  1. So I've lost over 100 pounds since my surgery in December of 2008 but how has my image of myself changed? As I've talked to my friends lately they have told me that I am more sensitive about my appearance and my body. I agree. Don't get me wrong I love the new person that I am but their is a flip side. Before my surgery I was over 300lbs. and, now that I look back on it, I was more comfortable with myself than I am today. I now weight 200 lbs. and I am constantly looking in the mirror and honestly disgusted with my body and more aware of it now. Before my surgery I had an idea of the body I would have and how I would look. Needless to say that is not the case and how I look currently is more realistic. Dealing with how I see myself is something only I can change but I wondering if anybody else has had this experience or something similar to this? If so I would love to hear from you.

  2. Hey Everybody.... I wanted to give everyone a update on my lap-band progress. As yall know i have been denined for the Lap-Band because i dont have any health realted problems due to my weight. Well after that i went to see my doctor in my home town, he gave me a physical and i got some blood work done because that was the next course of action. Well the blood work came back and i am healthy as i can be! Witch is good news. The only thing that was a little out of wack was my Gluclose levels after 2 hours. So my doctor has wrote up a letter of approval documenting that and also my family health history. Today my insurance specialist sent it off to Tricare and I hope that this will be enough to get the surgery because if insurance wont pay for it then it is out :) ... So everyone please wish me the best of luck!!!

  3. Well my knees pop alot when i first get up and far as anything else i am not really for sure...The last time i have been to the doctor was last year for a sist on my lip and before that i havent been to the doctor since 1992 for getting my tonsles out. As far as that i have really had anything else wrong with my. I have been overweight for most of my life and have made attempts to lose weight and it just always come back. But think you for your input!

  4. I have been going through the process and on my way to getting Lap-Band surgury done. I have been so excited at the fact that my life is going to finally change around, and for the good (weight wise). I wanted to do something about my weight before it got completely out of hand and was forced to make a critcal change in my life style. Well today I heard from my insurance specialist and she had told me that i was denied on my insurance! This was a big shocker because the whole time the mood was, when it was going to go through... not if it will. My BMI is 40.5 and i am 300 lbs. This ,i think, more than qulifies me for the surgury.. at least from what i have read and told. My insurance said that since i had no health related problems due to my weight that they would not approve it :) Luckly my insurance specialist said that she was going to appeal it and to contact her tomorrow.. I am hoping that this will work and i that i will be lucky enough to have this done, because if not, i dont think that i will be able to pay for such a procedure. So if everyone would keep me in there thoughts and wish me luck it would be great because I think i am going to need it! Thank you all and please comment!

  5. He is a great doctor, really nice and down to earth. I go to nursing school with some girls from Wayne County. The surgery isnt bad and it is oh so worth it. Doctor Morton is really easy to talk to and will spend time explaining things , good luck!

Thanks Alot! I have another question for you .... after your insurance was approved what did you go through leading up to the surgury and how long did it take.... They said they would contact me monday about my insurance and i was looking sometime in Feb. for my surgery... Would that be an accurate time frame? Or does it take longer?

  6. Hey everybody, I have been going through this site for awhile now, I am currently waiting on my insurance to kick in so i can start the rest of the process to get my Lap-Band. Is there any helpful advice anyone would like to give. Going into the unknown it kinda scary and like other people I have used food for a comfort and woundering how I will deal with that after the surgury.
