less and less of my clothing (even my "skinny" clothes that have been hanging around for years unused in my closet). Definitely shaping up and right now, could care less if I lost another pound. BP is good, off the rack clothing is nice and the compliments don't suck for the ego !! Still love the band - I have not been adjusted for 9 months now (I think I have around 6cc's in a 10cc band). I really don't think about eating, with the exception of generally focusing on Protein. Last night my girls wanted pizza. We went to the local pizza place, I ordered a slice with pepperoni and mushroom and proceeded to eat about 3/4 of it and I was done. That's what I really love about the band. Anyway, hope all are doing well!

    Hey Guys!

Agree with Plain. You're body will let you know. I was driving within a couple of days - couple of weeks for sex. In terms of firmness, I guess im too old and lost too much too quickly (the last two not being bad things!), as i am saving for a tt....

    bypass versus lap band

Less invasive - no cutting up my insides was a big draw for me. I walked out of the hospital 4 hours after surgery and walking around the next day. Another big draw is the fact that is adjustable - I never feel deprived and can control my hunger. Pizza ? Went out with my girls the other night for dinner at the local pizza joint. Oredered a slice and as always think I can rifle through it - but with the band, I am done before I finish the crust and am full / satisfied. It also forces me to eat slowly, chew, chew some more and enjoy. One of the best decisions I ever made.

    pain after surgery

I experienced very little pain - as steve mentioned above, I experienced the shoulder pain as well from the gas...

    Recovery Time

The tough part for me was not pain (very little) but just getting comfortable to sleep. I am a side sleeper and had to adjust sleeping on my back in a lounge chair. Through off my sleep schedule a bit but I would say a week or so should do it...
