  1. Hello Everyone!

I've been coming here and reading post since February and am thankful for this site and all the people that post their experiences on her. I have learned so much and am ready to take the journey. I have been given a surgery date....JUNE 6th ! I will be banded by Dr. Garth Davis at University General Hospital in Houston, Texas. I was told that I will have to be on a liquid diet 1 wk prior to surgery, which I'm thankful that it wasn't 2 wks.

I'm excited and nervous! I'm looking forward to talking and hearing from other June Bansters!

I just want to say Thank You for all the support everyone offers to others... this site is truly a blessing!

    WooHoo! :tt1:

  2. Hello Everyone!

I have my 1st consult next week with Dr. Garth Davis. I am 35 years old with a BMI of 43, I have Blue Shield of California and my insurance does cover Bariatric surgery (if approved). I am nervous and excited but would like suggestions on what type of questions I should be asking during my consult?

    Thank You!

    Marie

  3. Hello....

I attend a seminar last night where Dr. Garth Davis spoke. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had the lap-band done by him. If so, I'm just trying to get some feed back on him. How does his consultations go? I'm schedule to have my 1st consult with him on March 27th!

    Thank you! :tongue2:

  4. Hello.... I have been reading post on the forum for weeks now. I am just starting my journey, will be attending a seminar today. I have a question about the liquids after surgery. I can't be on all liquids all day now how does it work after you have the band? I guess right now my brain is telling me that I won't survive without some type of food. Can someone explain this to me?

    Thanks!

    Marie

  5. Hello Everyone :tongue2:

I am attending a Seminar on Wed, 02/20/2008 with Dr. Robert and Garth Davis. I was hoping that someone could give me some insight on what goes on at the Seminars. Do you actually meet 1 on 1 with the dr at that time or is just a big group informational meeting? Are there any questions that I should be asking?

    Any advice would be good!

    Thank you in advance....

    ~Marie~ :biggrin2:

  7. Hello Shaxmom

I am from Houston (SE area), also. I 2 just started my process to hopefully will allow me to have the LB surgery. I went to my Family Dr this week to discuss the Lap Band with him. He thinks I would benefit from it and he has begun the 'referal' for obesity surgery to my insurance. I have to wait to hear from him to see what the next step is. I have heard great things about Dr. Davis and if my insurance accepts him then I believe I will be using him for my surgery(when approved). I know I have a long road ahead of me but I am SOOOOO ready to start my journey to a healtier and slimmer ME!

    Good Luck!

  8. Hello Everyone!

My name is Marie and I am 35 years old and weigh 238 lbs(It hurts to type that). I had a doctor's visit with my primary care physician today and asked him about the Lab Band Surgery. He told me that I would be a good candidate for it and that he would get the process started for me with my insurance (Blue Shield of California). I'm super excited and am hoping and praying that all goes well so I can be a NEW BANDSTER to this forum! I love reading all the post on here.. it's so helpful and has helped me feel more confident in my decision to move forward!

I would like to hear from anyone who has had the surgery done in the SE/Pearland/Pasadena side of town. I live in South East Houston, close to Pearland!
