Looking fantastic, may I ask how much weight you lost?
  2. Great Job! I am curious, so you have had the band for 6 years? Any complications or anything? I've had mine for almost a year and have been been told the longer you have it the more risk of a potential complication.. how is it going for you?

  6. Wow it does sounds like you have been having a lot of trouble. I don't know how other peoples experience have been with the LAP-BAND? but I can tell you from mine you shouldn't be having this much trouble. I was adjusted probably 6 times before I got to the place I needed to be and after that it has been smooth sailing, knock on wood. I know that you should not be throwing up that much, have you thought about the band itself? With all the vomiting it could have slipped and could be causing all of these problems. Even the band could have been placed wrong to start with. These are all questions and concerns that I would bring up to your doctor. Where did you have yours done at? Not to scare you but with you saying you throw up almost every time you eat and you havent lost much weight and with all the vomiting I would say there might be some complication that you are not aware of. Just to be safe I would get everything checked out and make sure everything is it tip top shape.

  7. Thanks for all the great comment's you guys! I would love to see some pictures of the progress you all have made! I am still not where I would like to be but I hope I will get there! Good luck to everybody and their journeys!
  8. Well I also started out at 302 so It came off of mea lot easier. Here in the the past it's been harder for me to loose but it is starting to come off again. How many times have you been adjusted? How many times to you end up throwing up your food? I do have a little trouble with broccoli but not to where I throw up. It sounds like to me that you are too tight if you are having a lot of trouble. I know for me it's just a day to day basis where I can eat something one day and the next I might have trouble with it the next. Do you also drink cokes? I know when I stopped them months before my surgery I lost 35lbs. just that way. I look at ice cream as kinda a treat so I don't try to eat it very often but I understand if you are limited in what you can eat then i don't blame you. I would talk to your doctor because if you are having a lot of trouble then I almost bet that you are too tight.

  9. Well I didn't change much.. I think most of it was my doctors getting my restriction where it needed to be.. and I naturally stay away from foods that are harder to eat.. I just don't like fooling with them. I still eat the same things give or take a couple but just a lot less of it. I also try to walk/run every now and then. If you don't mind me asking what did you start at? I also had a lot to loose too so that might have played a part.

  10. I have been going through the process and on my way to getting Lap-Band surgury done. I have been so excited at the fact that my life is going to finally change around, and for the good (weight wise). I wanted to do something about my weight before it got completely out of hand and was forced to make a critcal change in my life style. Well today I heard from my insurance specialist and she had told me that i was denied on my insurance! This was a big shocker because the whole time the mood was, when it was going to go through... not if it will. My BMI is 40.5 and i am 300 lbs. This ,i think, more than qulifies me for the surgury.. at least from what i have read and told. My insurance said that since i had no health related problems due to my weight that they would not approve it Luckly my insurance specialist said that she was going to appeal it and to contact her tomorrow.. I am hoping that this will work and i that i will be lucky enough to have this done, because if not, i dont think that i will be able to pay for such a procedure. So if everyone would keep me in there thoughts and wish me luck it would be great because I think i am going to need it! Thank you all and please comment!

I Need Advice and Support!! :(

Hey Everybody.... I wanted to give everyone a update on my lap-band progress. As yall know i have been denined for the Lap-Band because i dont have any health realted problems due to my weight. Well after that i went to see my doctor in my home town, he gave me a physical and i got some blood work done because that was the next course of action. Well the blood work came back and i am healthy as i can be! Witch is good news. The only thing that was a little out of wack was my Gluclose levels after 2 hours. So my doctor has wrote up a letter of approval documenting that and also my family health history. Today my insurance specialist sent it off to Tricare and I hope that this will be enough to get the surgery because if insurance wont pay for it then it is out ... So everyone please wish me the best of luck!!!

Thanks Alot! I have another question for you .... after your insurance was approved what did you go through leading up to the surgury and how long did it take.... They said they would contact me monday about my insurance and i was looking sometime in Feb. for my surgery... Would that be an accurate time frame? Or does it take longer?

Is there any helpful advice anyone would like to give. Going into the unknown it kinda scary and like other people I have used food for a comfort and woundering how I will deal with that after the surgury.
